  1. You overcame it with a nice Flatty. I've had so many days like that, both fishing and work. Impossible scenarios you can't avoid. I used to take it hard, you've got to stop and breathe. 2 years ago the night before leaving to go to Paris, worked all day got the house and cat sorted, I went around the corner to buy a beer, coming back the ball joint snapped one wheel lying flat on the road. 50m from home, it took 4 hrs to get sorted. I was lucky it was a quiet street, it could have happened on Anzac Bridge. Oh yea nice flounder too, I've never got one of the beach. Ryder
  2. Do you use anything like sfactor?
  3. Thats a solid bream mate.Well done. Ive heard about crabbies from Seamus and Gianni I have to give them a go. They seem to sink slowly. Slower than a jerk shad.
  4. Nice haul mate. You've a few nice meals there. I fillet and skin flathead, its easier to do with the head on. Gives you somehing to hang on to.
  5. Hi all. I went back today with my nephews Iew Calum for his first crack at them. I explained the technique and what to look for and we got started. Sonya said it rained very hard last night and I thought the fish may have gone. It was a slow start before I got a touch , and pulled up a solid ocean fish. Calum got a few downs, then he hook up, but dropped the fish at the net. I got another, then Cal was on again. He didn't rush it and played him out ro th net. Sonya made us a bite to eat, while we were filling our faces both floats went down. Typical, you look away and the fish bite. We missed them both. Things slowed at the tide change and we moved to a difcerent spot. We got a couple more then called it a day. I'm happy Calum got his first, we may have a new member. A few pics one of the head of the big boy
  6. It was our friend Sonyas birthday today, she was at her dads place Happy birthday kiss kiss She didn't answer the door, in the shower. Jacqui says Just go, So.... 2nd drift fish, then another 8. One under size went back immediately, the rest went back later. im taking my nephew for his first go tomorrow. So I will get back on this post.
  7. That was a great day, Richard was one of the first guys I met.
  8. Well done again, If only there was a bounty on carp.
  9. Amazing. Good luck mate.
  10. That's a great fish mate, congratulations. Nice work too releasing the old girl. They aren't good eating at that size . Great stuff.
  11. Bad luck mate. It looks like the rotor has detatched from the rest of the reel. If you take the spool off there should be a hex shaped locking ring, or nut at the base of the shaft. This nut is locked in place by a small grub screw next to it. The screw could have come out, allowing the locking ring to come loose. This is best case scenario, the pieces could still be under the spool, so take care.
  12. You're absolutely smashing it. Just back from the Barra and onto the Bass. Well done mate. How many fish do you think you've got so far this holidays?
  13. Being land based mostly I'd go with my 2-4kg catana for plastics, lures and bait fishing. Then my Synder MT4144 for blackfish in the harbour and off the rocks, plus some light beach work.

    Beer

If you can find it, you have to try Beerlao. The Lao people take their beer seriously. It's the nations biggest if not only export. Arguably the worlds best larger. Goes great with Chilli Mud Crab.
  15. Mate Drummoyne is fine. Good ramps. Nice jetty. Free parking. No cleaning tables though. It does get busy on weekends, a lot of novices, I've seen bingles in the carpark. A lot further to motor out than Roseville, but they hit you hard for parking. Is Tunks park still free? That's good except for the long run thru the 4kt zone from the ramp. It probably only one km but seems longer .
  16. Hi Raiders. It's great to see all the reports coming in on the gamefishing front, Wahoo, Marlin and Dollies. Meanwhile inside the harbour the blackfish have gone quiet. I headed out yesterday early and hit up Johns jetty. Fished it for a couple of hours for zip. I made the move to another reliable spot, and the same again, not even a touch. Sunday had planned to go with Trevor to Johns, but after my result it was decided to go try the lower harbour. Turned out to be a very fashionable spot, attracting the finest class of people. We arrived at 5.45am only to see Royce, Paul and a couple of other well known blackfishers already there. With no fish in the bag after an hour or so, Trevor and Royce moved around the corner. Shortly after Royce comes back with a fish, 'You gotta know how to fish this spot' Paul and I packed up and headed over. There were a few touches, then I got a good down and a nice 42cm fish was in the net. We moved again for the last bit of the runout and managed a couple more fish. Royce got onto a Surgeon that gave him a massive run only to bust off before stopping. So we only got a few, some good ones, but that's fishing. Ryder
  17. That's a great big mama. Well done on the 6 lb. Nice release.
  18. Sorry, my stupid sausage fingers delete my first post. WOW. Are the fish down there on the gear. I've heard of tailor that go over the metre mark. Something in the waters.
  19. Nice work mate, as usual. That's a great Bream. All on the new combo?
  20. Great job mate, that's a nice fish.
  21. Have a look at Bicentanial Park at the end of Glebe Pt Road. Fish around the mouth of the canal, and even the canal itself.
  22. You definitely got some good fishing time in. The flatly, the squid, the snapper. Excellent . Oh so close on the Jewies. Well done, sound like a great holiday.
  23. I like the view from Taronga Zoo, looking towards the city. I can't think what the land would be worth. It's a great asset.
