  1. Don't you hate it when your out on the water having a plesant fish with a buddy and the tummy starts rumbling? It has started to become a tradition with my usual fishing partner, we start fishing and with in half hour out there the first call of "gee I'm starting to feel hungry". This usually continues for another 2-3hours, we start fantasizing on different foods till our mouths start salavating. Then we over to the fish markets our butts off and then defrost in the 8kn zone heading upto the markets. Here is Pat making a pig of him self, well with a little help! There was lots of peeling and shell cracking going on. We had 2 different prawns that day, our normal choice of Yamba's and then some nice salty flavored Kings. We couldnt decide which we liked best so the Double Bunger was invented. Oh what a flavour! Salty but sweet, the way prawns are ment to be....... Then there was the lobsters, fish c o c k tails and blue swimmers.......... How can you go else where to fish!!!! Greg
  2. 2000 were made for the world market and Australia got 400. No more are to be made either. Technology is from Hypers, saltigas, exists and the Morethan Brazanio spool to finish it. A little bit heavier than the 3000 Exist's but it does feel stronger. Spray it down after use and it will be fine. My Exsts are all over 12 months now and no real problems, just their normal half yearly services. Still havent got to use mine yet but with all the reports of jews it might be time to pull it out and try christen it Greg
  3. Thats a big knot Iceman. I use the uni knot to but only use 5 turns in the leader and then 7 in the braid to try even the knots up in size. But my line is 4lb and leader is 4 as well. I'm with swordie, albright is now out! to many times it's slipped. Greg
  4. Plastics at night work. Just fish them super slow. I like Gulps at night because of the scent. I mainly target bream and the craws or worms on a hidden weight system jig head is deadly over the flats. Of late we have been using lipless crank baits at night and these have out fished plastics. The rattle is the key. If they cant see it they will surely hear it. They cast further so you can cover a lot more water to. Cheers Greg
  5. Here is the tournement breamin gear. Yes we go threw all of them by the end of the day! I like my outfits to be very similar so when I pick up a different outfit it still feels the same. It keeps casting acuracy easier. Main difference is lengths of rods and power ratings. All reels are the same Diawa models as I personally find these the best for the job at hand.
  6. Hi Mitch I have changed jobs now, I'm no longer a toaster buyer My card now says I'm a compliance manager, what ever that means! Pmak That's a good question. At first call I called it as a small jew but when it didnt wipe me out on the marina I called it as a BIG treva. Soon as it started circling after the first run I just knew it was a treva but that didn't stop me hopeing it was going to be a kickass bream tho! This one would have been treva number 10 at least from that 1 single spot. (second arm from the north eastern corner of the marina at the end) Give it a go next time you pass it. Just make sure your lure hits the bottom and use a sharp lift drop retrieve with plenty of pause. Greg
  7. Nice detective work guys. The background is Abbortsford and yep I got the trev at Cabarita Marina. I don't mind telling you guys where I catch my fish but you are going to have to guess first If I get any in 1 of my tournement areas I will just take th pic on an angle that will delete the background. Well it will give you guys something to do when you look at my posts, pick Greg's spots Yeah Lee that damn cold wind just cuts threw near anything. I wore my wet weather gear most of the day so it was bearable. I saw you to as we were leaving my lunch time area. It was to damn cold to peel prawns and crack crabs. I had to settle with the Kbab from Birkenhead instead. It's nice acually not having a wrapped boat. I'm not really the type of person that likes the attention a wrapped boat gets. This year I'm not fishing as a sponsored team. Boats now paid for so I don't need to take on a sponsor to cover some costs. Plus I like to use what ever I want to use without pissing companies off. Guys if you have any questions on breming I'm happy to help as much as my knowledge extends. Very happy to help any people at want to start or try it. Just pop me a PM and I'll do my best. Cheers Greg
  8. Ta guys, it sure gave a good battle on 4lb line and leader! Fishing with good gear surely helps giving you the confidence in long drawn out battles on light line. Sharky the jig was a tinny baby vib fished in 27ft of water. Thanks Davy. I have some more footage at home, have to pull my finger out and cut it into a movie. Been putting a Cape York one together ATM from all my trips put together. I'll post a link up when I'm done. Cheers G

