  1. Ok so the way I understand all three posts is like this: When in "MOM' it is momentary, meaning that the foot control will only work with my foot on the motor on button. When "CON" is on then it will keep the motor on by pushing the motor on button and releasing my foot to do other stuff. So I would take it the remote will work on both modes?
  2. Ok, here goes two questions to you experts out there. I have just bought a Minn Kota 55lp bow mount. Now the foot pedal has a switch on it with "MOM" and "CON" I read the whole manual and I cannot see what the two functions actually are for. I have also attached to this unit a Co pilot setup (Remote control) In addition, with the co pilot unit that is bolted onto the electric motor, is it just left to the outside elements (the back part of the unit), seems a bit silly that it is open to saltwater and air is all. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.I might work it out before the main hull arrives, but until then I am not sleeping right
  3. Just bought the Outlaw. Great Boat for its price and with a 50HP four stroke Suzuki, it should fly.
  4. Hey Raiders, Just wondering if anyone has a Humminbird seven series sounder with side imaging. If so are they any good and pretty simple to use? I only use a fish sounder and never used a GPS/Fishcombo, let alone with side imaging. Would like to hear some raider comments on them. Cheers Squidboy
  5. Ok, here goes: If I have a bow mount point straight forwards and trolling away. Is it pretty easy to steer with your petrol motor? What I want to do is set the speed on the electric, sit in the drivers seat and slow troll all day with me resting instead of being at the bow of the boat. Your help will be much appreciated Squidboy
  6. Thanks Champo. Going down to see one this week and see how it all goes. I am not one for doing 4000 through the rough, but I just want to be safe really.

    Skeeter Sx170

Anyone own a Skeeter SX170? I just wanted to know whether the E-tec 90 would be sufficient and how well these boats really handle. I fish the colours sometimes so I am really interested if they handle well just outside the heads. Cheers Raiders
  8. Thanks Mate, just out of curiosity, would you be able to PM me how much Huey did it for? i might just go down and negotiate a price. I can live with feet and miles per hour, and the maps are convertable to Australian maps from what I have learnt. But for a few huindred it maybe worthwile just getting one down here. Cheers Marco
  9. Just wondering if any raiders have bought the side imaging 798 SICI from Humminbird? I would like to ask whether the ones from the USA can have their maps converted to Australian ones pretty easy and if anyone has bought one direct from the USA from blah blah poop? Any help will be greatly appreciated. They look like an awesome machine, but the Australian prices of almost three grand are too far from the USA price of $700 AUD!!!. Thanks for your help raiders
  10. Anyone know what is a good price for an evinrude 40 Etec? Just browing the marlet for a motor to suit my new boat hopefully. Any help will be appreciated.
  11. Rubbish product,I threw away the gel and the liquid stuff years ago.
  12. Ben is a great bloke, if you still got his contacts up north can you pass them on. he moved on from the charter we organise annually and i couldnt get a hold him this year. Cheers
  13. Nice report greg. By any chance is the person in the last photo called ben? I fished with him on a seven day tour of the perin islands. He is a champion fisho. He should remember myself and big pete. Squidboy.

  15. Hi Mick, First of all nice arrow squid catch looks very nice for bait or calamari rings. This time of the year it is great to get stuck into some of the larger varieties of squid and sizes like this are common if you go to the right grounds for them. Here is photo of one we had recently of a southern calamari. Nice work once again, and if you put it to practice you should have your bag limit in no time. Squidboy
  16. Hi Raiders sorry for the late reply. The harbour seems to have alot of jackets in itso we headed to pittwater. It was on a boat and generally green and blue coloured jigs worked the treat. Maybe it was the water colour cause it was rather dark. The jigs I use are the normal yamashita ones, none of the fansy new ones cause 1, they are too dear when I run into jackets and two the older style work better for me. I generally use the orange, pink, green and blue, and sometimes pull out the good old red one I have had for years Good luck guys. Squidboy
  17. Hi ALL, This is just Saturday morning efforts................ Squidboy
  18. I agree with you Andrew and that is why I take about one or two squid from each of the schools we encounter. Mind you we were two people fishing so we were under the total of 40 squid we were allowed. Every other weekend I do catch and release on these inkers but 1 haul since Ocotober last year sounded alright.
  19. Hi Dougs777, Orange is my favourite colour when working the water columns for squid at the moment. If you manage some live squid the kings and jews love them as bait alve or very fresh. Stick with the kelp beds round middle head for the bigger ones and smaller ones are normally found on rocky shorelines throughout the whole harbour. Spend time with your son on the water, seriously when my dad gets a chance to come out it ends up being the greatset of days. Cheers Squidboy
  20. Hit the Harbour this morning for some green eyed monsters in need for jews in the months ahead. We started off very slow at 1:30am with only one squid per spot we turned up too. We managed two larger squid under lights and then nothing for two hours. This was starting to look like a long day with only 5 in the live well. Headed off to a point where we managed 6 squid cast after cast and we thought we were onto a good spot, this was about all the squid in this spot apparently cause we wasted another 40 odd minutes trying to find thier companions. Towards the back end of the session we managed a few pairings of the green eyed pulses but it seems the harbour was slow for squid today. All up we landed 30 squid and enough for some serious jew sessions this coming winter. There are some photos below of the critters
  21. Excellent Work there Goob. I just got back from a jew session and seems like they are on the chew this week. We managed to land two and dropped a third within 45 minutes after the change. All the best with the new boat, looks great, and if it catches fish like that consistently alot of raiders will become jelous. Congratulations Squidboy

Mate, you watch your jig. Different jig sink at differnt rates, so you have to do your homework. Just a tip, heavy leader for beginning so you dont loose it.

    Squid

You will need a boat to fish for squid well. Generally I catch a couple and keep on the move. That way you do not wipe out the whole school and your sure that in a few months time there should more squiddlys which are babies around in that spot. Balmoral is good early in the morning in the kelpts nice and deep. Orange seems to work well, but I can't answer why round there. You generally have to keep on the move till you find them.

Greg, You can also try watsons bay left of the marina warf there. In addition, you can hit the kelps at middle head. Regards Squidboy
  25. Doug, Very nice looking king there. To answer your question, I have seen you too fishing for kings near king schools that I have been working. I have used sluggos to hand made flies to slices. At times when they have been busting u[ everywhere ina diametre of 50 odd metres I too have found that nothing can tempt them. Normally this is later on the day I see this activity and it has been strange of late. I am talking about lures that are one inch to 12 inches so I have tried all sizes to date. One thing is that these schools are moving more ground this year and if your patient enough, you will find them. Hope we can share our thoughts on this topic. Squidboy
