  1. Hey Craig have u ever tried replacing a small quantity of the beer with vodka?? The alcohol burns off super quick when it hits the hot oil and makes for a lighter and even crispier batter. Use about 1 part vodka to 4 parts beer
  2. Mate they are defiantly there. Caught 5 rats In 2 sessions this week. All 63cm. This was off the rocks, all on sunrise, spinning gars, poppers and stick baits. Had follows from multiple kings nearly every retrieve. Try targeting the edges with a medium slow retrieve or down rig some gars. I would even send out a gar on a lightly weighted skip bait rig ( try to get the bait running just under the surface ) maybe throw poppers and stick baits while doing this. I assume u in a boat. Good luck
  3. That's awesome fishing mate. So many "fish of a lifetime" ticks there. I Also just returned from FNQ fishing out of cairns. Great times. Congrats
  4. Good to hear u got into some surface action, just can't beat it!
  5. Nice King mate well done. Down rigging??
  6. Lots of kings in middle harbour mate. I launch from parriwi park near the spit bridge. Load up with yakkas at 'the fridge' off chinamans beach. Try down rigging them or slow trolling deep around the moorings Good luck
  7. Nice bag. Had a flick from the yak there this morning and picked up heaps of flatties
  8. Nice work mate. We got into a huge school just inside the heads on sat. Chased for nearly 2 hours. Hooked into a good few but only after we switched to small grubs on heavy jig heads with a fast retrieve.
  9. Can't knock the coconut rigs mate. I have seen fellas bag out on big Bonnies at juliannes in 30 mins using them, while everyone else getting zip
  10. always looking for others to come for a sesssion. i usually go fridays if u ever free and keen
  11. went for a paddle out through the heads on friday morning, launched at camp cove at 5 am. crossed through the gap ( which was a bit hairy with a 1.5 m swell) and soon arrived at my spot. not long after the sounder lights up with some good marks and down goes a lightly weighted squid strip. i start throwing plastics and see my rod with squid start to run but nothing eventuates. have a flick with a lighter rod and on the drop im on. my 2500 sienna is buzzing like mad and 10lb braid ripping off quickly. a great fight later and a nice little king is in the yak. my first for the summer. picked up another around the same size soon after and then the school moved off. headed back in for a quick flick at sow and pigs fir zero.
  12. planning to launch at camp cove and head out to the reef off the gap on fri morning uf anyone keen to join. weather looks great and the chance of an early king!! launch at 5 am and back by 10am ish!

  14. met my buddy at first light this morning at camp cove. took the yaks out to sow and pigs and the bite was hot. fishing the top of the run out we both hooked into some good trevs going from 20 to 35. the trevs went off the bite but soon after we hooked some good bream up to 37. paddled to middle head and scored some yakkas that went out to no takers. back on the south side lady jAne beach offered nothing. a nice bag each to finish the day
  15. nice one buddy good to see that ledge paid off for you. there are definatley alot of sambos around at the moment!!
  16. my mistake guys its 200g corn flour 200g self raising flour
  17. always flour fish lightly before batter. oil temp 190 in home fryer/ pot as temp drops quick
  18. flathead is best for battered fish, but fat whiting good too
  19. no worries fragmiester, heres one u will love... for best fried fish batter use 200g plain flour 200g self raising, a teaspoon baking powder and1 tsp honey. mix with beer til nearly the right consistency and a good splash cheap vodka. dont mix too perfect as small flour lumps are good. batter should lightly coat finger when dipped. vodka expands rapidly when heated and makes super light crunchy batter!!! enjoy
  20. burley was pureed blue fin tuna, ocean trout, snapper, bass grouper, cuttlefish, rye bread and water!!! I am a chef at a fancy seafood restaurant so i have endless supply of fresh fish scrap for burley. and by the way buddy fresh fish does not smell, a burley scoop keeps it off ya and a cold shower at the beach afterwards is so invigorating!!!!
  21. hi raiders, hit the stones just before 6 this morning for my mid week pre work session. swell was low and wind less than forecast. after a burley up and a few pickers, we got some good hits and the first sambo came in. i landed an average size fish that did not fight much until he saw the rocks . 15 min later my mate is on and lands a slightly bigger model. in the next 30 mins we lost a fish each to the rocks at our feet then it goes quiet. a quick move round the corner and a lower ledge produces a good sambo for my mate. another one lost to the rocks for me and then pull the hooks on solid takes of my last 2 baits( pillies). turned out good for a 2 hour session, good to see tge weather warming up!!
