    Broken Anode

Ok, I will explain further. The anode is goooooone. I have ordered a new one. That bit is easy, the bolt is snapped in the outboard dog leg. Tried the easyouts but that wasnt much chop. Looks like I am booking it in at a dealer to sort out. Might try extreme boat servicing and see what the boys tell me.

    Broken Anode

Hello fellow raiders. Ok, hit something in the water today and there goes the anode off the prop end. The bolt snapped off too. Tried the easy out, broke two third one didnt do a good job either. Do you guys/girls think a boat shop can put a new thread in the block and put a slightly smaller bolt to hold an anode in? Love some advice, or exactly who could repair it at a fair price. I am getting married in two weeks and would like it fixed before I go O/S, that way, when I get back, it is on the water ready to go.
  3. Just on my desk cleaning my Twin Power 1000. I took all the drag washers out as the drag was a little 'sticky'. I have lubes all the drag washers along with some 'cloth like' drag washers. Just wondering if it would be time to replace these 'cloth like' washers if the reel is heavily used. Not sure if anyone knows the answer, but Shimano. Would love to hear some feedback on how to get my reels as smooth as new. I am using the shimano oil right now, cause I am not too sure what else would be preferable. Cheers Squidboy
  4. Well well well. First of all Rueben, congratulations. I told you there wasn't much to catching these jew fish and before you know it the 20 or 30 kg one will hit at the two spots explored. Like I said, the technique works in that window opportunity. I wish I could be bothered to write a book, but everyone has their own opinions. Tuffy, I havent forgotten you. I just been snowed under with work, trying to get married and working out when to dash for a fish. Mate, if you ever want to head out one night, drop me an SMS and I will see if I can get a break from life. Congrats on the jews, and yes, Sydney Harbour squid is the best bait for Sydney harbour Jews, there is other ways, but this is the easiest. Regards Squidboy
  5. Isnt our country terrible. I had an instance at 4am in the morning at Roseville. I check the bungs of the boat, get to the Spit and my run about is sinking, yes, sinking. Someone knocked off the bungs when I went away from the car and boar for a while before launching. I feel sorry for you cause the downrigger is a fortune. If you need to lend a lake troller in the meantime, just PM me. As for catching these guys, make sure you give them some from me. It could of cost our lives if we did not think fast enough. Marco
  6. I think every honest angler would like to see the following: 1. Fisheries actually being out there and checking catches ( I have been checked once in my life, I can't see the night time fishos getting caught) 2. Checking the warfs/fishing hot spots at night time would be the best catch for them for both undersized, over bagged and unlicenced fisherman/catches I alone could make thousands picking out illegal fishing. I don't see why the Government would not see this as a good revenue stream since the population appear to ignore the rules. In the end it will hurt us as we wont have new fish breeding or moneyto be spent on improving our fishing/water qualities. Justmy thoughts, but I can be ignored. Squidboy
  7. I tried out the SE Sport 300 on my 50 Suzuki. Definitly got the wobbles (porposiing) all sortted out and on the placne much more efficient. I turned with ease and it glided through the corner rather than dig in. I must admit, i didnt do any hard steering but I rather stay in the boat. I did lose three knots at topend however which was different.
  8. Lucky it is all fixed and well now.Is it a common problem that other Suzuki owners should look out for or a one off?
  9. If anyone has a mold for a 4lb downrigger mold I would be happy to pay to borrow it or purchase it. I can also pay a fee to borrow it too. Just send me a PM Squidboy
  10. I am now contemplating not having a foil after reading the boat instances above. I prefer to live and live up with a little less speed.
  11. Scotty please pm me your details and I'll give you a call
  12. It is a 4.2 Anglapro Outlaw with a Suzuki 50 four-stroke.
  13. Thanks Tuiffy for your comment. Still researching. Your one appears to be the best given it is flat on the bottom and without the wings. I have also found that you can buy a clip that means you do not have to drill into the motor.
  14. Thanks for the ips, especially tipping the boat. Prop was changed over the weekend going from a 13 inch to a 14 inch, I lost a knot but it was rough conditions on Sunday. Might have to try it again.
  15. Hi raiders, I am considering purchasing a SE Sport 300 Hydrofoil for my Suzuki 50 four stroke. Besides reading all the advertising for these hydrofoils just wondering raider experiences with putting these foils on their outboard and testing them. Do they actually save fuel and put any extra speed as a result from the lift factor or is this all miffs? Would like to know how much speed also if possible. Cheers for any help. Marco
  16. Russmight have to change his name to Tuff Jew if I can help
  17. I wanted to share my expeience with Tuffy today on my new boat. I tested a 14 inch prop in the chop or swell today in the harbour with his help, or should I say huge help. I cannot drive at the moment due to busted have (Tendons and all) and Tuffy dro9ve my boat to the ramp, put the prop on, launched me and had a go on the boat at the same time. Although it was not the best conditions today and he got a bit wet, I want to thank Tuffy for going out of his way to assist me today. No fish on the water, but I will definitly give him a run down of jews down the street shortly on the right tides. Cheers Marco.
  18. Tuffy, would love the spare prop when I get better. Got to fix my hand then get the boat on the water. Happy to see it is a gun boat now. Catch you soon. Squidboy
  19. Gday raiders, Looking at trying the barbour tomorrow and starting the new 2010 season. Any good reports in Sydney harbour what is biting and what one. Any help will be appreciated, I guess it will remove some of my guessing game tomorrow morning. Cheers Squidboy
  20. Tuffy, Now you are a man! I too have a Honda 40 carbby and it is a screamer in comparison to the Suzuki 50. Mate, would love to hear how you go, I am looking at testing once again next weekend as I have to write down my WOT. Could ou send me Solas details of where they are etc? Cheers, would like to ring to speak to you sometime if you want to compare notes. Marco
  21. Huey, I finally found the WOT RPM, I have the DF50 model. SUZUKI OUTBOARDS HP/Model WOT RPM Gear Ratio DF50 5500-6500 2.09
  22. Huey, I must be silly but what is the WOT RPM? My top RPM is about 6500 with the rev limiter.
  23. Fishraiders, Well I have finally downgraded to a 4.2 brem boat with the Suzuki DF50 motor. My only concern to date is that it does not seem to perform as well as my Honda 40 HP runabout. They both do 30 knots on the water and the Honda pushes a run about which is much heavier and bigger than the Outlaw and mind you I have had four people on it versus just me on the bream boat. I was just wondering what sort of speed you would gain any other similar boats and what size prop you are running. I am considering running one size up prop in stainless (being a 14 inch prop, in comparison to the current 13 inch alloy prop) to see whether it would make much difference. My only concern is that I may be putting the wrong strain on the motor even though it can be rated all the way to an 18inch prop. Would love your thoughts. What I would like to achieve is a little over 20 knots at 4000 RPM to run the engine at a lower RPM and save a bit of fuel (Possibly). All thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers Marco
  24. Big Mick, a few trevs, sambos and tailor. Not many kings, and watch out some markers have the good old Leather school all over them. Cheers Squidboy
  25. Hey G Unit, Or should I say younger brother? Good fish champ, I know I had a smaller fish at the end of the day, but I was scoping around more than flicking the lure. Anyway, look forward to flogging you at the comp like always Squidboy
