  1. Yeah it was a surprise to me as well! I was talking to some other blokes at the ramp and they said there have been larger catches of flatties all over the CC!
  2. Your keen! It was like the M1 out there today. Tomorrow will be worse for sure. Good luck anyway! We caught all the flatties where you saw me anchored when you headed off to Lobster!!
  3. Did you catch the bream on soft plastic?
  4. You should have stayed mate!! I caught all 5 of my flatties on nuclear chicken. Even my mate John caught one on a SP as well. You don't need any excuses mate! You outfish me most of the time! We almost headed over to Lobster but ended up going home to the pool instead.
  5. Thanks for the tip Ryder! I will give it a go next time!! Another bit of useful information!!
  6. Yeah it was pretty slow early on but one they started it was on!! We had to leave cause we had a young one on and even with sunscreen she was getting burnt! You lucky bugger with the bluey! I have lost more than I have caught so far! lol
  7. Hi Raiders, Other than a hectic start getting into the water from Pretty Beach this morning we had a good session around the rip bridge. We had a fairly slow start to the day up towards paddys channel with only a just legal bream by my mate John and a first Octypuss for me, both caught on mullet. We went to a spot I have had success before and I pulled in 3 size 40-50cm flatties in 15 minutes.I was luckly enough to get another 2 one at 55cm and the other at 58cm and John got one at around 40cm. According to my mate I missed a massive flatty and he shook himself off at the surface. It's always about the one that got away. I was hoping for a blue swimmer and almost got one to the surface but about a foot from the top he drops off. Brianna our fishnett girl was awesome!! Any advice on how to get blue swimmers into the boat would be appreciated. Feeling quite grateful catching fish and find myself thinking of fishing while I am at work during the week. It wasn't that long ago I was struggling to get a fish on the line. So much good experience and good advice on this site. Sorry about the pictures not having heads on on my brag mat. I was just finished cleaning them and I realized I hadn't taken a picture yet.
  8. I am definitely up for a session on Saturday morning early hoping for some flatties but would be very happy to get onto some blue swimmers as well. I love those blues swimmers!! I have a mate and his daughter coming up to stay with us on Saturday late and they are keen to go out on the boat to do a bit of fishing on Sunday early. At least the wind looks pretty good for Sunday morning. Monday is a no brainer! Stay away at all costs!! Good luck to everyone and hope you catch that elusive jewie! You can tell me all about it Saturday morning!
  9. Nice catch mate!! I have fished there before on land and in the boat and usually get a catch. I have had good luck getting nippers at Hardys bay about an hour or so before low tide.
  10. Now that's a good catch there!! Were these caught in the bay?
  11. Hit the water at 6am with Central Coast 795. What a beautiful day it was/is!! From memory Shaun kicked it off with a nice little flattie on s/p nuclear chicken. I was lucky enough to catch my PB flattie on sp nuclear chicken as well at 57cm. Bloody stoked!!! Ended up catching a real nice snapper also at 40cm on woollies squid. It was great to hear the sound of the drag as it went off, rod bent over. It put up a good fight but in the end we finally got him onto the boat. What a little beauty!! Also got onto some squid as well. Always seems to be squid about lately. They will go down well tonight after being marinated in white wine, garlic, fresh red chillies from the backyard and virgin olive oil. All in all another good day on the water. If I get a chance I will hit it again in the morning pending the approval of course from the boss!!!
  12. Great catch mate!!! Nice of you to give the youngsters a few fish as well!!!
  13. I would like to catch whiting that size mate!! Memories of happy times catching fish! Good work mate!!
  14. Wow, this fish looks like something that is affected by fallout after a nuclear explosion!!! Definitely a C&R!!! Nice picture though!!!
  15. I will send you a PM as I am not sure if my father will be visiting from QLD. Netherless, I am keen to go out again!!
  16. Yeah, great day on the water the other day even though it was a slow start! Even better that I got my first fish on a soft plastic. You are keen to be out in such weather mate. Thats dedication for you!!! lol I will be hanging out to go again next weekend. I have been going out 2-3 times per week over the last month whilst on holidays and now it is back to weekends only.

  18. Mate! What a catch!! It's not every day you catch a beauty like this one!! Enjoy your meal!!
  19. Mate I have a few tools similar to what you are looking for. We can check em out on the weekend!
  20. I am certainly no expert mate. Do a search on here titled blue swimmers or even google for some tips. I have a feeling location may have a lot to do with it
  21. Headed out to my usual spot around 5pm just before the turn of the tide. Ran into another raider at the boat ramp who just came back from being outside and said he had caught a 70kg marlin. That's a hell of a fish! I was onto a nice flattie as soon as I anchored up and put a line out using green prawn. He was around 42cm and I sent him straight to the esky. It wasn't too long before I pulled in another flattie at about 40cm. It went off the bite for around an hour and the only thing I was getting were pinkies that all went back. I tried for blue swimmers but didn't even look like getting one. I thought I would target these today as usually I just end up getting them out of the blue and not really trying to get them. No such luck today. I upped anchor and moved to another spot and picked up a nice little flounder at around 27cm. Finally finished off with a 29cm bream. Nice arvo on the water and to top it off I came home with a feed. :-) Cheers,
  22. Sounds like it was worth the trip up here mate! Another few centimetres and you would've had a decent feed! Well you ended up winning against the sea this time mate!! Good luck for next time!!!
  23. Definitely a banjo ray shark mate!! They feel pretty good on the line but are dissapointing if you take the time and trouble to fillet and cook them. At least you got a decent tailor to take home!! Cheers, Greg
