  1. Hi Stumpy I don't know where this term "oversized" has come from but they only run the max HP that the boat is rated to. For insurance and warranty you can't run a motor bigger than the stated rating. I run one of these boats because I like the look of them, they make a perfect bream/bass casting boat, love the feeling the speed gives me and a boat like this is a great moving billboard for my sponsors and potential sponsors. There are smaller reasons like getting to spots first and no fear of super long runs and extended fishing times. Look at the winner, on the Sunday he fished from a friends Skeeter and stated because of the faster boat he got over an hour of extra fishing time because of the long run from Bayview to Berowra. His fish came on the bite very late in the session, with out the Skeeter he would of had to leave before the bite and would have missed them! He won $10,000............ Greg
  2. Mate have a look at the Morethan Brazino 3000. The 4000 start to feel heavy after 3hrs of casting. 3000's seem to feel more balanced with the light rods of today. Greg
  3. For the bestest fishin trip at a semi affordable price check out seafaris.com.au Cost is about $5k for a week ex Cairns on a 80ft live a board boat fishing out of dorys around the tip of Cape York. I have done this trip 4 times now and our fith is in November this year. If you fly fish, these guys have really cracked the permit action and really one of the only groups in Australia where you really stand a good chance to get one. Greg
  4. BUT you forgot the one with bonus points, how freaked out you can get your non-boater!! I was there, and a great comp it was. I sucked but that's fishing! I stayed in Pittwater the whole comp as it was to cold to go further with no gloves! hehehehe. Winter and these boats is tuff on the body, I only did a 3min run and it took a full smoke for my hands to defrost just to cast without throwing $2k worth of rod and reel over board! Boat drivers in these comps are good, very good. If you ever get the chance to drive one take it. You will then see another level of alertness!! Yes things come up quick and yes there isn't a brake but you do antisapate whats going on around you to a degree of being over causious. Personally I went the long way round in fast boats. My first bream boat was a 30mph hornet. Then a 60mph Nitro Then a 68mph Skeeter And now a 75mph Skeeter. Over the last 2 years I have slowly worked my way into faster boats just so I know I will not do anything stupid. These boats handle like nothing else I have been in. They turn like on rails and handle chop like a cruiser. Driving one of these is like driving a sports car. You pick your moments, keep distance from everything and just enjoy. Greg
  5. Sorry not sure on costs as it comes with the boat on purchase. I do know they sell it in the country as someone from another site bought some to replace some hatches but sorry I don't contact them any more. Greg
  6. one thing to ask them if it's hookless carpet. Dont get the loop pile stuff thats weather proof or when you lay a lure on the floor it will get stuck. I've had the hookless stuff in my last 3 boats, best stuff invented!! It use to piss me off in the hornet. Greg
  7. lmao Tony! Well someone has to do it! From the Monday after it tho, it's a different story!! Off to set up a new store for work, back to massive hours and lots a work. Well at least it will get me out from behind a desk for 6 weeks! Greg
  8. Mitch, 10 min drive at 530 in the morning. Out threw Newtown onto the HWY and a couple more K's and your there. Greg
  9. Off to Lake Macquarie to fish a bream classic then Sunday night off to Cairns on a "work" do till Wednesday arvo and then off to Narrabeen on Thursday to fish the Super Series Bream thingy Now I just hope the body is going to cope with all the Have fun all and be safe! Greg
  10. Thats a cracker of a Blue Eye! Well done. Can't help with the fish ID's but the red one looks like a Ocean Perch. cheers Greg
  11. Scott I think you will be fine in the salt with the Hyper. Usually on plat they will put "fresh water only" in the description part. The weights of the reels are very similar with the standards. The way I read it is that gearing is slighly different in the Hypers to the standards. (out of the Saltiga) The "air Metal" is fine in the salt, I have 13 bream reels that are "air metal" and 12 months later they are still all perfect looking. They don't chip like some of my lesser reels have in the past whilst strapped to the deck or in the rod lockers. What are you going to chase with this reel? Are you going to use it to spin plastics, jig or cast hard bodies? Greg
