    Upgrade time

I use to run a Hornet 435 with a 50 tiller on the back. One of the fishiest boats I have owned! The boat would run all day long on half a tank and the space that the tiller gives you, it's space for the third person if needed. If you only lure fish maybe you can get a way with the wheel but if you bait fish as well, go the tiller. I use to sneek out the front around bluefish in it chasing salmon on fly on nice days n stability was great stationary not like a v hull of this size. The size difference between my old one and a mate that had the 400 hornet, you could fit the 400 inside the gunwales of the 435. It looks alot bigger internally. On the go most of these size boats don't handle the harbour ferry washes well at speed. You do have to slow down for them in near anything. A punt is going to give you a harder ride compared to the V hull but more stability. It's then up to you and how you fish on whats going to suit the best. In boats size makes a massive difference.... Greg
  3. Cracking bass for the Nepean! Good fishing!
  4. Hi Raiders Only did a little bit of fishing over the weekend. One session up at trout for only 2 little tackers on Thursday, Saturday got the target species of a jew out of the Parra but was only a pup around 2kgs and a few blackfish late Monday arvo. Didn't get the camera out as they werent of photo standards...... Sunday night with that electrical storm that past through, it was a great opportunity to get the DSLR out and try take some lightning shots. It's a little harder than I thought but it is only my second go at it. Here's my favorite of the night.

    Mobile phones

Iphone 4s has been my favorite phone. Best camera out of em all I recon. Amazing the colour and sharpness it reproduces.
  6. Sunline make a nice float line in 6-10lb as well if your after lighter line. I have been using the 8lb for my blackfish fishing over the last 5 years and still going strong. Greg
  7. For a light stick ya can't go passed the Steez Chilidog. I have 2 of these and ones got a 3000 Branzino 20lb braid and the other with a 3000 Stella loaded with 11lb. I use these for vibing for jews and barra and 1/4-1/2oz jig heads snappering. Perfect jew n snapper stick for around Sydney. Personally I prefer a stick with even more grunt tho. Just never know when that fish of a life time grabs ya lure..... My next club up from the chilli is the Millerods beast buster control freaks and again loaded with a branzino but this time 30lb braid. This stick could catch near everything in Sydney I recon! Nice snapper to, got to love Port for it's snappering!
  8. Also try on a cast retrieve the front hole. I find the back hole better for up down fishing under the boat.
  9. Id go the gear Stewy put up then! At $800 for 3 outfits your set!
  10. Barra are cool but there's to many fish in the sea and so many that pull harder and eat surface more consistantly. I like fishing with Jas and I think I'll keep my barra experiences there on a more sociable level now that I have caught my 1m goal.(took me like 5 trips to get it and 2 99's.) n that's just with Jas! Bloody barra have cost me a fortune! At the moment I like fly, I use to do it but fell into the bream thing and dropped it. Now, back again the fly rods are back out. Relearning the cast and so on. Gt's are always going to be a fav and hard to turn down a trip chasing them. I want a monster one so bad.... My fishing at the moment is pretty diverse, pretty cool that many of the things help one another. My casting at the moment is very relaxed but still gets distance as I feel the rods load better and punching in the sweet spot after casting the fly again where the feel is so important. My goal is to get better at casting the fly and then when good enough, chase a tarpon..... I think I have been watching to many fly DVD's and man I gotta get me some of that action!
  11. GT's, sails, I think we are wanting a session with the long wands chasing permit and bones off the flats, Coral trout, golden trevs, monster dollies, blue marlin and all of them other line burners on the reefs. Night time will be bull sharks off the back jetty of our house we have booked..... Aw sugar now ya got me excited!

    Sunnies

Was looking at a few different sunnies for fishing. On the Oakley site I saw these..... $2k your kidding me!
  13. I was informed that the river below Monduran is hard to get to and not as many fish compared to the Boyne River. Jas doesnt even charter anymore because of the barra fishing is so poor. He thinks that if you want to go catch 80cm barra go NT and catch 100 a day as thats all thats left! The metre plus ones are so far in between it's just not a viable option. It'll be criminal to take peoples money when it's that hard..... Peter Faust dam is an option and is ment to be still fishing very well..... Greg

    WTF is this?

I have seen heaps of small ones on the Gold coast, that one was a big one and ate a 2" Hawg. I have also seen small ones in Cowan and out the back of mums in the Parra. They seem to like the clear deep waters and swim the edge in 2's or 3's. The one pictured had fins about 2 feet long
  15. I do try my best! NEXT trip planned is WA part II at the end of May, Exxy is about to be RAIDED by a few of us! Some are a little bit excited....... Me, I dont like thinking about it or talking about it. Been on to many trips to be stuffed by weather, now I just take em as they come! The barra know where to brick you, especially when your fishing bridge pylons! We had 2 massive bust offs didnt even get a wind!

      bassboy888

      jew in the yak!

  18. http://www.catlinsea...com/seaview.htm Something to waste your friday away.....
  19. Yeah that was the Boyne, the others were the Colliope and some little water way that runs under the HWY, pretty cool riding the rapids in a Skeeter with leccy power only I tell ya that sticker biz is way harder than it looks! I tried to put a little bit of edging on, Rich puts 4 pieces on in my one and he had to redo my bit cause I had a bubble! The water temps were dropping as the dams are at 100% so any rain went over the wall.... Even during our stay it dropped by 3 degrees. Was only a balmy 27 lol
  20. Ross reels are nice, so over priced here tho! like double...... I had a ross 6-7 for a while. Richards put it to use now. Great value for sure. I'm a bit of a sucker with the Abels, always wanted one and now I can afford them, why not.... I have a 9,7,5 and about to receive a 3wt and all in custom paint. Rods I'm similar, hard to move away from a brand when you have never had problems with in the past. Only other I have owned before are the Loomis's which are really on par with Sage imo. The TXFL was choosen as I wanted something a little slower than the XI2 n3's I have, just for a more suttle presentation. Greg
  21. The NEXT one that's coming is the Sage TXLF 3wt with custom Abel in flat black....
  22. 3 new joe yee's arrived today! 16" trolling lures are hard to use without a boat tho!

      GregL

Supo's I could chuck em on a popping rod and see how far I can cast the sucker!

  23. Buy a Deyoung series reel and a XI3 rod in this country will get you near that. Put line on it and you'd be there.
  24. I think your asking a little to much for a reel that had snapper in mind..... Locked drags, winding against drag is just asking for gear failure. That's the only way your going to snap a handle off is by winding against a locked up drag....
  25. Maybe your braid is to heavy. 10kg =30lb braid on a 3-6kg rod. Id run 10lb 3kg braid as braid usually breaks alot higher than stated ratings.
