MIck the new 35ST (step Hull) is at the top so far. The 350's would be nuts but the extra weight will have the boat riding as s down which is not good for skimming wave to wave. The 300's weigh 260kg and the 350's are 370kg. The extra HP will only add min top end speed which I think will rarely be seen... After seeing one in the flesh the other day, it pretty much made up my mind on what boat to get. Very impressive to say the least!

Just had a drool on Contenders website. 900hp pushing 11500 lbs will fly. A 10' beam will be super comfy. It'll be one painful waiting for it to be delivered.

  2. I'll have a stab. Q1 tieing braid to mono/fluro leader. In the past I use to use a double uni knot but found over time the knot being smashed threw the guides all the time, the knot would suffer from fatigue and let go a couple of hundred casts in..... I now use a FG knot, harder to tie but a shed load stronger and as there is no knot in the leader side, the knot is extreamly thin. Even though I use a FG I don't put the knot in the guides when I cast. I fish a 1.3m leader and can cast this off an 8ft rod no problems. I have no fear of pushing my gear to the limits any time as I know there wont be knot fatigue. I use a FG which is a single strand to leader, no need for doubles. A good Albright will hold but dont cast it through the guides and it will last. A loop knot is the go with all lure connections. I fish 20-30lb braid, 16-30lb leaders. Lighter the better for bites, I usually change through the day depending on depth and fish size. 20lb is the usual starting point. North I tend to go a little heavier and down south and it's more gravel beds I'll even go as low as 10lb when things are tough! Greg
  3. Pushing 30 years ago, a king on a trolled Nat Nat off the North East corner of Montague Island with a 60lb hand line!
  4. Could have opened with something more tasty though!!!
  5. Jews also hunt on the surface guys.... I have seen gars being chased by jews in 8m of water in quiet bays after big rains back of Lane Cove, have even landed one on a small plastic during a bream comp casting at the tail walking gars. Appox 10kgs Have heard them slurping bait off the top like barra in water deeper than 10m on steep rocky banks, then there are the bridge ones at night under lights.... Gars hands down on the edge of sandflat/weed beds.
  6. If it's for the boat in your avatar I'd go a combo unit only for dash space. Buy as big as budget allows as it helps when using multi screens just so the picture is of a workable size. Greg
  7. The pressure gun and a wet dry vac to pull the water back out so it doesnt smell later. The vacs you can get from hardware stores for under $100. Great for the shed to do the cars and boats n no fear of buggering up the house vac!
  8. Thanks to the girls having the hens party at Wobby on the weekend. You girls sure made our day and made up for the lack of jews but no one really cared about the fishing once the b o o b i e s came out!

  9. Damo I could have gone that way(your fuel consumption) but that would be like a kick in the nuts, seeing I have never met you I thought I had better not LOL Big days in mine are 350lt but that'll include 2hrs at 35-40kns! Greg
  10. The bream should take surface lures now. Those big shallow bays full of weed beds kick ass for bream!
  11. That's only $28/hr, not to bad I think for a big day wide! Great work on the dolly. Greg
  12. Jews are out on the Parra, went looking for our own horses on Tuesday, 6 to the boat largest went 90cm

      Hi greg

Would it worth having a throw from the shore say fishing under the span of the gladesville bridge casting out wide.

I'd say gladesville hospital/banjo's would be a better option with lures. baits would just get snagged because of the reefy bottom and current. havent tried myself but if I was going to....

  13. Doubles on my 10"+ and singles on the small 8">
  14. Coool vid dude. Looked like the JM outfit wasnt even pushed through it's paces on that nice fish. What one was it? Still haven't had mine bent through the handles yet..... Greg
  15. As Stewy Said and the deck wash hose is fun oh I mean effective!
  16. The best way to empty your tank of the crap at bottom is a wet and dry vac. If your boat has carpet the vac is also good for removing water before putting boat away. Good for getting the water at the bottom of the boat to.... Greg
  17. Korea nice but Australia soooo much better! Walked off plane and was fishing off Northern beaches 3hrs later! God I love this country, yes was a little home sick by the end of it...

I have to agree with you Greg, My wife is Korean so I am there every couple of years Its nice for 2 weeks but I keep thinking of Sydney and get homesick very quickly, I am heading there for Christmas and will hopefully go skiing all going well!!!!

