  1. Thanks Billy We had a fish first up in Five Dock bay and scored a few nice bream and a stack of flatties. Nothing big but great for the young bloke to winch up on his little rod! Biggest bream would have only gone 31-32cm and most of the flatties were in the 40cm range. Only got 1 bream under tho's boats but we also got 1 frigate, did you see them busting up every few mins? Top fun on tho's bream rods and the rooster tail from the line flying threw the water is always spectacular! Greg
  2. Nice one 1975 Was it you guys near the rowing club around midday at the entrance to the bay? I was with my son on the blue and black Skeeter fishing the boats. We were out trying to get a couple of shots for a school project he had to do. Greg
  3. NOt sure Bmar, Patty has ordered them for me. I don't look after gear well enough to get them without warranty! Only indication I got on pricing for all of them was "expensive"! lol G
  4. Thansk again for your time and the info. I have ordered one already to match with one of my Loomis Float rods that I use. They are extreamly light and the action is like a fly rod, very soft. I mainly fish in the rivers for blackfish and the drifts aren't very long as we usually fish in the eddies so it's really just adjusting most of the time. Now I'm excited for it, will be great to play/learn something new! Plus I'm just a sucker for nice gear! G
  5. Hey Bmar Yeah I know they cost a bomb and they are orderable threw Australia. Wait time has been said of 3 weeks but we all know that could go alot longer but when you get use to waiting 6-12 months for a rod whats 3 weeks! The Hyper was the other choice but to many people have Certates, You know I like to be different! And with a funky name like that how could I pass G
  6. Surfing the net looking for some new goodies, found some crazy looking gear to reward myself with Now here is a weird named reel, perfect to match with my Miller beast busters. Morethan Branzino??? http://www.plat.co.jp/english/daiwa/salt_r...000/BRA3000.htm Then now this is a hot looking bait caster! Perfect for my Blade masters! http://www.plat.co.jp/english/bass/daiwa/Z...zillion_hlc.htm And last one is a reel for my luderick fishing. http://www.plat.co.jp/english/daiwa/salt_reel/LB/top.htm Man what is next???? Greg
  7. Very hit and miss Tomahawk that far up stream. I have seen plenty over summer while spinning for bream, sometimes they get tempted into eating a lure. Most have been seen while binging in a bream or tho's little snappers. You are better off chasing them from Black wattle bay and back in the harbor proper. Greg
  8. Nah Ice, nothing till Lake Mac ABT for me, about a month away. I have stopped fishing the "other" series totally this year, a shame really but In the process at looking at building a new Sydney series at the moment but we are still only at the talk stage but we will see what happens.......... Roberta Like Ice said, get them pink grubs but rig them on worm hooks so you don't get hung up on the leases or bite the bullet and throw a popper over the rail ones with a popper or a Sammie on big leader and hang on! Do not let the fish turn and just keep winding! Word of warning tho! Bream on surface is like a drug, I haven't fished a non surface lure now since Christmas! A full plano box and about a grand worth of surface lures later I still can't get enough! Specially up your way, bigger bass lures are the go, 6-7cm Greg
  9. Hiramasa some great info there buddy! I have been looking at them for the last 12 months for luderick fishing but not being able to hold one before I buy was the stopper for me and everyone I have asked no one has used or even seen one. At around $900 it was a big call to make especially for my first year luderick fishin! I have been using some old bream reels so far loaded with a floating mono and I has worked well but the free spool fuction seems like a great idea on these type of reels for drifting floats. I have off loaded some of my Certates to upgrade and now I'm in need of a a dedicated luderick reel. Do you think these would work? I have never used a centre pin before plus I don't think my rods are suited to them as they have a longish butt on them compared to many luderick rods I have seen so far. Cheers Greg
  10. Nice one Iceman! Nice to see a bream pic up mate! Looking a little chilli with the beanie on brrrrr Now the big question, how long are the bream going to chase poppers still? With this cooler weather starting to kick in, I wonder how much time we have left? The harbor still is producing but numbers have dropped over the last few weeks. Hopefully the Cow is still working as that's where I'm planning to head this coming weekend. Cheers Greg
