  2. i thought prawns retreat backwards? maybe the squid may pick up on this and want to attack it hard
  3. after prolonged use, the plastic will eventually go loose and slip off
  4. Nitro 007 undertaker but its only 5'10". split into 5 sections or team daiwa advantage 3 but they're 6'0". split into 3 sections never used them b4 tho as i hate multi piece rods. i spend more time putting them together and making sure they are straight than actual fishing.
  5. if you get a fine, do a calibration test and you should be off scot free. but i would get it re-calibrated b4 a copper wants to be a d!ckhead
  6. I was trawling thru Youtube and found this old ad for Homestead Chicken. Anyone remember this fast food outlet? I think they shut up shop in mid 1980's i loved this place over Maccas, KFC, Pizza Hut etc. But more so over KFC as the chicken and chips tasted a mile better. I used to goto the one in Bankstown a lot as my parents ran the chinese restaurant next door. The current location has been KFC since the takeover. The restaurant is now an ugly bottlo. I wish Homestead would come back! The memories are all flowing back.
  7. besides bleeding and gutting straight away, what else makes a black drummer have tough flesh? the question wasn't just any fish in general. but if it was in general, there are some fish that have tougher flesh than others. just like different cuts of meat are tougher than other cuts.
  8. thanks gents and lady i'll try roberta's method first as its the easiest. i guess that what the other fisho meant. i doubt he meant to leave it on the kitchen bench overnight
  9. I see a lot of guys keeping catches of Black Drummer over 40cm. How to they overcome the tough flesh before cooking? I only asked because another fisho said to leave it out so the meat softens but didn't say how I always keep the 30-40cm because its just perfect, but over 40, the flesh is very tough after cooking. Worse than a chewy steak.
  10. i've never fished there....but i would of brought along some bread & prawns and cast around those washy holes and crevices for drummer.
  11. found some US prices for the 4500 and 6500, they are 200 and 230 USD respectively. hopefully we won't see it more than $400 here for 6500.
  12. love the colour scheme...any idea on the price?
  13. I don't know japanese either. I wish i did so i could act like a local and get all the good stuff. The japanese are funny, even though their products have reached all corners of the globe, they will always keep the best to themselves. But for the interested, the japanese written language is made up of 'kanji', 'hiragana' and 'katakana'. Kanji is same as chinese and the meanings are exact or very close to each other. Hiragana is their own alphabet. Katakana are just written sounds making up words they don't have in their own vocabulary. Best example is 'リール', which is pronounced 'reel' but think of it in a japanese accent. That's the basic anyways. The point of this is, i can read Kanji...you guessed it. I'm chinese. So i read the kanji bits and guess the rest of what i think its suppose to mean. Anyways, just wanted to show how fish crazy the japanese are. We find leatheries annoying, yet they can turn it into an art form. To them a fish is a fish no matter what species or size, they still find it fun just fishing.
  14. thats a very shallow area...i do a lot of LB flattie fishing there. to give you an idea i could easily wade out 150m and still the water is only just above my waist. that is going accordingly to the tide right there
  15. Love a pure fishing holiday! Are those the Ripple Fisher rods you were using? If so, what do you think of them?
  16. its the death worm from mongolia quickly tell the nz researchers
  17. ...a Leatherjacket tournament! Here's the link...but its in Japanese http://kawahagi.funesaizensen.com/headline/eid53.html the fish is kawahagi, in english Thread-sail filefish If you click around the site, daiwa even has specialised gear for it. Apparently they eat them sashimi, don't think i'll do the same locally
  18. i got to wet a line today. i came home with NIL as well but got dusted twice. these piggies must live in a brick home as mr wolf couldn't blow them out. i too want to seek revenge
  19. your testing method is not suitable. as you lift the dumbell, your rod is adding extra pressure so your 5kg force is not exactly 5kg. you need a scale for accurate measurements i can also say that 20lb fins is very strong. only been snapped off from structure, never has a fish been able to snap the line in clear water
  20. i'm glad you got to wet a line. read that today was going to be very calm. so went to my fave pig spot this morning only to find out it was slammed by massive waves. just can't trust all weather reports.
  21. i think trout and hairtail involves cold winter days and nights. i wish kings were a winter species, less crowded in the harbour haha
  22. goto their website and look up location guide. it'll tell you why. doesn't refer to the car manufacturer though. if you don't know the website, google bugatti reef
  23. these guys are fishing 100lb lines with locked drags. no matter what reel, they are going to break. i've seen many horror stories on the web and there was not a specific brand that broke
  24. should be ok. aslong its flat and in small angle is ok. just make sure its tight, its the loose coils that will give you grief
