  1. I thought someone with either that reel or knob would reply, but is it not simply a case of unscrewing the two screws on the T knob of the OEM part and then unscrewing the screw holding the knob to the axle?
  2. Wow, well done Kareem. Great effort on the bream gear.
  3. FYI - if you choose to post here, please discuss thoughtfully and respectfully. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-02-07/nsw-government-to-force-rock-fishers-to-wear-lifejackets/7146854
  4. Not much of a report finin. Care to offer more information for your fellow raiders?
  5. Well done young man! That was an excellent report and a deserving catch. That is a nice croc and picture to boot.
  6. Nice one Kareem! Looks like you have figured out a great strategy to enable the use of super light line. Good on you.
  7. Bad luck with the big boy Jeff but you will land it sooner or later.
  8. Love it when we get these more difficult ID's, always interesting.
  9. Hopefully someone has some ideas for you, but I was thinking of a graphite combo if you were to consider it. The Shimano Sonic Pro rod + Shimano Sienna reel is going as a combo for about $70 atm if you know where to look (or PM). The rod isn't as brittle as you think, especially not in the heavier line classes.
  10. Haha, at least it was interesting. Did you try giving the occy some slack line? They sometimes detach from objects and swim off and then you can bring it in.
  11. That is amazing. Congratulations. Let me rotate those photos for you. P.S. Definitely try and have a photo taken with your prize if possible and something green for COTM.
  12. Nice one Kareem, you are still coming up with the goods even with a dodgy ankle. Well done mate.
  13. Nice one Stan. Maybe the salt will treat you better than the fresh atm.
  14. Not a bass, most probably an eel. Also, They seem to strike out of aggression if things get within their own space/territory. There are also some large lizards which scoot across the surface in that lake which I think are water dragons but less likely since they would probably come to the surface in all that commotion.
  15. Hi Raiders! It's been great reading all these successful fishing reports over the past month. Our Catch Of The Month competition is continuing thanks to Frogley's Offshore who will provide a fantastic prize pack to the winner each month as voted by you, the members. To enter, all you need to do is write a fishing report and provide a photo of the catch with SOMETHING COLOURED BLUE pictured next to the fish and a smile on the angler. You can find further details in the appropriate COTM forum. The weekend is here so get out there and get fishing! Good luck and I hope to see some entries soon!
  16. Thanks Jeff. Looking forward to a hot season. Good luck. That outfit sounds perfect for this style of fishing. Yes, plenty of flats either side of the system. Thanks Ian. It is a shinku. I'm really finding them to be very versatile. I probably would have gone straight to the surface walkers if it wasn't for the fact that I decided to give them a shot after what you said about them. Thanks, good to hear you got into some action. The strong wind has some benefits however. It can help with longer casts and cause the fish be less spooky on the shallow flats.
  17. It's been a long time between reports, but this afternoon I had some time to go for a relaxing walk and flick along the flats at Port Hacking. I started off using lightly weighted grub plastics but the wind proved to be too strong. It wasn't long before I switched to a Damiki blade (3.5g with stinger hooks retrofitted). The heavier weight of the blade allowed for long casts into the deeper water and minimised the effect of the howling NE winds. A nice flathead, pinkie and then a whiting was the result. It became apparent that there were hoards of whiting roaming the flats so I switched to a clear stickbait and then a surface walker which did the trick. Unfortunately I lost count of how many were caught but it was exciting seeing surface hits and fish literally shouldering each other to get a piece of the lure. Most fish fell in the 20-25 cm category. To entice the fish to bite, it was simply a matter of working the lure briskly with a high tempo. There wasn't really any need for a finesse approach at all - skipping the lure on the surface with small splashes basically caused a train of whiting to follow behind jostling for position. Summer is almost here and it's shaping up to a cracker season of surface fishing. Till next time.
  18. Congrats Adam. Well done, the first is very special. Enjoy it.
