    Wallaby Bucket

Gday mate, A wallably bucket is a robust canvas bucket, and is designed so as not to collapse, distort or lose the handle when full of water. You should be able to buy one at any camping supply store. Cheers Bob
  2. Gday Mate. To Fishraider What a fantastic catch you have there. Its great to see the river is starting to fire up again. Ive fished regulary around Balmain over the last few months without getting a single keeper. If time work permits this week Ill be out for sure giving it ago. As long as you dont eat fish from west of the bridge 3 time aday 7 days a week you will be fine. A feed of fish every week or two will not have an effect. I know a bloke that wont eat fish caught past the bridge but dosnt see anything wrong with smoking 2 packs a day. Cheers Balmain Bob
  3. Gday Mate, Found this link at the fisheries site that should answer all your questions http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pd...th_Wales_150.pd Cheers Balmain Bob
  4. Gday mate, I too, had a similar problem with the motor on my first boat. I found that the problem was air gettining into the fuel line. I just renewed the entire fuel line and that fixed the problem. My fuel line was quite old and the connections to the tank and to the motor appeared to be loose. cheers Balmain Bob
  5. Well done the these kids for handing in the money. The chances of it being claimed are negligable as it is has most likely come from an illegal source and the owner of it is not about to claim it from the cops as he would have to prove where it came from. Also by handing in the money the kids are going to receive back clean money from the cops. They wont have to lie to people when asked where the money came from and risked being arrested and charged with stealing (larceny) by finding or goods in custody as happened to a bloke in Sydney who found $250 000 dumped in a street in chippendale. He was dobbed in by a co worker who found a backpack full of money under this blokes desk. He ended up with a criminal record and had no claim for the money. Had he handed it in he would have got it back. If the money is not claimed in few weeks, I believe that it is 6 weeks now, used to be 12. They can apply to the commisoner of police to claim the money. Just think of all the fishing gear and the boat you cold buy with that amount of cash Balmain Bob
  6. Gday Mate , Here is a link to the map that you are looking for. http://www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/docs/maps/portjack_front.pdf Also here is a li9nk to the rest of the maps on the NSW Maritime site. http://www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/publications/maps.html Hope this helps Cheers Bob
  7. Well done Ben. Nice fish there mate. You have to love Jewgaffers comment. "thats a good size school jewfish". If thats a schoolie, what size is a big one/ You would be amazed what you can catch in the Georges River, most of it dosnt need to be cured with penicilin or antibiotics now either.. It has become a very productive system and your catch just goes to show what it is capable of producing. Cheers Balmain Bob
  8. Here is a link to the real story behind the accident http://airlineworld.wordpress.com/2007/11/...engine-testing/ cheers Balmain Bob
  9. Thanks Raiders. I had a quite day with a few beers at the local with a few mates and then followed by a few more beers then a nice baked dinner and a bottle or 2 of a nice red My head is telling all about it this morning Might have to hit the early opener up the road Cheers Bob
  10. Gday Tan, I would suggest that you use steel for the posts and the bearears/beams but it would have to be galvanized to minimize rust etc and then use timber for the joists and decking. Using steel is going to be more expensive than doing it out of timber. A timber deck that designed and built correctly and is looked after should last about 10 years give or take a year. I will give you a call wednesday afternoon Cheers Bob
  11. Tan, Can you please clarify your post. What type of decking are you after? Is it for a boat? Or is it for a domestic deck off the back of you house?,etc Im a carpenter/builder and happy to advise you if it is a houshold deck. Cheers Balmain Bob Give me a call on 0423320825 , but please, not beforeWednesday afternoon. or PM me
  12. You can get bonus points by eliminating all the dots from the screen. that explans why the high score is 578 Bob
  13. Gday Raiders, I was looking at the maritine web site and came across this new service. It appears to be a good idea for the responsible boatie and rock fisher http://www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/docs/minist...itime_alert.pdf Cheers Balmain Bob
  14. The only fishing that is banned is the fishing done with at net, ie: trolling one behind your boat All other types of fishing are allowed Just read what the notice says, it is very clear on what type of fishing is banned. BalmainBob
  15. Gday Raiders, I will believe the drumoyne ramp upgrade when i see it . It is now 4 years after they first started talking about it balmian bob
  16. Gday Raiders , Was enyone lucky enough to be outside fishing this morning and saw the 6 or so whales that were travelling up the coast? Unfortunatley i was stuck working on a house at Coogee that had a superb veiw of the ocean and had to watch the action from shore. We saw about 4 of them break the surface around a small yatch that was sailing north at the time. It must have scared the sh t out of the sailor. during the rest of the day I noticed a few more heading north. They would have been no more that 3 km of the coast. the sea todday was as flat as it ever gets. Cheers Balmain Bob
  17. Mate, I believe that fixed trim tabs would be useless. Trim tabs are there to allow you to trim the way the boat is handelling in varing condidtions. Having fixed trim tabs is like driving your car in 1st gear only. Balmain Bob
