  1. I will be there. Hopefully a Fishraider is in the number 1 spot Cheers Lee
  2. After some discussions with Ken he has approved the following. I was not going to post it even after Ken said it was ok, but I have decided that I would like to help out all the Fishraiders attending the classic with the hope that maybe one of you guys will win it or at least win something If you are after some excellent baits for the upcoming Hawkesbury Classic then give the guys at Windsor Bait and Tackle a call. They have fresh Hawkesbury squid that has been frozen in its ink ( very fresh ) and some very very fresh local Hawkesbury Prawns as well. If you want any fresher than you will have to catch your own lol Cheers Lee
  3. Yes but its still very disheartening. I can see both sides of the story and I beleive that some people don't want to put in the hard yards to get a similar result. i have no issues with posting up pics with blured backgrounds. Its all about fishing. Any some remarks in other threads about certain anglers and thier gear ( when read between the lines ) is a stab in the back and I hate that. I can't believe we are heading this way. I still stand by what I said before. Cheers Lee
  4. After this morning my care factor is below zero Cheers Lee
  5. What a sh*t fight. I would never give up a good spot over the net. I would however give it via pm or email to all the guys who have helped me out and guys I have met. The reason? So only people that input on this site could get the benifit. Plenty of people surf this site and don't contribute. Why let them flog an area that they previously knew nothing about and use this site as a free way to get info and spots without contributing. I beleive guys like swoff and jew hunter and swordfisherman have a right to a secret spot. Remember its only secret unless you ask them where it is! have a think about that before drive guys like this away. Cheers Lee
  6. I have to work Saturday and Sunday, but I will be out at the presentation hopefully handing out some goodies. Cheers Lee
  7. Pro bream in on there this weekend. maybe some guys might have some reports from there then. Cheers lee
  8. Thanks Shane. Seems you are always there to apss on the relevant info when it comes to hand Its a shame that the rest of the government can't pass through changes to legislation as quick as they did this Cheers Lee
  9. Not at all. I'm hoping that question was not menat as a derogatory remark?
  10. I wonder if the local member for the Port Stepehens area got in Ronalds ear about how the amount of sharks bought into a well know beach area would upset the tourism indusrty in the area I distictly remember a certain video been made at Tomaree head showing huge tigers and massive cobia and no one was allowed to mention where it was as it could reduce the numbers of visitors to area if they knew what lurked close by the beaches. Looks like the boys can just slow troll salmon of the boats behind the breakers now. Once the make new rules, smart aussies always find a loop hole or way around it Cheers Lee
  11. Yeah it was a reasonable trace I think from the look of it possibly 250-500lb but its hard to remember the size, but then again pulling a white through breakers and he's chomping down on the trace, i would suspect even a heavy trace to be wasted in those conditions as the pressure of the waves and current and shark would enourmous. Also have a look at this pic. Shows 2 teeth from a megolodon compared to a tooth taken from a 3m white pointer. Cheers Lee
  12. I to thought the trace was a bit thin. I have a 1000lb wire trace at home and its massive compared to the ones they were using. Not proclaiming to be an expert by any strech of the imagination but you do find that most of the whites in Australia eat fish, especially snapper and salmon. They do eat seals etc but the aust whites diet is made up more of fish unlike the dyer island whites and californian's who's main diet is seals. I would hazard a guess ( knowing the area ) but you would find some larger whites off the back and out of sight in the deeper water. Whalers and tigers also follow the salmon schools. Having said that I do agree with Jethro in saying a large white would rather eat a seal than salmon, but if salmon is all thats around then you just don't know. If its hungry its got to eat. Cheers Lee
  13. Yeah it was a great watch last night. Good to see that there looks to be an increase in small whites around our coastlines. After watching the show I can't help but feel that they targeting great whites and are able to get away with it cause they are tagging them. Last night it didn't seem like many details like weight estimate, size etc were being taken about the shark when it was captured so the data could be related to the tag number. This bit may have been omitted for the tv possiblly. Either way I hope they are getting valuable data that can be used to unwrap the mysterys of the whites. Cheers Lee
  14. Right with you there Bashir. What about the grease thats in the base of the spool. Wouldn't the water reduce the amount of grease? I would also assume that the drag washers would have a reduced time frame if constantly soaked in water. I do exactly the same as Swoffa. Cheers Lee
  15. What I meant was the way they are going about it dangerous. They can tag them if they want but the maner in which they are going about makes them pretty stupid. If they get attacked then who's going to have to deal with the actions. not them thats for sure. There will be a shark hunt on and the media will be all over it. Surfer attacked by great white shark is what will be on the front pages of all the newspapers over the country. Like I said if they have got approval by the fisheries to do it then fine. Now if they haven't well they are breaking the law. Plain and simple. Cheers Lee
