Yes they are using floats, and lights, landbased. Dont strike too quick. d
  2. Great report guys, you certainly got some fishing done, for great results. Well done.
  3. Mate, the video is unplayable.

My korean mate has been getting them for the past few weeks in Newcastle. Not huge but good numbers. Hundreds of people chazing them too.

    What can I say

Sorry I've taken it down. But that made me gag, haha
  6. Nice one mate, that is a surprise. I have heard of them taking plastics, but not HB. They must be hungry down there.
  7. It's a Quokka, most likely on Rottnest Island.
  8. Great bag mate, well done. It is fun in clear water when you can see the fish move on the bait. But then again it can be frustrating, when you can see them and they won't commit. It sounds like you started fishing for them a bit shallow. Then when you went deeper you were on the fish. I usually start deep and gradually shallow up. This is what I do, guesstimate the depth and set the float stopper. Put a weight on the hook, a sinker wrapped in tape does the job for me. Cast out, the sinker should take the hook to the bottom, and drag the float under. If it only just goes under, move the stopper down the line. If I goes way under. Move it up the line. I generally start about 12-18inches of the bottom. So when setting up with the weight, the float is 12-18 inches below the surface of the water. Weight comes off, bait goes on, float sitting normally, the hook is 12-18 inches off the bottom Good luck with the new rod, It's a very enjoyable and productive style of fishing. Ryder
  9. Net injury. Probably taken by a trawler. We get heaps of blackfish with the same.
  10. I'm using an alvey 475TCS, (Tension Control System.) It has a side cast option, and the tension control helps in learning centrepin casting, it's slows the spin.
  11. I have a wilson 10ft6 and its great for the estuary. For the rocks I use a Synderglass MT 4144. Its longer and stronger. I also have a vintage Slazenger given to me by Luderick Angler, which I treasure. The old Butterworth and Sportex rods are worth their weight in gold
  12. I have used vitanin B1 while on Fraser Island. You start taking a daily dose 2 weeks before travel. I didnt have a problem with tbem. Otherwise for mozzies etc I use Rid.
  13. Great job on those salmon. It must have been tough with that wind, having no motor. Glad you got a few and got back in one piece.
  14. Nice one. You know that equals the Fishraider record.
  15. So it was a case of if you can't beat em join em, or get them to join you. Haha Well done
  16. Hi Raiders, Headed out to the northern beaches early this morning to meet Trevor for another instructional session off the rocks. Driving down and listening to Hightide, the big blow was on the way, but the spot we had was fairly protected. We met up while it was still dark, and had to wait for first light before heading down the escarpment. You could see the southerly coming, dark water and white caps. The swell wasn't bad and the ledge was well protected from the worst of the wind. Trevor was on from the first drift. Then he's on again, luckily I was also able to make a contribution to the bag, but he was outfishing me 3 to 1. Although the swell wasn't bad, the spray had us both soaked thru, it seemed to follow me as I tried to move to avoid it. As the wind really picked up we pulled the pin with 11 fish in the bag. Trevor has the photos. Ryder
  17. Great report. Congratulations, that's a very respectable first. Top stuff.
  18. I can remember in the eighties, Hammerheads schooling along Palm Beach and the inside beach. They had aerial pictures, the sharks could be seen everywhere in the shallows. At least 100 of them.
  19. Another great session guys. You really love the light gear. Haha. Well done. I hope you get your Hoodlum soon.
  20. Mate those are some Elbow Slappers. Great work. I have found fishing just behind a big shore dump can produce surprises. The big waves dislodge more food.
  21. Over recent years, exotic species have been released into the harbour as a part of the Buddhist ritual Tsethar. Live fish are bought at restaurants, or markets and set free. The Barra are turning up because of this, they will all be dead by winter when the water gets cold. I saw one at Tarban Creek last year and posted a photo, soon after I caught a very sick one in a net at Pyrmont. CNY is Chinese New Year.
  22. That's a good effort, after 3 hrs many would give it away. I'm glad they came on for you. Being landbased makes it more challenging. They're on and gone. Well done.
  23. Looks good. Limited onstreet parking.