  18. THIS MATTER SHOULD NOW BE LEFT FORF THE CORONER TO INVESTIGTE.
  19. Gday, If it was at the melbourne boat show you can bet it will be at the Sydney boat show in a few weeks time. I for one will be looking out for it afte owning a bar crusher it would be a great atttchment when out fishing alone. I will be going on the first day of the show and will attempt to find info Cheers Bob
  20. Great work Byron. Just a thought! How long would it take to read all you posts in one sitting? You are a very great and appreciated source of information. I know that I have learnt alot from many of your post since becomming a member of this site. All the best for the future and I await post 5000 Cheers Balmain Bob
  21. GDay Mate, If I was you I would place a post in Desparate and boatless. There is probably another bloke with a young one who would love to have a junior fishing buddy with him for the day. That way Mr5 has a new fishing buddy and you have made a new mate. I dont have kids but i have seen how problematic they can become when they get bored not catching anything. And you are not allowed to use them as bait cheers bob
  22. Mate, I was fishing at Yurulbin Point (used to be called Long Nose Point) about 2 months ago and when I arrived there was a school of rat kingies making thier way around snails bay. Every 10 minutes or so you would here them break the surface. Sudenly they appeared right infront of me, right at the rock wall. I had just recently purchased a baitcaster and a shimano calisto reel and was ( and still are trying to learn how to use it) practicing casting the new setup. I quickly put on a squid lure, that I purchased at Go Fish, and cast it into the swirling school of fish. The result, and immidiate hook up. As the kingie was on the surface when it took the lure the fight was on. After a few minutes and a few good runs I managed to get it the the wall but not having a landing net or a gaff with me the next problem was how to land the fish. As i was trying to steer it around the corner of the wall and onto the rock where I could jump on it and could engage in hand to fish combat the bloody thing spat the lure It would have been just under legal size I keep telling my self I was very annoyed with myself for not sinking the hook properly but thats life. Yes the kings do lurk there but you have to be lucky to see them let alone catch one. Each time that I fish around balmain I always have a rod and lure ready just in case. Cheers Balmain Bob
  23. Gday Raiders, Below is the link to the legislation regarding the use of nets in this area. http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pd...-88-of-2009.pdf Yes nets are banned. I have also read all the relavant legislation and the use of traps is NOT prohibited. Balmain Bob
  24. Gday Jewgaffer, I will do a bit of reasearch and see if i can find info on the interstate locations. I believe that it should be the responsibillity of NSW FISHERIES to clearly state on their web site under a heading of Where You are Not Allowed to Fish, so that as you say , the average bloke can easily make sure that he is complying with the law. Just like the RTA has a link to all of the road rules and regulations so that you can easily check out any rule or reg . The law about sanctury zones and that if you are caught with fishing gear whilst in a zone you are deemed to be fising (whether you were or not) and can and will be fined and loose you gear is not very well known. With regard to the Lennox Head zone, Here is the link to the map http://www.mpa.nsw.gov.au/pdf/CBMP-brochure-map-side.pdf It appears on the Cape Byron section on the MPA site. I included the link for the Aquatic reserves as there are sanctury zones with some of these reserves as well. Here is the link for Victorias marine park and sanctury zones http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/1bays.cfm Link for Queensland http://www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks_and_forests/marine_parks/ South Australia No Marine Parks as yet but on the way next year. Cheers Bob
  25. GDay Jewgaffer, Here is the link to the Aquatic reserve site that should cover the other areas. http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/parktype...ticReserves.htm Cheers Bob
