Went on a freinds boat on the weekend only to absolutly nail this jewie. Ran like a steam train. Caught on a large squid stripe. Rest of the ngiht was pretty ordinary, but I felt like a million bucks for once. Caught off the Perron islands. Weighed in at 15.3kg and a Personal Best for me. Squidboy

Nice work there on the jews. Seems like your the best jewfish fisherman I know. You meet me at Abbotsford a few weeks ago while we were squidding. I have found the same thing with the squid too. Gone completly off the bite. Been getting a few big ones however (1.5kg mark) in Sydney Harbour lately. Looks like they spawned a few weeks ago and now they have all grown up. Squid may not like all the freshwater or the junk in the water is making it hard to work for them. Nice work on the Jews once again, you really know how to brain them! Jim isnt it? Squidboy (Marco)

Heuy. I might be a bit of a pain. That boat I saw 449 Nomad is great. However, I want a pod, nothing is a good as a boat with pod. I went to a boat with a motor well and I thought it was the best move ever. In addition, I have experienced problems with 2 strokes and the last 4 stroke I have had from Honda have been absolutly gold for me. I want a boat with a 4 stroke cause I troll at low speeds often. If that boat came with a pod and something like 50 4 stroke motor it would be a gun of a boat. I will keep looking, but at this stage in researching I am thinking of getting my own boat built. Cost really somethimes does not matter. you pay for what you get and I think I am heading down the path of paying. Once again, I love how much help you get on this site

Man, I want to thank you guys for all your hard work on this site. I have a Sea Jay 4.35 run about and it seems a bit big to run around in by myself so I never go alone. I will researh more into these boats and i am sure when its time to upgrade I will visit Huet marine. Honestly, it is very nice for all these people I hardly know to help out. when I meet you all on the harbour i owe you a squd or something Huey, THANKS FOR THE INFO. I tell ya what. I want something a little smaller and something I can put a bowmount for an electric on for the squid! I saw boats like the seascape 4.62 or the tabs 4.55, however I find that these beautiful boats are about 400kg on the back to push around. Any other suggestions you would have too? Also the Nomad looks fine but a bit too big. I dont really want a 4.6m and the side console is too much at the front. I would prefer a side console but half way down the hull or towards the back. Its smoother to ride around like this then. Anyway, I will definitly consider the Nomad, AND ASK for you if it is my choice at the end of the day. THANKS A million champ! sQUIDBOY

Thanks for all your responses. I might have to upgrade to the 480 but as I said I want a boat that I can manage on my own. I don't venture on rough days but I do want to get back after a calm day when conditions change. Just for knowledge, how much freeboard do they really have since the hull is 91cm deep?

Thinking of what boat to get next. I saw the Quintrex Hornet 445 cause I want to launch the boat myself and retrieve it easily. Are these boats ok for Cronulla and Sydney heads in a bit of swell? Any thoughts from other Hornet owners would be greatly appeciated. I generally target salmon an Kings from these spots. Cheers Squidboy

Its a shame that such a sign has been put up and I also have heard about what could possbily be the locals cutting tires of cars parked in the area. I fish the place too and besides some mess people have left there, they are never noisy or troublesome. I think its wrong and we should report the person cutting tires to the police cause it is illegal to do. I went there this afternoon to see the sign. It is below a canadabay council sign using different brakets to the council ones and also does not include which authority has put up the sign (the dumping sign does have a council emblem). I think it could be a locally put up sign but I am too thinking about ringing the council on this one. Just a warning for the person cutting the tires. Some of the fishos can be aggressive when you take thier "spot" and I am sure they won't hold back giving you a belting for destroying their cars too. There are other options for people who fish the area. These include abbotsford warf (the park to the right of the warf) and blackwattle bay where I have seen a number of jews being caught. Anyway, I have been looking for laws that prevent you fishing a bank and can only find MPA fishing sancutarys and ferry warfs. Any help on this issue would be appreciated if any raider knows Squidboy

Your a legend taking your family out!!! My dad landed his first HB jew this morning, and what a reaction when he was hooked up and it wasnt the bottom. These moments with family are priceless. Congratulations on the prize catches that many people would take a long time to achieve!! Squidboy

NICE WORK!!! I have fish the MH a few times when kings were not around and have managed 4-5 snapper to 35cm. Its amazing what can happen when the trawlers leave and it is evident that some big reds are calling SH their home. Put it in fish of the month, I am sure I'll put a vote for it

Hi raiders, Hit the water just quickly this morning for a couple of hours. Went for a plastics session with my brother to Balmain. My brother landed a healthy flathead before we called it a day. Not much to report except alot of lost pumpkin seed SP's. I guess it is good the trawlers are now out of this band of water. We can finally see and catch the fish. This fish took a pumpkinseed two inch.

Thanks alot for the advice there. I will be heading down there some time in two weeks so I want to give it all a go. Do you catch these kings off the bottom slowly drifting or just anchored?

I am all with you. List the regos and let the other fishos fix them on the water. Maybe even the fisheries will be bothered to do something about these offenders!!! After all, we have fishing licences to help protect our waters!!!!

If your sydney based, no joke, but would give North Narrabean a go. Good bream and whiting on Sundown.

This might sound silly to ask but where about is the middle ground? Is there something close by? or is it just in the middle of the bay? I have a 4.35m runabout which is good in bays and so on and would it be ok to venture so far in JB with this sort of boat? Thanks for any help. Squidboy

The water was fantastic today. We tried squid at every marker and only managed one king. We also got 6 leather jackets, 1 eel, 1 finger mark and some rock cod fish. Pretty average day but very fun to be out in the water. Was that you anchored at NH with the fishraider stickers?

Bream. Snapper dont have a black ended tail. Very nice fish there too
