  1. Thanks guys and Stew for putting the pix up... Chris we scored 20 fish to the bank and it had to be close to triple that in bites! The gun lure was the good old 3" Bass Minnow. I used 3 colours and all got bit so I don't think that makes a difference. When the fishing is good they will eat it on the drop or ripping it back. When the fishing is slower, slow ya speed down..... Greg
  2. What a funny day! With good fishing, great company and a shed load of banter it couldnt have been much better! Stewy and I met out at Richards house at 4am for the drive up to Thommo's. With the drive and walk of the eastern shore line out of the way it was very noticable that the dam had dropped by a good 2m since our last venture up there. Even during our days fishing you could see that it was still dropping. The fishing was good with some nice fish straight up, toughed it out through the midday slow bit then powered on into the evening. We all dropped fish, pulled hooks, missed hook ups n lost crackers. One fish that will haunt me was a brown that looked like a legal king as it rolled around at my feet before it bit through my 5lb leader. On it's first jump I almost crapped my pants, if it wasn't for the fact that I had just released a half pound brown up the bank 10 min earlier it could have been a different story! (spots and all from to much passionfruit the night before) How's this for cool sh1t, 13hrs of fishing to be all tied up at 6 all with 10 mins to go. Each have hook up, fight a bit and all pull hooks! WTF I cast get bit and miss, I wind in and these two get a double hook up to finish off a cracking day on the trouts! Ya don't mind missing out in glory with wins like that! Enjoy it fellers, till NEXT trout adventure! Here is a little video of Stewy on a rainbow..... Here are some pictures of the day Greg

  5. Well done on the fly! So the waters still dropping? Haven't been up for the last couple of weeks, must be the longest stint of not going up since I started chasing them since May last year. That fog through the mountains is freaky , last trip was scary as sh1t! Was just as bad coming home at 930pm to! I didn't think it fogged up in summer! Greg
  6. Hey Raiders Out last week fishing for jews, we sounded out a patch of em and jigged 2 fish out in almost a double hook up. The school was huge, driving some 40 odd meters before I had even thrown the jig over from when they first came on the screen, we were still over them when we hooked up but didnt check on release of the caught ones. By the time we got sorted again, moved back on the leccy, we couldnt find the school at all. There was a tailor school chomping away and that's what led us there in the first place but even under them nothing. Thinking back. previously fishing in the Parra we have kept a couple of fish, they dont seem to go off the bite but when you release one we usually don't get another in that spot for another half hour or so. So what are your thoughts? Greg

  13. I did a bit of it last year every time we went snappering. I found they work better in water deeper than 25m. Caught bugger all on them in anything less. On Next we had rod holders that sat rods horizontally to the water off the t top. Using jigs in the 60-70gm range in 30m on a medium drift speed of .8-1kn the jig would hold near bottom. Maybe every 5 mins let out 10m to ge it there again. The rod being horizontal to the water loaded nicely and worked the lure in a nice up down flutter on the boat rock. Another thing re the jigs, tungsten weighted small heads worked better than fat ones on reds for us. We even had a 50/50 record against plastics for the season.
  14. Mate the whitting love the sure catch cheap ones in the pack. Something like 3for $10. Amazingly the fluro ones work a treat, specially the yellow. Use a short leader of around 10lb, tie without loop knot to lure to make it swim even straighter. Throw and wind continually shaking the rod tip to make the lure do little pops as it skitters along. Half way back stop it still for 3 or 4 sec then continue to rod tip wiggle and wind. Whitting usually smak it on the move, the bream usually hit on the mid way pause. If you want to spend some bux, the Megabass dog x jr is a cracker walk the dog lure for bream and whitting to, but be prepared for the price! I like the sugar pens as well, great prawn imitation, awesome on the bream but can do the best prawn flick and run look across the top, so life like!

    Dream Boat

Wow 4 years on and my tastes have only slightly changed! Still dreaming but that's what the post is about! LOL Being boatless atm one of these babies "will do" http://www.baylissbo.../b14-shark-byte
  16. Awesome! Great pix and nice looking bit of land there! Nice adventure boys! Greg
  17. Little poppers would be the go atm. Sit on top, no weed. Specially up the end where you were. The bream and whitting in there love a surface lure .
  18. I'd say it's the rig dragging along the bottom and the bait is twisting up you line. Something to try, next time if rigged your way. on the cast as soon as it hits the water, wind in the slack line, dont let any more out. this should keep the main line tight and no chance of bait twisting around the main line on the sink. Think your bait will be helicoptering as its dragged down by the weight of the sinker. You can try either a paternoster rig with the sinker on the bottom and a dropper loop for hook n bait. As the rig drags along the bottom the bait will be just above it or use a star sinker to anchor the rig in one position. keep the dropper short so it cant spin to much. With your baits, keep them straight, long and thin. If using baits like pillies, trim the tails, they spin baits sitting in current. Prawns, use a longer shank hook so the prawn is skewered straight. squid strips long and thin and only put the hook though the bait once near the tip of one end so it or they dangle. A bit of food for thought and hope it works for you.
  19. Guys get your locals to order them. Brad, ASWB lures western australia. If they need more info, he has a FB account. I got mine threw the charter dude. Robbo the squid one is a newy, I got him as a bonus for my order
  20. Mate I usually have one chucked back out when I chase gars, to many times when I have burleyed them up something big comes in and smashes them. I run a pair of 3/0's and they live for an hour or so. Greg
  21. What rig are you using? Are you fishing out of a boat or shore? Are you casting the rig? What bait are you using? What depth are you fishing? If your dropping the rig, the bait is spinning up the line on the drop. A more stream iline bait could help. Make sure your tag ends at the knots are very short as the tags can tangle the line and hamper the swivel, specially fluro as its so stiff. Maybe a different rig might be the ansawer...
