  1. woke up a little late this morning, but hit the nepean at about 7:30. With all the gear loaded into the 3m tinny with the powerhouse 4.5 merc, I was off at a slow pace up into the gorge looking for fishy looking snags. Found a couple good looking ones but no fish present. Decided to drift back down the river along the banks casting at any and all points hoping for a hit on the hardbodies. Changed lures a couple of times to no avail. Starting to get the I found some really low overhanging trees so i threw one in under on my 5th attempt and was rewarded with my first bass ever. Tried around this snag for a while longer for zip. Moved on downstream a bit fired a cast into a fallen tree and was smashed as soon as it hit the surface. The take was huge with water flying everywhere, from the looks of the flash of colour i estimated around the 30cm mark. After a fight of 3 secs the fish was lost. Stayed at this snag throwing every possible harbody/sp i had to try and entice another attempt but nothing. time was getting away on me was supposed to be home early. So i motored back towards the ramp where i noticed a large rock overhang on the western side of the river. A couple of casts under and rewarded with my second bass. As you can see from the pics the fish were huge FOTM contenders?
  2. seen that 1 before but damn thats fast. was timed over a distance and worked out average speed of 120mph. the brushless motor would set you back a few $000
  3. just a thought this could be aimed at all those inexperienced fisho's that hire boats and dont give a 2nd thought about safety. Problem with mail outs is people open letters see the junk inside and toss it straight in the bin without giving it a second thought. This is no different to the obnoxious drivers on our roads that have no regards to their own or others safety or the road rules. my 2c
  4. extended idling in older 2 strokes is just asking for the plugs to foul up. always carry spare(new) plugs so u can replace them whilst on the water if something like this ever happens again. 2 strokes and plugs go hand in hand

    Tinnie Wiring

all DC items require an earth to complete the circuit otherwise there is no flow of electrons. As for the wiring i would run a large capacity fuse at the battery just in case a short happens to occur before the +ve bus

    Hail Storm

driving down richmond rd this afternoon, was amazed to see how many rooves(sp?) had tarps on them or nice clean new tiles in places. Just a thought too, alot of the houses that got hit are old houses that may possibly have fibro sheets on garages/sheds. Wouldnt like to try to do anything to this stuff in case of asbestos.

I think the import tax they are referring to is the 10 % GST which is payable on items over $1000, it used to be 500 but i think all the hassals to get the gst out of people made them raise it to the $1000 mark.
  8. could try Clifton Gardens or Balmoral wharves. If not after a feed(catch and release) Try Hen and Chicken Bay or Iron Cove (these 2 produce on SP's) can normally score a few flatties and maybe a few bream if theyre around. Do a search for landbased and see what u come up with

  22. these fish were taken from approx 500m south of the M4 bridge and heading upstream. Once through the narrows there is a creek that runs into the river on the right side. Been camping just up in there before and seen some fish rising but never had a rod
  23. depends on whether you want to fish above or below the weir. Above the weir you could park at the rowing club and lug the yak down to their launch area, drive to the emu plains side(river rd i think it is) and carry the yak down through the grassy area next to the rail bridge, or paddle the k and a bit down from the tench reserve ramp. If wanting to fish below the weir try devlins lane and paddle back upstrem towards the weir
  24. congrats to the winners of the prizes, the mods/volunteers for putting the whole thing on and breamhunter for the ride in your boat. Was quiet for us with no real big fish. On a brighter note managed to catch 2 bream on sp's being my first lure caught bream . One was on a 2" watermelon grub. The other was on a 3" minnow in Biloti blue. Cant wait for the next social and my next bream on sp's
