  1. Hey all thank you for your input! I just get off a very windy and choppy sydney harbour and problem is fixed!! Operator error! Started forst turn every turn today as I wasn't pushing the key primer in
  2. Yep sounds like I'm flooding it with the way I am starting ! Looking forward to playing around with it on the water this weekend that's for sure!
  3. Yes I've been doing web searches and many are saying that primer is only when cold ,so it seems like operator error ! Whoops ! my older merc on a Haines ski boat would only start with the primer and I was starting this one like I would the old boat.. Seems I need to get out and get used to the way she goes Thanks gazza, fab1 and Geoff I'll keep monitoring it and do some testing Cheers
  4. Ahh right so a float may need adjustment, float allowes fuel flow past the needles to the carbies? I just had a major service done also so it shouldn't be doing this I'm also thinking with the key primer I was pushing in to start once warm. This may come into account with the problem. If I can't sort it out in a week or two I'll be taking to Huey to have a hunt around. it needs a big run so I'll take it out on the weekend for a day trip.
  5. Hey guys I recently purchased a boat and it has a 95 model 135 hp merc on the back and it's having some issues so I'm after some feedback. First off On the maiden trip attempt I backed down the ramp and went to start the motor to drive off the trailer and she wouldn't start.. After five mins ( ramp was dead) I pulled it out to take the cowling off to check it out and noticed as I drove out there was a massive trail of fuel behind me , proceeded to Take the cowl off and fuel was coming straight out the carbies ! Phoned the dealer and I took it back that arvo and a few days later came back to pick it up with the verdict the needle and seat behind the carbie needed adjustment! So I thought that was it This afternoon on maiden trip attempt two I put in at oatley bay in the georges and it started after a few turns of the key but it was cold so expected for that motor! Parked the car and off I went up the river and she ran like a dream I couldn't believe how well it was pushing the boat along , anyway I got to capt cook bridge to drift so I turned it off then back on to see if it would kick and it was fine. 20 mins later I try to start and it wouldn't fire up at all! Took me a good ten mins to try start it and I could smell the fuel so it so still flooding itself every time to the point I pull the line off and drain the fuel . Once the needle and seat have been adjusted can there be more tweaking to try sort this problem out???? Or may there be more to the issue? After some feedback for myself I'll be ringing the dealer in the morning to see what they can do. They have been fantastic to deal with. Sorry for dribbling on! Cheers jake

    Whoops!

Mate I wouldn't say overboard with prep checks I'm similar! And touch wood no dramas at the ramp.. And hopefully none ever! I remember at drummoyne seeing a brand new boat and must have been maiden voyage slid half off the trailer and smack the rear and engine leg into the ramp but instead of whiching back on for less damage they reversed and pushed in into the water as is

  15. Headed to our place at lake Conjola on the weekend for a quick trip away. Thru the small tinny in the water to punt around and fish in the lake but after many locations I ended up with a big fat zero. Lake is dead at the moment but the enterence is open and absolutely racing in and waters crystal clear so a good sign! Sunday morning up at 530 for a beach session at first light which would only last an hour as my stomach had other plans to come back for brekky! Whilst I was on the beach it was flat and a run out tide about an hour off dead low so it was perfect to fish a gutter at my feet. Hooked up a Pilly and 5 seconds later hooked onto a nice and fat 32 cm bream.. 20 mins later the rod buckles and a few jumps and runs later I have a 50 cm salmon on the beach! Happy days! 630 back for a coffee and brekky! Head out around lunch time for more zeros! And back in sydney dreading work tomorrow
  16. Thanks. Scratchie . I'll head to a tackleshop this week as I wouldn't mind looking onto bait runners 4000 would be good size for what I do. I just wasn't sure with the rod being rated up to 10 kg Thanks
  17. Just just after some advice for a reel to match my 4-10 kg rod. It's a Jarvis walker tempest 2 pcs rod and I know it's an oldie but was my grandfathers given to me so I'd like to keep it and find a good size reel to fit for the perfect match as an all rounder Thanks in advance

  20. Today I had about half hour to kill so I hit gymea baths to try for some squid as I've never fished for them After about 15 mins I got my first hit and unfortunately my only in 30 mins but hey first squid so I'm happy When stretched out it was about 29 cm . It went back in the drink and swam off into the deep , My question is as soon as I pulled it out it went a really deep red! Why would if have changed to a dark red ?
  21. Yep happens a lot! And she claims she catches the same pinky several times in a row.. I'm now sneak out so I can get a chance at some fish
