  1. That was a great day out! Looks like a good yak team forming there!
  2. Enjoy guys. I have plans Fri night so won't be planning to catch the sunrise. Plus a bit too far for me. Send pics though!
  3. Thanks samjames95. Always good to find out how I should be doing things ?
  4. Nice one. What technique do you use after casting the lure out?
  5. Dad got me into fishing well before I turned 10. Don't remember fishing with him at all after 10. It's like he got me hooked and left me alone as I had adequate and satisfactory entertainment!
  6. It was nice meeting you Krause. A good morning out even if the wind wasn't playing nicely at little manly. For those interested, we ended up moving to clontarf instead. A few schools of large fish breaking the surface but nothing that could be tempted.
  7. Yep yep... Yaks will be loaded the night before. Will you troll only? What style lure please? Or will you try and catch squid/yakkas and live bait at all? Looking to work out what gear to pack.
  8. Hang on... Do you work with rich? If so yes. We have we fished together before that trip ?. Sorry... Was out with a few friends... So it has only just clicked. What yak did you get?
  9. Wow so 0530 is early. I don't know if I can load the yaks on top of a rav 4 in the dark withoufh annoying the neighbours. Is the start time negotiable or can I find out what you yak looks like and I can come out and find you. :). Will pm you my.mobile. little manly for me.
  10. Hey Brad! Probably yes!!! I am the Asian chick who was there for the first time and got a card from Alex. Nice to meet you! Alex is pretty cool.and it looked like you had a proper lesson
  11. That would be great Mark. Thank you for the kind offer. I have launched from clontarf a few times- it is a lovely beach.
  12. Hi. I was trying to work out if I should take a day off or work. This would be an excellent reason to take the day off! Preference for little manly ?. I am going to be interested in watching and learning. Cheers Angela
  13. Hi there. I am interested in joining but it depends on location. Am not too keen on driving too far with the yaks on the roof. Keen to watch and learn as don't have a good technique as yet. Can always join another time if you guys go to chipping Norton. I am located north of the harbour bridge. Cheers Angela
  14. I have used crampons that go over my shoes. Handy when there is a bit of a walk required to get to the fishing location as they can slip on and off easily. And aren't as heavy as carrying around a pair of wet neoprene boots plus the fish to take home.... You can get them in Hiking stores
  15. Wow! Incredibly productive sessions!
  16. Thanks all. And don't worry, I already have enough sps and jughead's to fill half a tackle shop!
  17. Went for a late afternoon fish with NO BAIT! Flicked the plastics around and kept walking up the beach. And YES, I GOT ME A BREAM!!!!! Followed by a grinner. Both went back in. But happy days for me, as I've not managed to catch one so far - only a few bumps! Maybe I'll stick to these sps.....
  18. You can buy these pigfish at your local fish monger. Not a cheap fish, so you should try it next time.
  19. They give a good fight. Are ok to eat if bled and looked after. And the chooks really like salmon sashimi... the blood line and any leftovers that I can't finish [emoji41]
  20. I will have to get back to plastics.... went shopping after sp day didn't i?!
  21. Having heard reports if murky waters in the estuaries I decided to head to the beach to try my luck. Arrived to find exposed rocks where previously there was only sand - as we know, last weekend caused a lot of damage. I dont know how the sand will ever return. Anyway, it was a productive session with 2 salmon landed, one lost, all on ganged pillies. The paternoster rig with beachworm didn't get touched. It was great to be out in the sun. Once the water starts clearing up, I will head back In to the estuaries and give the sps a go Cheers Angela
  22. Thank you to Donna and Stu for organising a great event. Thank also to the helpers who made sure we were watered and fed. And another big thank you to the tutors (thanks Pete). Enjoyed the day immensely
  23. This topic is perfect. I have worked out that I need an anchor for my yak. Now my experience with boats and anchors has been poor in so far as I have lost 2 sand anchors due to snags. And this has been even though the sounder didn't show any reefs or anything - must have dragged into it. So my first thought is not a sand anchor as trees fall all the time into estuaries... Keen to hear other views though
  24. Agree with fab1. 2 knives different purposes.