  11. 2 stroke for me as I like a motor that screams when I drive the ring out of it! Fuel and oil, they all use heaps when there is only 2 speeds, FAST & STOP! I use to love my Mercs and yep they are still great but my latest ETEC HO is awesome, might not have that scream of a Merc but geez it's got some grunt! From 50mph to 70mph it pulls like a 6lt Clubsport!! I never thought you could have a off the shelf boat and motor that sucks you into your seat like a car can! BUT If I fished off shore it would be a different story, I would have 2 HO's on the back! LOL Greg
  12. Water ways have said there is no real marine reserves in the harbor that would stop us line fishing. The marina's are private property so we shouldnt fish within them but you can fish the out side walls. Personally I have had many conflicts with marina people and I have been on the out side and I stand my ground. I don't go inside any more tho. Greg
  13. Chnge your trebbles from the ones that come with the RS lures to Owners, You will hook alot more of the strikes. Greg
  14. Gulps are just another soft plastic lure, no real secrect in retreive. A lift drop with plenty of pause works well. Jig heads I use anything between a 1/40th HWS to a 1/8th, it's all depending on depth and current and change as things change, this is where multipal set ups come into their own. My fav gupls are the 6" worms and craws. Cheers Greg
  15. I have only started to use poppers this season on the bream and have found them most usefull along rocky shore lines that are covered in oysters. Hi tide, when the water is over the oysters is the most productive time BUT have still caught lots at low if you have some good scattered rock and nice rock shelves still submerged. Casted way up on the shoreline, and then worked out to the rock shelf where it drops away and paused, if you didn't get a bite on the way out watch around your lure while it's paused. Alot of fish seem to come out of no where and sit just below the lure, amazing stuff! A twitch or a quick rip, should get them to commit..... Poppers I have been using and with most success are the Team Diawa Zero, Ecogear PP60'sand then a bunch of weird named jap lures. Most are in the larger size range, 5-7cm seems the easist to cast long distance and get a good action. The ones mentioned you can either pop or even walk the dog on the retrieve. Others I like are the Sammy's 6.5cm walk the dog lure, koolabung fizzers in small and large and never discount the ever faithful pink grub! Just like the ad says, "once you pop you can't stop!" just be warned Greg
  16. Thanks guys for the replys. I'm gunna give it a go, I'm thinking around the Spit as the lights attract to bait fish there. Now I have to go buy a proper anchor! The one I have at the moment is one of those tinny fold up ones, just so I had all the safety requirments for comps. I have had this one for 2 years and the rope still hasn't been untied! The joys of lure casting! no lifting anchors Cheers Greg
  17. Hi Raiders All this king talk on here is starting to wear me down! I use to chase them a fair bit but over the last 3 years the bream have gotten in the way. My boat is really a lure casting boat but hey I'll try anything once! Question is, does anyone chase them at night? I personally have never caught one at night but have seen one landed at the spit at night. If so, does your technique change from daytime? Cheers Greg

    Tunes On The Water

I was looking at the Clarion unit that's been released. Ipod connectable plus it's water proof. Not a glorified unit that has a cover over it. Been threw to many of them to try again. Was just told Sony are bring in a new marine series. Cheaper, alot cheaper........ I love having music on the boat, takes the edge off while in comps and socially while eating lunch it's just plain nice! G
  20. I need one of them for the bream comps atm, I seem to only get 24.5cm fish!

    Boat Weights

Tow weights I think are total overall weight of boat plus the trailer. To get an idea just look up the quinnie site and find a similar boat, add another 200+kgs for the trailer. Greg
  22. I vote King! Specially on a bream rod Reason, done the Jew on bream gear already Would make a great camera opportunity! mpeg of the jew. Remember guys, most still cameras can do mpegs to! Greg

I wish! Nah we pay for EVERYTHING! Thats not negotiable! I take a packet of batteries, we pay for them. It's just a rule we have always have had. Plus it looks better for the staff that even the family pays for everything. I even have a folder at home with all my dockets of all the product I have at home, just incase the old man checks up on me. Greg
