  1. I had great difficulty sourcing one here. I looked at Japan and the shipping cost is almost or more than the cost of the case itself. Same if you try to source one from the US. But finding one in Japan or US is much easier.
  2. If price is not an issue then try MC Works. They are constantly rated at the top at tackle shows. I've got the NB536 and SB516. Both handled NZ kings quite easily. I'm actually trying to source a lighter rod now as both can easily skull drag the average Sydney king. Otherwise you're usual Japanese stuff like Ripple Fisher, Carpenter, Zenaq, Patriot Design, Seven Seas etc.
  3. I meant of course gut it and bleed it after capture. But i cook my blackfish/drummer whole and i don't think its any worse
  4. just cook the fish whole. that way nothing gets in and not a bit is wasted
  5. Are you far from Dee Why? You could just walk up to their office and tell them your problems. They might have a look or if you're confident its a spacer issue, they'll just give you one.
  6. if you are really bad, goto cincotta chemist at caringbah. ask for ET's seasick pills at the prescription counter
  7. talk about looking after catch...does anyone find drummer tastes even better when iki spiked?
  8. I'm guessing its down to luck. Reason i'm asking is i want to buy 2 rods from Japan. If the probability of skipping the taxes/duty is decent then i might pack them together, otherwise i might as well have them in two shipments.
  9. I can sense tackle shops rubbing their hands right now!
  10. Friday's silly question... I was wondering has anyone bought stuff overseas, spent over $1000 and not get caught by customs to pay taxes? I know when shipping parcels yourself they request the value. I can make this up usually but i won't have control over this part. So when customs scan your item, is this when they know the value of the parcel? or is it the shipping company that collects the taxes for the government?
  11. Yea. I still don't understand that fishing line thing. Yet they will happily let me carry power cords and keep my shoe laces on
  12. you are probably the most resourceful woman i've ever met!
  13. Is that a soft case? I can tell you from experience, it won't survive the journey. I use hard plastic and you can tell its been knocked around hard. Bubble wrap won't help
  14. you didn't fish the high ledges around flat rock? i fished one of the high ledges and caught heaps of drummer. Sorry i can't pin point which one but if you walk around you will see a ledge overhangs a washy area. all you have to do is drop your bait. if you do fish the spot make sure you bring a heavy rod because you will need to winch the fish up
  15. i think they're a bit overpriced for the components the put on. Saying that though i do have the distance spin, magnum and viper. I purely bought them for travel and they've been great. I like the rod insurance too, especially as i am traveling, but i can see its creep up in price. I think it was $60 before. Anyways, they can actually take on some abuse but of course i don't recommend trying to abuse them on purpose.
  16. Just watched Dynasties, which featured the Lee family and their success with the Bing Lee company. I just thought so typical of Greg. In every shot of Greg, minus the footage filmed in China, it had something to do with fishing! In the meeting, he was holding a pen shaped like a lure; on the plane, his reading material was a fishing mag and in another shot, he was fishing out somewhere in his boat.
  17. Hahaha...no its not a fishing rod. Excuse me for the grainy photos because i used an extremely old camera. Good thing too because the auto lens cover had crystalised from all the salt spray. Its a stake for something which i think it shouldn't be there because it can give people false sense of security. I just went to have a look and took some photos.
  18. I took some photos of one of my fishing spots. On most days its a safe spot. I don't have any photos of a calm day to compare.
  19. you know that fishing show on CH10 with this annoying guy named Paul but still want to watch it anyways? does that give you a clue? if not, i'll send you a pm where to get them
  20. the fishing is epic over there. its a must
  21. ginko, how much line from the float is let out? sometimes they are near bottom, especially when the sun is out. maybe do without the float and let the bait drift to the bottom with 00 or 0 ball sinker. but not all the way or else you get a lot of kelpfish. if you get a lot of rubbish fish near the surface, berley one way and cast the other way. that way you get less pickers. also, as the sun rises, drop the bait at your feet. a lot of times they are already there feeding hard up against the rocks.
  22. Landing fish seems like a struggle tho. Many times i see guys lose fish because they can't land it. They try to wash it up only to be cut off.
  23. look overseas...can't beat even when you add express shipping
  24. I'm pretty sure travelling to another work site from your main workplace is covered. Need to check that though. Its only travelling from home to your main work place is not covered anymore. This was cleared up at work last year because it happened to a colleague and she wasn't able to make a claim. Also, you can only make a claim once you step foot inside the work place. You could be just one step away and that won't count. So just a tip, (touch wood) if something does happen and its borderline. Make sure you mention it was inside.
