  1. I'm a sugapen fan. With surface walked you have to pause for bream, for whiting no pause, they lose interest.
  2. The Cooks keeps producing the goods, such a pity about the pollution . For edibles you could try around the marina on the SW side of the spit. Get in early and get a park in Clontarf the street behind the viaduct . Easy beach launch. Big fish.
  3. That's not a bad bream, any fish is a good fish . Haha Just wondering , the fish you saw could have been another lost Barra? It coincides with lunar new year. We saw a big orange carp, dead, off Rozelle Sunday.
  4. Oh so close to being a keeper, I'm sure it won't be long before you crack the 70 cm mark. It's obviously a pretty good spot, you got more than one. The bigger one looks like he had a chunk out of his back. Solid bream your brother got too. Well done.
  5. Great session mate. I love that your mates dog eats them. Imagine that, haha.
  6. I agree with PatW, they are few and far between, but it doesn't stop me having a go. Most of the jewfish in Sydney don't come off the beaches, they come from the estuary systems. Here is a link to an ongoing DPI research project . Be sure to click on the newsletters. It will give you an idea of when, where and how many are being caught by dedicated fishos. http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/researchangler

Mate they agreed a bad lot, and replaced it with the same. I probably got it in November, so the new one shouldn't be from the same batch. I haven't had the chance to try it yet. I am taking onboard the advice, no sand on the hands when tying knots. Always have a hand wash bucket. And like Iceman suggested, using a uni rather than a locked half blood knot to reduce fiction. The store I use doesn't stock vanish, for the same issues I had. Hopefully things are different next time out. I was fishing another new spot, privately owned, and it could have been a great first session.

Cheers, they're a great bunch of guys.
  9. Probably not your target, but that's a pretty good result. I wonder why so many big ones are in the same spot. Spawning? Do you think the bust off was a Jewie or a shark? Glad you bent the rod a few times.

Thanks guys, I took it back to the shop. They tested it, and it was dodgy. They replaced it for me.
  11. Great session guys. And a great mix of species. Well done.
  12. A bit disappointing the bigger kings aren't cooperating. But that Samson should make a fine meal. From my job site, I could see bust ups just east of gladesville in the morning, but quiet later on. I hope there is some action tomorrow.
  13. You smashed your PB. Well done

P No exposure, it stays in my backpack. The worst part is , obviously, it snaps when a fish is on. But re tying to get back into it takes 2 or more tries just to get a knot that doesn't snap. And the fish are there to be caught.

Fishing for blackfish, I recently changed to using FC Rock. I know now what the FC stands for..... it's garbage. I snapped the leader 5 times on fish this arvo, a few times on the weekend, and more the weekend before. It even snaps when tying knots... Locked up 1/2blood knot lubed, tighten, tug, snap. When tying it snaps at the knot, during the fight, it snaps anywhere. Can anyone give me a good alternative, I'm losing too much gear and too many fish. Cheers. Ryder
  16. Someone has to make the call to DPI. I have fished in Cockle Bay, but it was in the pond outside the old SEGA Centre.15 years ago maybe. My wife and I were headed for the Aquarium when I saw the signs. Catch a fish, Win a Rod. The Scouts had a fundraiser, they stocked the pond with Silver Perch, $10 for 1/2 hr. I got one, and took the new rod to the Aquarium,
  17. Mate, if you can afford it, and maintain it, and have a place off street to keep it. BUY THE BOAT.!!! We live on the greatest natural harbour in the world. When you have a boat it's an exclusive playground. With a boat you can explore, discover, and enjoy the place. There's so much you can do you can't do landbased. Target kings on the markers, drift for flatties, chase surface action or find a place chill out. Plenty of other places to catch squid apart from North Harbour, and you're in the best place to ask where. I think the ban was put in place once people became aware of the penguin nesting sites in the area, and it refers to No invertebrates, I reckon this was to stop the commercial prawners. You can imagine what those nets would catch.
  18. Great job Seamus. Yourself, Jordan and Gianni are very versatile fishermen.
  19. Sorry, ....Great catch. 31kg, that's big... What did you get him on?
  20. The north coast is a great hunting ground. And it could really fire up with the flood water.
  21. Wow,..what a great day and report. Mmm sashimi. Are you trying to wear out the drags on those reels? Ryder
  22. Nice work mate , I bet it gave a great fight. I know it wasnt what you were after, but you could have fed the tribe with that.
