Listen whenever i rig my line i stick the line in the sink or a bucket of water and spool it on holding it with my hand to rod to keep it reasonably tite if i do it like that i never get tangles if your hands arnt up to the line running throuigh them you can always use a wet rag to put betwwen yoour hands and the line and rod ....works a treat no needed ...save you $14 too

I am heading back out tommorrow for some beach action at the entrance where the channel comes out too the ocean in the morning 6AM if anyone is keen to tag along i did alright there this morning with 2 lizzards within 1.5 hours i only left early cause the tide caught me but tommorrow will be perfect with the low at 7am so if anyones keen and needs a lift pm me before 9:30pm tonight. I will be going from 6Am til about 10Am
  7. Thats what i was thinking just have to hope weather and swell is right the tide will be high at 6:30am on the sunday not the tide i like but it will have too do. I would hate to try if there are 30knot winds lol or a 2-3m swell like last weekend
  8. I decided to give the entrance beach a go this morning and i am glad i did. I got up at 5:30 am and headded for the beach i stopped at the fishing shop to get some pillies. I wasn't to confident in my ability to catch some livies. I got to the channel at around six and burleyed up in the hope i coud net some potty mullet with no luck they where no where to be found. By 6:30 it was starting to get light so i headed to the beach the tide was perfect for a short 2 hour session it was the very bottom of the tide but i still had a nice channel running out past the sand bar. I wacked on a pillie and waded out to the sand bar so i could get my bait on the other side of this channel that was heading out east north east to the right of me. I casted it landed right where i wanted and got pulled into the channel. I kept letting line out slowly as the current pulled until Bang i was on not even 10min beauty pulled her in and it was a 41cm lizzard. What a start i was hoping to catch some samon but faer i should have been on the other side of the channel oh well the will love the flatty now i need one for me. I baited back up and headed out and within 30 min and a couple of casts same as previous catch another hit. Wow this one felt better than the last one i pulled this one in carefully so as not to bust off, I was using my fathers passed down 12ft beach rod with overhead alvey and 9lb mono line love that combo, another lizzard this one much fatter than the last i didn't measure him but imagine he went about 48cm you can see in the photos. Being happy with that i shifted off as the tide begain to kick me off the sand bar. I tryed the rocks at Terrigal between the skillion and the boat house, a diver that i met he was leaving as i was on my way in said he had seen some kingies but i tryed there for an hour or so and no good the ocean was so calm this morning and just a slight south east wind i was very happy with my effort.
  9. nice job and that is some nice lookin fish
  10. now thats determination I cant say that i would have the balls to be standing out in a thunder storm with a 12ft fishing i mean lightning rod. Great report loved every minute of it

  12. for boat i have a penn 220gto reel with 50lb line and a Oceanmaster triple bound stand up game rod. I changed from 25lb to 50lb cause the big bastards kept running for the reef and snappin me off

  15. I caught some AS the other week for the fisrt time and man what fun to see th fish you have just hooked launch out of the water like a marlin. Awsome fun and mad to eat. my recepe 1tbls flour 1tbls butter/marg 1-2 cups milk 1tsp salt/pepper 1 clove crushed garlic 1 lemon 2tbls olive oil sauce directions melt the butter in a small pot carful not to burn it add flour and stur until the butter and flour are in 1 ball (more flour may need to be added to do this) careful not to let it burn then slowly add milk a little bit at a time and stir it through then a little bit more and stir it through if you add the milk to quickly it will go lumpy. When all milk is added to desired thikness be sure to bring it to the boil stirring constantly. Add salt, pepper, garlic and a sqeeze of lemon. Be sure to taste it you may want to add more for your desired taste e.g. salt, garlic, lemon. Put lid on and set aside off the heat. fish directions fillet and skin the salmon Dont forget to trim off all the blood then shallowfry in the olive oil probably about 2 minutes each side (now the fish will somewhat stick it takes a bit of work to keep it in one piece but it can be done) serve and top the fish with the sauce and serve with chips or salad YUMMMMM
  16. i hit the beach on thursday and same last week. I got nothing last week was all blown out 20-30knots on shore and thursday was beautiful weather but the swell was 2-3metres making it very difficult to keep the bait on. I was using pillies hopfully next week will prove better...
  17. i hit the beach this mornine (foresters and the entrance) but the swell is really crankin (good for surfers not good for fishing) so thats my fishing weekend over
  18. Just make sure you are using the right knots and you may well get more strenght out of it somewhere closer to where it is supposed to be....might make you feel better too....
