  1. Hey raiders. So yesterday a mate and i (after waking up very dusty) decided to go for a fish. After having a big night on the tinnys we decided we didnt wanna go through the effort of getting the yaks and stuff out. Decision was an old spot we used to go bait fishing before lures took over our lives. We wanted to just let some baits soak and sit down and relax. Our mind set was it was just going to be nice to chill out and if we caught some fish then what a bonus. We took 2 rods each loaded with a mixture of fresh raw and cooked prawns. Got down there and started soaking some prawns and getting some smaller bream. There were literally thousands of poddy mullet in shallow so we ran up the road and bougbt a trap. (Best $12 we ever spent!!!!) After one haul we had plenty of bait and released a bucket load more. I sent out a mullet alive and kicking on my 9ft daiwa tdt rod with a 4000 daiwa aird loaded with 8lb braid. After letting it sit out there for 20min at least it started to buckle and this thing was hauling!!! Took about 100m of line in seconds and not slowing down. After only about 30 seconds this fish hadnt even slowed down and ping!!!! Spooled!!! There goes 280m of exceed ; ( no idea what it was. I was in a channel in tuggerah lakes near budgewoi . Any ideas maybe?? Anyway re spooled and new lot of tackle sent out another poddy. We only used one hook through the mouth and up throufh the top of the head. This thing was sitting out there for minimum 30min. As the bream rods with prawns had a quiet spell i said to my mate im just going to check this one. As i hopped up off my chair walking towards it it started buckling again. This thing ran hard again but after about 30 seconds i managed to turn its head. It started swimming to the left with a good buckle in the rod but no drag peeling. I fought the fish for about 2min so easily thought it was hooked and then all of a sudden my line went slack. Looked at my mate with that gutted face you get. Reeled it in and to both our surprise the mullet was still hooked, STILL ALIVE, ANND NOT A BITE MARK OR SCRATCH ON IT!!! so this thing had swallowed the poddy whole. Took off had a fight and then spat the WHOLE mullet out. Any ideas on this thing?? We have caught baby plate sized sting rays. Plenty of bream!! A few flatties to about 60cm and the odd whiting there?? Anyway managed about 8 fish about 4 or 5 legal. All swam off to fight another day. All in all was a great day chillint out with a rod in hand. Just as us fishos are, so curious as to what it could have been haha. Thanks for the read. Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
  2. Nice fish mate. Looks very healthy considering that huge chunk missing. Looks like she recovered well. What rig where you using if you dont mind me askinh? Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
  3. I agree too that this isnt cool as it looks like in the picture that its fin is missing. Is this a sad result from culling or inhumane activity? Very sad to see Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
  4. Im no professional but ever since i have been lure fishing i have found it significantly better. I disagree to the fact it says its the same visibility in the water. I believe fluro is much harder to see. All lines break the same way under strain. Hence why they invented drag. I reckon he could of lost it due to having drag too tight. If the drag was a big looser the line wouldnt of been as tight for when it did rub the rail it may not of had the same breaking way. As i said im no professional but this is my opinion. Interestint read. I will be following this topic hahah Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
  5. I fished there yesty and the sign indicates due to water pollution. Thibk this is a seperate matter to the 2 unfortunate deaths. Will be good to get a bit more info on this as im planning a flatty sesh this weekend haha :/ Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk

  11. You would think so but most 4 stroke jet skis are sooo much quieter than your arverage 2 stroke outboard. Its easy to pack ready for a session and very efficient. Its actually becoming pretty huge. Mostly in qld which is were im mpving to in 2 months. Im thinking the thrill of hooking a dolly or decent kingy/tuna on a ski rather than strapped to a big boat would be a prettu good rushSent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
  12. Gday raiders. Ive been following this topic as has been good banter and love how everyone agrees at the end. So now everything is clear it sounds ljke everyonr loves these stradic 5000s. I am currently looking at investing in getting a new spinning combo about 6'6" as i am about to get intp jet ski fishing. Wpuld you recommend this real for chasing pelagics few miles off shore? 16. Hey fellas. So i have been in a dilemma for a while now. I wanna sell my jet ski to buy a decent fishing boat. A quinny explorer 420 or something equivalent. However the wife wont let me as she loves summer ski days tooo much haha. So was pretty gutted. Now we are moving to gold coast in a few months and was lookiny at fishing stuff while at work (always working hard) :/ haha. So anyway i have now decided to get into jet ski fishing!! Dilemma solved!!! Done a bit of research can pick up a decent rack which fits 65l esky 6 rod holders for rods/gaff/net etc. Has a side thing for a 10l petty tank and then i can attach bits and bobs like lip grips tackle holders etc. So solution is i get to keep my ski (keeps the cheese and kisses happy) and i get the adrenalin of chasing pelagics of a little machine which will be tops. Easy to clean. Easy to maintain and can decide to get up and go with very little set up needed. So my questions are is anyone here experienced in this that can provide me wiyh some tips and suggestions. And even good places to buy the racks from that are marine quality. 17. Hey champ. Regardless of age or income. 80 bucks is 80 bucks. Sucks to hear dude. Unfortunately to say but in fishing you loose gear. Yesterday me an my 2 mates went squidding and thry both lost there new jigs they bought yesterday they were 23 an 16 bucks. Haha bunmer!!!! Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
  18. I willingly admit going to the beach i ALWAYS take 2 rods. Either two soaking baits whilst i chill or one soaking a bait whislt throwing plastics lol. But people that use the maximum legal allowance of 4 or ones using even more i completly understand your frustrations Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
  19. Hahaha beauty!!! Good luck mate we look forward to the reports Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk

  24. Hey everyone. I got my first squid the other day. Cleaned it then and there at the beach then took the head home. As i wanted to eat it a few hours later i just put it in a bowl in the fridge with foil over the top. When i went to go eat it it seemed a bit hard. Is this normal or is there certain ways to keep the flesh nice and soft?? Cheers Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
  25. Thanks everyone!! Was pretty stoked. Tasted bloody brilliant to say the least. Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