    Carpeting The Boat

There is stuff called front runner that shops use to cover shelves and car audio dudes use to cover sub boxes and stuff. Pretty cheap and comes in grey or black. Try a car audio installer if you only need a few metres. Greg
  10. Cold, very cold and shivering. That's how I felt on Sunday morning. NO big boys out to play today and only pulled the camera out once. Here is a pick of a treva I jigged up bouncing a lure off the bottom next to a marina wall. Cheers Greg
  11. Hi Scienceman I havent fished Yeppon but have fished further north. Just look for the bait! Plenty of longtails and mackeral tunas up there. this is a great morning option before the wind picks up. afternoons are great for fishing the beaches. Again just look for the bait. Otherwise look for rocks. Any rocks big or small, fish will be around them. Take poppers with you!! Tunas queenies and trevas love em. Metals, take heaps and if you can put on 10cm of single strand wire on them to save lures. Near everything else eats metal if it wont eat the poppers. There are plenty of options, baits plastics and near everything else, fish eat them all up there. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE THE CAMERA! Greg
  12. Nice one Scott!! Bloody awesome arent they!! I love mine but I still havent used it yet........ So what line are you going on yours? I went 10lb Diawa braid. Orange looks the goods against the black of the reel and I have a 20lb roll ready for when I head north in November. Greg
  13. IFS If you really like the paddle tail style try the lunker city ones in the 4-6". These will work with big heads to a couple of ounces. I have fished them in 80m and hit the bottom with a 4kn southerly current. Next would be to go more stream line plastics like flukes and minnows on the same big jig heads. next. Fish a normal snapper patternosta rig but put on a couple of sluggos that have been covered in Megastrike!! This has worked for me and more than a few times it's out fished baits. Greg
  14. Oh I forgot about the crabs! mmmm just thinking about that lunch, I'm hungry again!!! After a big lunch like that nothing beats a Cohiba number 2 to wash it all down hehehehe. Oh and welcome to Fishraider dude!!! Cheers G
  15. Greg there were 2 of us on the Vibes and only 1 on the Gulps but considering the Vibes still definately out fished the Gulps. Personally I went the vibes cause of the dirty water. The rattle was the key Fattieman yep they sure went hard but the funny thing is last week they just swam to the net! Strange??? Cheers Greg
  16. Thanks guys for your kind comments. It was a pretty good day once that tide was running. Pat and I fished vibes most of the day with the dirty water and Mark persisted with the Gulp shrimps in lime tiger. In the morining we fished our usual areas for the dudes that know and then black wattle areas and back towards putney in the arvo. Further towards the heads, the clearer the water was, pretty amazing how quick it clears considering the amount of rain we have had. Breaming is exellent in the harbor at the moment with 2 weeks in a row of good good fish, so get out there guys and dont miss the fun! Here is one more pic. 3x 40+cm bream in a row. Total bag was estimated 5+kgs Cheers Greg
  17. G'day raiders. My first fishing report post! Yipee Short and sweet. Good company today with usual fishing partner Pat and first time on the Skeeter Mark, we fished the harbor, ate some fish, prawns and lobsters from the markets , caught some great fish, what more could you ask for We all got a stonker today which is always nice to do on a fun social day. Here is a couple of pics we took. Pat's Mark's Mine 2 of the biggest
  18. hehehe you blokes are funny! Im off to Cape York again in November and then due east out to othe northern parts of the barrier reef on a mother ship operation. This will be the 5th trip with this group but only the second time out on the reef. Usually it's down the western side of Cape York into the Gulf area fishing the rivers and a few Km's off shore. Last reef trip I lost some great fish on 80lb casting poppers over the reef edges so that's why the "bigger gun" Casting was hard with such a short rod of the Diawa jig rod which is only about 5ft long, thats the reasoning to go to a 8ft rod. So hopefully with longer casts, bigger tackle I will hook more fish and get some of tho's lures back!! Well I can only hope! Greg
  19. Hi Raiders Anyone out there been pulled over board by a fish before? Reason why I ask such a weird question, apart from entertainment value from someone elses pain, I just bought a new rod out of a catalogue for poppering GT's. What a beast! It's a Smiths Tokara 60. It's rated at 120lb! I have matched it up with a Diawa Dogfight and 90lb sensor braid. I think Im going to die............ With me on the rod and a person on the tip, both leaning back we can get an ok bend in the rod, Like rolling a deep diving chubby on a bream rod. I have fished 18-20kg drag on my Saltiga 80 jig rod but now with 8ft of rod the leaverage is starting to go back in the fishes favor. Oh well it's going to be fun pulling it tho's pesky bream with it! lmao Anyone else with one of these or have tried one before? Greg

    Drive On Trailer

I use a drive on trailer and now I can run a 20ft boat by myself. Works a treat! I have to sink my trailer to top of the guards and almost float the boat off. This way the boat stays flat and then you wont clip the prop on the ramp, thats and expensive stuff up from experience....... twice........ Cheers Greg
  21. Aw man that green one use to hold some good bream!! Look at the groth on it. hehehehe Greg
  22. I have the fast net to at the moment, great for when 2 people are on the boat but it has a short handle. When I fish alone I still use my Environet with a long handle so I can just swim the fish into it. The fast net is definatly better tho with hooks and trebles. There is a new one coming in by the Skeeter boys. Similar to the fast net but longer in the handle plus it floats incase it slips out of your hands and you dont lose it. Havent got mine yet but others say it's great. The weight thing is only a problem when your catching butterflies when in the water netting fish they seem fine. Greg
  23. Pat's the young short Italian dude, I think your thinking of Sole. G
  24. Scotty if you are casting lures at them go a 3000 if you are bait fishing a 4000 will b fine. Make sure you give the boys heaps in there!! Especially that Pat bloke! hehehe (he's my comp partner) Greg