  16. I bet if one of them gets taken then they will be up in arms, yelling and screaming about how all sharks close to beaches should be killed. Cheers Lee
  17. Sorry guys this is what I was trying to post up before and i beleive it to be the current ruling on great whites - "It is illegal to catch and keep, buy, sell, possess or harm great white sharks (or any other threatened species in NSW) without a specific permit, licence or other appropriate approval, and significant penalties apply. For vulnerable species these penalties can include fines of up to $55,000 and up to 1 year in prison. There can also be significant penalties for causing damage to the habitat of a threatened species without approval" Cheers Lee
  18. I agree totally Pedro 100%, but there are ways to specifically target only whites. If the fisheries caught you with a white hooked beside your boat they could easily make an example of you if they wanted to. No doubt there will some clowns targeting them now after reading and hearing about the numbers off stockton. Cheers Lee
  19. White pointers are a protected species. The law mandates heavy fines, boat confiscation, and jail sentences for anyone caught catching, killing, specifically targeting or injuring white sharks, or dealing in white shark products. It is against the law to catch a white, no matter how its caught. Cheers Lee
  20. I heard about this throught the grapevine 3-4 weeks ago. I thought they must be asking for trouble and I typically assumed that it would have been the "redneck" element playing a very dangerous game with a very intelligant animal As long as they have the approval of the fisheries then its ok to target them for research matters Stockton at this time of year has always been a white haven due to the long extensive nature of the beach, when at this time of year holds heaps of salmon, tailor, jew and mullet. Many of the whites follow the salmon schools up from down south and i believe other whites join in the pack along the migration route. Would you be suprised if I said some of the biggest tiger sharks you will ever see patrol this beach on a regular basis cause they do. This is why i stay on the beach or in a boat most of the time Cheers Lee
  21. Have agree with you there wakd. Fish Berowra on the weekend and started at a late 8:30ish. ramp was empty. I love fishing in the rain, but the wind always spoils a good day out
  22. Early on in the week I had planned to take a mate for his first SP fishing experience. He had never fished with sps ever and had never really used light gear to tackle bream. The plan was for me to basically guide and help him with tying rigs, explaining certain retrieves and explaining that with the lure we were using ( not bass minnows ) that most of the fish fall victim to them on the drop. I also told him we would bring some bait along so if he did not get any fish on sps he could throw some bait on a jig head and twitch the bait the same way as the sp ( this was to get his confidence up ). Well we decided to leave late at around 5:45am, but as it appeared the rain had set in we made a decision to give it a miss After about an hour the sky’s cleared and I was keen to fish but had no one to fish with at such short notice and it was to early to ring most people. I called Swoffa and thought about fishing the ausbream at Roseville but decided by the time i left Richmond and got to Roseville it would have been after 8. Swoffa gave me the heads up on the weather ( thanks mate ) and I decided to call my mate and tell him we were on for the half a day. So we made a quick trip to Berowra and put the boat in and started targeting the shore line. My mate hade never flicked an sp ever so I was giving him some of my knowledge hoping he would land his first fish on sp. I thought a flattie would be the target species for him. Well I got it all wrong. After half a dozen casts he got smoked by a monster bream and was sh*tting himself about the force the bream hit lures with. After being smoked 2 more times he finally wrestled an angry bream out from some mangroves that went around 26cm to the fork. He was stoked and I was even happier to have put him onto a bream within 30 mins of flicking his first ever sp. Then wind later picked up and made fishing very uncomfortable for where we were. We found a nice bay and fished baits for a while for a few fish and got smoked by something that hit the bait like a freight train and almost snapped my mates new struddy. I ended up with the obligatory legal flathead ( I always get them ) and a handful of small bream due to the lack of lure time in the water. I had more fun explaing and teaching my mate the techniques and the locations of where the fish. He had a great session and I told him " Welcome to the SP addiction " Cheers Lee
  23. Top fish mate. Ahhh Nambucca. I love that place. Its one on my favoutite places to fish for a week. Always has big lizards. Cheers Lee
  24. My 2 cents worth. Yes I would take my girlfriend out on my boat any time. When fishing estuarys she can drive the boat, steer the minn kota better than most blokes I know and is very very good at fishing ( even if it is bait fishing ). Also when we make our annual pilgrimage to Port Stephens, she even drives the boat outside ( 4-5 km's ) offshore whilst we are trolling for tuna and marlin and dollies( my boat is only a 455 profish ). She baits up by herself and even gets the captured fish off the hook and when I hook up on a good fish she winds her line in and is standing there ready with the net to land the fish. Then only things left to teach her is to tie some rigs, fish with lures and to reverse the car down to the ramp. She is really one in a million Cheers Lee
