Have you had a look at the lastest weather report. I think this might change your mind to something more like making up rig in the garage this weekend.

    cheers

  2. I want to make my own lead sinkers. Anyone know where I can get hold of lead?

    Glen

I hope you ment cheap lead.

I would like to know that myself as the price at the scrap lead is around the $3.20

It's a dam site more than the $1.30 you would have payed six months ago may be should have bought a few tons back then.

    cheers

  3. Bob, what sort of dollars are we talking including freight?

    Mariner 31

It is much cheaper to by it from the gun shop at wetherill park $150  it cost me with postage $190. :ranting2:

But this what happens when you are in a rush. :05:

P/s sorry it took so long to reply

    cheers

  4. Laurie

    Thats is :1fishing1:

Lots of time spent :1fishing1: and sometime nothing reel good to show for our efforts.

But us true fishos know it's the good and the bad that make us what we are :1fishing1: man.

The weather has been s----t for the pass few weeks so this will contribute to the lack of fish but

at least you's had ago and 10 points for that alone

    Cheers

  5. Hi Humesy

:1fishing1: is very tuff at the moment with all the run of from the :1badmood: . But at least you got out there and had ago :1fishing1: .

And for your efforts you have been rewarded with not many but one. It may not of been a pb but surely

one better than many of us have caught in the past day or so.

    Cheers

  6. hey raiders went out friday night for a bash at the flattys at a new spot the spit

got there at 12.30am and found a good moring on the east side

5.5 hours later we had 2 flattys and a brecky bream

heap off throw backs and a big run that is still going west with 50 meters off 6 lb fire wire atached

that run was at 4.36 am for all the jew nuts

at dawn went for a run around south head to the stinkpipe for zip thought give north head a wack

spun up 2 slimmys between the heads in 30 meters deep they were sitting at the 10 to 15 meter mark and way spred out

mate goes green [pussy]so we head to Q POINT and drop the pick[little did he know i was feeling a bit crap to] pick up 2 flownder and 1 small flatty 1 bream

then the super yakkas show up

being one who must catch what i can see out come the bait rods

for the next hour we had one off best little sessions this year man i love the big yakkas and more so the slimmy mac's heaps off double hook ups and more lost than boated

by 11.30 we called it a day gary

    Gary

If you only caught a few slimies do not make the same mistake as many of us do and freeze them for bait.

Clean them up and either pan fry or smoke them and trust me you will not regret it.

    cheers

  7. Hi Jay

There is one thing i would like to recommend is if you have a spare rod is to use a live crab on it.

I only ever use live crabs in the georges and have caught some thumper breams on them not to exclude the odd jewie as well.

    Cheers

    Bob

  8. Mike

Great :1fishing1: report you had me on the end of my seat :o waiting for the out come of the salmon.

I some how think that the folks in the other boat might have known your uncle better when you read the bit

(One of the other boats was heard the call "Just net him ya useless bastard!) :074:

But all jokes aside I think the second photo said it all.

The trip and the salmon is imbedded in your memories for quite some time to come. Thats what fishing is all about the ones you catch and the ones that get away. It does not say much about your uncle but. :bash:

  9. Hi Jay

If there is one man that knows the Georges and the Hawkesbury it’s the Jew gaffer. :1worthy:

Great to hear that his advice has lead you to some great catches. :1fishing1:

So all i can say is go the gaffer and i hope that many more beginner’s will take his advice as i have done.

    Cheers

    Bob

  10. Kel :1welcomeani:

    Great first report.

Sorry to hear that the weather :1badmood: was crap but at least you where out there.

Your efforts and persistence have rewarded you with at least one kingie in the boat  and a few near misses.

There is no better sound or sight than a rod buckling over and the reel sing that favorite tune zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It some how just makes the crappy weather disappears for those brief moments

Hope to see more of your :1fishing1: adventure’s here on fishraiders in the near future and don’t forget some pick’s as well

    Cheers

  11. Shark Hunter

  12. Hi, has anyone got or tried any electric reels for deep drop applications eg browns?

I have been looking at Miya epoch x6 and diawa 1000fe.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Luke.

The only thing i can say is go the tanacom

    cheers

    bob

  13. Ok Raiders

I finely got my lee pro 4 20 pot from the states and works fine except for the hight problem.

The melting pot was not high enough to get my large moulds unders it so the only thing to do

was to mod and mod i have done. So now with the mods done i can fit my 3kg moulds under it.

This pot is so good i can pour into a cold mould without choking it in the neck.

So i thought i would share some photos.

  14. hi guys,

some mates and i have been playing with a 12" winch out at browns, and it has handled tripple hook ups on blue eye and gemmies ok (hard work but ok..) just ordered and 18" winch, should make life a bit easier!!

    livinthedream

are you talking about hand operated one

    cheers

  15. Hi Bob,

I was just interested in the types of rods you are running these reels over mate,

are the rods rollered and if so is there any issue at all with the braid running over and catching in the rollers at all?

Ide imagine braid pulling that type of weight up from a few hundred metres wouldnt be too good for normal guides.

    Cheers mate

    Allen

    Allen

The rods i use are penn 24kg full guides. The reason why i went with guides is that the 80LB braid they make today is so thin that i was very concerned that if i went to rollers that there was a possible chance that the line could jump at the tip and jam in behind the roller.

I would like to hear from others if any that use roller rods or tip.

    cheers

    bob

  16. Aussie bob,

I have been looking into buying an electric reel i have been looking at the same tunacom 1000 as you have or a miya epoch reel.

Do you have any thoughts as to how they both compare, by the sounds of it your two will pull most things up.

    Thanks

    LUke

    Luke

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.

I have not used the miya epoch but did look at them before i purchased my first tanacom.

The thing that turned me to the tanacom was i must say it the brand the line cap and the retrive rate.

I was so happy with the tanacom in the area of deep drop that i purchased another 3 as i memtioned I have

2 left out of the four that i had ended up with.

I would also like to add with the sale of the two that i have just sold i will be replaceing them with two hyper drive tanacoms.

Over all i can say that there has been no regret in buying the tanacom's and i have been very happy with them in all types of fishing i have put them threw.

    Cheers