  12. No worries Rhysy There are some great tides ATM with the high just on dusk. I have been down over the last couple of weeks and have been doing better on plastics. The Gulp Craw on a hidden weight seems to be the gun at the moment. Good luck mate Greg
  13. The little Shimano braid scissors are less than $10 a pair! I have a few pairs of them scattered around the boat. You can trim so close that you can't even feel the tags when you run your fingers over the knot. Greg
  14. That's unlucky Roberta Is your printer still under warranty? If so just make sure if you use non-genuine inks it's still covered. Greg
  15. Work has put a stop to my plans to fish it! Even worse I have to drive past it on the way to Port Mac!! Looking to be a nice day for a 5hr drive each way! Greg
  16. 2kg+ tailor BUGGER THE BRIM!!!! out with the slices!!!! Hope I find tho's buggers Yeah good luck guys and make sure you come and say hello, I'm in a black and blue glass bass boat. Greg
  17. Hi Raiders Anyone from here fishing the Lake Macquarie Bream Classic thay's comig up on the 19-20th of May? I will be up there with my fishing partner Pat. Hope to see some others from here;) Greg
  18. If the fly is slightly weighted you can bow and arrow cast them. Any of the bream and flattie sized flys is not a problem with the bow and arrow cast. Ones with lead/brass eyes you can cast as normal. These are heavier than some of the bream plastics I use with worm hooks and no weight. Greg
  19. As we all love our fishing pics I have just loaded over 50 fishing shots of mine into the Gallery. I have been slack of late and haven't been taking any fishing shots. Been spending to much time playing around with my High Def Video camera. After sitting all morning in a managers meeting bord out of my brain, what a better way to spend my time than to go threw some of my old pics off my laptop. Now we all can share! lmao Cheers Greg ps here's just one of them
  20. Pmak When fishing along the wall make sure your first casts are along the wall in the direction you are walking;) Alot of the fish are right at your feet! Get your casts in before you walk there so you dont spook the fish off. Fish light and long leaders, finesse is the key for these busy areas. Greg
  21. No worries Pmak Iron cove I usually fished off the southern side wall. Easy fishing, no wet feet, some nice bream and flathead and a great prev! Best place to park is at the club on the end of Lilyfield rd Lilyfield. You can then go either way. 6 Years on and I'm still learning! lol My lure collection is huge but I still need more........ Tackle gets more expensive and boats get bigger and faster. The still gets angry about how often I want to go fishing And last of all, yep I still want to go every day! Greg
  22. Waders are good down there if you go the other side from the boat ramp. Enter via Wymstone pde Wareemba/fivedock. Here it's more flats and weed beds. At low tide you can get out a good 15-20m which is about thigh deep to access the deeper weed beds or fish the high and the first 30m from the wall fish well for both bream and flathead. Look for the drain pipes that come out from the wall especially after any rain;) I use to fish this area alot when I first started fishing plastics about 6 years ago(wow time flys!) and then when I was learning the fly rod. NIce and easy with not to many snags. Good luck Greg
  23. Mrs Stumps Best place to access Hen and Chicken bay would be the end of burwood rd Cabarita, where the boat ramp is. Rhysy Better time off the shore would be on the rising tide. I like left of the boat ramp towards the golf corse infront of the units. Hard bodies and reaction baits seem to work better for me. Try a Raphael or a baby vibe Greg
  24. Yeah Jeremy is 6 almost 7 and has been fishing with me on my boats since 3. He first started to learn how to cast around 3 when I use to practice casting into buckets in the back yard every day. He use to be very good at casting but we have both gotten slack lately. He loves using bait but my boat has no rod holders so it makes it a little hard so we cast plastics. He has been using them now for the last 2 years and has caught some great fish. His PB bream is 38cm to the fork!!! Then there is his EP's, flatties and stuff, Just wish I had his opportunities when I was his age!! Greg