  18. G'day guys Coming to that time of year when the big stuff gets pulled out ready for some wide runs. This year I'm intending to run some larger lures. Before we use to run just 15;s and 24's so our spread only went to 12" but this season I will run 2x 80's so we can tow some larger lures. Regarding lure positions, before I use to run the 24's off the riggers and run 1x joe yee 12" and a Marlin Magic 12 off the other. Slide the 15's close in with 10" lures. The spred has work well in the past and have had days where every lure in the spread has been eaten by a marlin. Was on the "can" the other day reading tips on lure spreads, there they say to run the big ones in close and smaller further back and on the riggers.....Oppisite to what I do. So what's your call on this? Big in close or out back? Greg
  19. I have Moi moi yellow on my 15's and orange on the 24's but this season I'm running 2x 37's so I can run some big lures, I'm running Varivas special trolling line 80lb in green. I run different colours to help with line control, it makes it easy to see if they cross or tangle. Greg
  20. Thanks Jez I love my kitchen, first one I have done to the way I want and I just love cooking in it. Here are some other pics of it to get the reel look of it. Any tips on how to get the marks off the marble from bloody Corona bottles with the lime juice acid? Greg
  21. It really depends on what you want to catch or do.... If you fish here it's less time travelling more time fishing. I have done 2 different true live a boards here, Seafaris and Nomad and both on multiple times, Nomad is sort of the pinnical in this country for fishing and service but is one of the most expensive. My last trip with them, leave Sydney at 7am, by 4pm on the first day we had caught 24 GT's to 35kgs and a 350lb black marlin out of one of the tenders..... Then there are the base camp places..... Best thing with on a boat, it's basicly 24/7 fishing..... Greg
  22. Of late I have only been chasing 2 species.... Jews. Keitech swing impact fat, 4.8" in sexy shad with a 5/8th or 1oz 5/0 TT jig head (only just starting to come into this country and importer currenty has no stock) Banjo oh I mean Jackall Bros Transam 95 in any colour with Gamagatsu size 4 trebbles and owner size 4 split rings fitted, the standard hooks and rings will end in tears on that fish of a life time! (was hard to get but now here in numbers) Snapper Berkley Gulp! 4"Pogy in orange fire tiger on a 5/0 TT jighead ranging from 1/4 to 1/2oz in less than 25m.(don't make any more, I got the last 800 packs in the country ) Berkley Gulp! 4" jigging grub in smoke on a 5/0 tt jighead ranging from 1\2- 1oz for anthing deeper than 25m (current model) Oh and Trout Squidgie wriggler in blood worm on a 1/40th hidden weight. Happy shopping! Greg
  23. Awesome area Heaps of options with a boat. Good squid out on the weed patches straight out the front, kings just over the other side of the mouth and plenty of awesome snapper grounds just out the front. Then there is the bream and flatties through out the bay, you'll have a great time! Good luck with the weather, I hope it's good for you! Greg
  24. It was funny on the day we went for jews I just knew I wasn't in the zone to get one. For a few days prior I had been given grief with a sore neck and back, I recon from playing golf earlier in the week on a charity day. Bloody golf.... Still got a longest drive and a closest to the pin, pretty good for the first hit in over 18 months:yahoo: Pain killers out on the water just gets ya super lazy, thank god the hairy's were there to keep me occupied! The flattie, didn't measure it but I'd call mid to high 80's. Biggest one Iv'e seen in ages! The Gars when I eat them I usually butterfly fillet them, dust them in seasoned flour and shallow pan fry. This way there is only the tail to worry about and no other bones as the little lateral line bones fry to nothing. My sub for fish fingers Another way after I butterfly them and slice out the lateral bone, I will stack them in a foil pocket, placing a couple of super thin slices of ginger and shallotts between the fillets, a few more slices on top, a dash of soy and 2 drops of seasame oil, a twist of cracked black pepper, seal the foil and into the oven at 200 for 12mins with 6 gars per pack. Flip it out onto some steamed rice and a few steamed veg, Dinner for one with only the rice cooker, one plate and one fork to wash up gotta think this way being single, quick, easy, just like the way I like my women hahaha
