If the boat is rated to 15hp then that is the Maximum you can bolt on.
there is a massive difference between a 8hp and 15hp, it will go a lot better with 2 ppl and ok with 3.
with such a small tinnie over powering will be a mistake and one the Waterways will pick up straight away.
i noticed the difference going from a 6hp to a 9.9hp and then another good step up to 15hp on a 3.7m tinnie.

I have used mine a lot for Squid and flicking micro jigs, goes well.
i pretty much bought it for micro but have tried bait, metals, SP and squid jigs.
i have the Red one

I have a the same burley pot as Fab, without the inner piece.
my tips:
dont fill the container full of chook pellet mix as it swells when wet and you don't get much spread as it compacts.
i have a couple of steel barrels in the bottom to weight it down.
every now and then I give the line a sharp pull and I can see the burley spread.
it can be messy if you don't put it in a bucket, when moving.
My mix is chook pellets, white bread, tuna oil, old pilchards mashed up.
i have thought of tying a 20lb line and baited hook to it just to see.

The humping your leg reminds me of guys i fish with, When one bagged a PB Snapper (6.1kg) he and a few others were squealing quite high pitch and he was doing the humping dance moves,
my wife saw the video and said i thought there was no girls allowed on the trip.
Nice work on the fishing trip.

I caught and released a legal sized jew Early 2016 just past the Gladesville Bridge (Eastern Side), it took the mullet strip and run, its the only Jew i have ever caught and haven't caught one since.
The young ones on here seem to have more luck in their Kayaks, they tag more in a day than i catch in a year.

Hi Kang
First tip download the fish Smart app to your phone as Jervis Bay has a few no fish zones and habitat zones.
2. Take a squid Jig or two as there is sone great places with weed beds and your should get enough for a feed and fresh bait.
if land based I have had good luck with fresh squid / WA Pilchards or Chicken thigh as bait and best time I used a float and kept my bait of the bottom, bait was about 2mtrs down.
once that was set I used another rod and did the soft plastics (Learning) thing.
if you don't get anything at jervis bay or the weather is crap (windy) try a few spots in St Georges Basin for Flatheads / Bream and Tailor.
good luck

Fished last night after the rain, one of the guys caught a fish which we called as a small Jew when it came to the surface, once landed we were surprised it was a massive whiting.
nice and fat, just shy of 43cm
plenty of squid around

Mine came with my boat, but it's just 3mm alloy C Channel 80mm wide.
yep I used the Boncrete to seal the edges and I also sealed the top just in case. Was still going strong 2yrs later.
-
As Fab's photo above that's how my Tinnie was fitted out with the Alloy supports Tek screwed into the ribs. The floor was standard marine ply with bondcrete sealed edges and marine carpet.
Was removable for cleaning and I had LED Strip lighting under the seats shining down to give just enough light to see round your feet.
no rub through issues and supported my 115kg frame with bowing.
If you have the deep Hull I would as add door to store items out of the way.
Seal the ply and add carpet and away you go.

Do small 2-strokes have a thermostat??
i.e. 15hp and under?
Yes they do, most forgotten part when doing a home service, out of sight out of mind.
easy to check, remove housing and put the thermostat into a pot of boiling water if the thermostat opens and the closes when put in cold water it's all good.
then clean the housing and replace gasket or use a sealant.
not using a thermostat cause a motor to run cold which means it could be running rich as choke doesn't click off and not getting the correct temp causing wear and tear.

Then when I put my foot on the brake, the headlights come on in my car! I can't figure out what to do. Any advice?
This makes me think it's a vehicle issue

Can you try the trailer on a different car to see if it's the trailer or your cars wiring issues.
-
Plus factor in the time and fuel cost of driving to QLD and back.
i would aim to buy the biggest and newest boat for your $$$

As above and when the developers moved into Rhodes the run of was monitored and further studies were conducted and that's when the rules about West of Gladesvillle Bridge was changed to West of the Harbour Bridge.
Levels in bays close to the Harbour bridge are 168 or similar times higher than the safe level.
Homebush bay is even higher

I had the same issue on my old boat, started with a 6hp which was ok with one person but anymore and it was too slow, so i upgrade to a 15hp and it made a big difference, then since it was faster i took more people, so the boat became to small, So i upgraded the boat in length and a 25hp and that was a lot better again.
it never stops apparently, its a bit of a sickness

Now read on FB that it will be replace with two slightly smaller version.

Murray's beach ramp is the pick, easy to launch and pick up friends across from the ramp and quick across the bay, if it gets rough the ramp is protected by the rock wall.

Just read that the super trawler geelong star has now left Australian Waters and is no longer flying a Aussie flag so cannot legally fish our waters.
Hooefully it doesn't come back or worse they come back with a bigger trawler.
-
Unlike the other outboard companies the Tohatsu is not a de-rated 15hp, so at best you can change props for more top end.
I would sell and upgrade to the newest motor you can afford or are will to spend or keep the 9.9hp until she dies and enjoy.

Nice work and story, down south is a beautiful spot.
We were down there two weeks ago besides squid there was buggar all around except 2 m swell and lots of wind.
-
Shoalbay is a good spot, especially out side school holidays and mid week, less crowds and a great spot.
Something on the water bay side with a private ramp and wharf.
Or South Coast St Georges Basin would do.
New motor . Repowering

Do you know anyone with a 15hp you can borrow for a run.
