  1. Fin, I got the man bag for my computer from the family......... Lucky for me I'm shouting the father and the outlaw a trip out on the boat with Ross in a few weeks which I just have to go on as well. Greg
  2. Hi Ceph At the moment Diawa's are most of my reels now. I haven't bought a Shimano in 2 years. But I will look at the new models tho before my next reel purchase. At the presant I can't fault the Exist's in anyway in the lighter reel end. My Morethan Branzino would be my fav reel at the moment. Big drag and so small and light! Perfect Sydney sized reel me thinks. powerful enough for small kings and jews, perfect to cast all day because of weight and size. This is a 3000 sized reel. Bigger ones the Certate Hypers are great and using one last week snapper fishing with Ross it worked a treat but seriously never got a true work out. Well as you can see I'm a true Diawa fan at the moment but I use to be total Stella only, but with the line lay issues the old ones had I went else where but have never lookd back since. Cheers Greg
  3. Hi Raiders. For the first time in 7 years I didn't get any fishing related gifts They recon I have to much stuff already........ not true I tell ya's!!!! They got me a manbag for my lappy only cause they recon I look like a school kid with my old back pack one. I've seen these bags and for the price of it I could have got another Saltiga or equivalant!!! I always tell them, "Don't fight my addiction, just let me go more and all will be fine". How did you guys go? Greg
  4. Nice pic's! Can't wait to get up there in a few weeks for the Skeeters owners tounement. What's the bar like? I hope to get the skeeter out the front while we are up there. Cheers G
  5. Lol Iceman Just like bream but everything bigger with blue dots! Thos conditions yesterday I recon I could have made it in the Skeeter but without Ross's knowledge there is no way Patty and I could have caught as many fish. The big plus, we didnt have a boat to wash when we got home! G
  6. To Ross and Chris Thank you both for a wonderful day out on your fine vessel Broard Bill. You run a very professional outfit and made it very welcoming and fun for Pat and myself. We both learnt alot and caught lots of good fish and had smiles on our faces all day, that's what charter fishing is all about. We will be back for sure to find tho's bigger reds next time....... Cheers Greg Lee
  7. Nice post Roberta I always wanted to know the benifits of each style of yak(paddle or peddle). Love the look and set up of those mirages. What sort of car do you drive and do you put it on roof racks? Easy to get on and off? I was worried I couldnt lift it onto the roof racks of my SUV. Cheers Greg
  8. Fish the Parra around the large drain mouths, specially with the early morning run out tide. The bream will be hanging around them waiting for the food to get flushed out. Good luck! Greg
  9. Maybe they just arent making enough from fishing licences and GST that we pay on all goods already........
  10. You can never have to many! I think if you have used the rod in the last 3 years it's fine. After that it's time to sell it. I went threw my collection a few weeks ago and culled 9 outfits. A few I have already sold off to friends the rest I might put up in here. As a totally addicted angler I tend to go threw phases in my fishing. Years ago I baitfished the rivers and gamefished off our game boats. Then lure fishing the rivers took over as I had a very young family, I didnt have the time to blow full days out on the water. Fly fishing was next and then back to lure fishing. Now it's lure fishing the rivers, blackfish and tropical lure casting plus I'll take the fly rod out if the salmon are up on top in the harbor. So the main rods are# 8x bream tournement rods. 2x blackfish rods. (10ft for rivers, 13ft for rocks) 2x fly rods. (7wt, 9wt) 5x tropical lure casting rods. (20,30,50,80,100lb) 4x low profile bait casters 4x larger river spin rods (8,10,14 and 20lb) plus a few game rods left overs. All outfits are now in the premium end so I'm happy with what I have, it's only upgrades from here. I have 3 rod racks in the garage plus the bream rods live in the boat rod locker. It has taken many years to get them and to work out what I like. Most reels are Diawa and rods are either Diawa or Miller with Sage fly rods. Just make sure that you have paper work and photos sent in for your insurance!!! I have about $50k insurance for them..... Greg
  11. Willis rd Castle Cove. Track at the end of the st. Summer time is the best with plenty of bream taking surface lures ontop of the rock shelves. Seen plenty of squid down there and have even caught a few on plastics. Kings up there in summer plus frigates Good Luck Greg
  12. I have a Stella 2500FB. The 2500 is size and FB is the series. FB's are the 2006-07 series. They make them in different models to. Greg
  13. Nice one Ross! They are some great reds and I can't wait for Monday now!!!! Patty and I are going to have a ball with ya! Cheers Greg
  14. NICE! I was wondering who the lucky person was that picked it up. Great ride dude and see you out on the river! Greg
  15. So what's the new one Greg? Still bream boat? Greg
  16. I wish! I can't fit any bigger into the garage Been VERY happy with this one. Size does matter when cutting threw the harbor chop. The speed thing I still can't get enough of, if only I could fit 3 more feet into the garage. One of these(Bullet) with a Merc 300XS would do me
  17. We'll just keep that between us I know what you mean tho!! I usually feel guilty about it till I arrive! G
  18. I think the saltwater ones have a sacraficial anode on it and the fresh water ones didnt. You can buy the anodes tho I have used the Maxxums for the last 3 boats and never had a problem with any and they are a fresh water model. I dont use the anode and I hardly even wash it! Rinse and spray is all they get. Greg
  19. Dont think it was me but you know what they say "we all look the same" hehehehe. This is me with a long tail on one of the trips on the western side of Cape York. It would have been not even a km from shore and they were like salmon schools off Sydney!! 95 days and counting! Greg
  20. This is the longest I have waited for a trip. Usually it's only 12 months or so but this time we wanted to pick one of the first trips of the reef season instead of the end. The fishing on past reports show better fishing Better fishing just means more pain! But don't they say "no pain no gain?" IFS yeah I do "attemp" to fly fish but on the reef fly is very limited as the coral is so shallow. We fly fish on the western side of the cape in the rivers and tunas just off shore. One good thing about this count down it's given me more time to stock the box with a better lure selection and upgrade some of the gear! Hey Justin Recon it's almost warm enuff for another crack down the street one nite Greg
  21. When you are really looking forward to something do you love or hate the count down? I have less than 100 days to go before I go back to my "happy place" Cape York Queensland This will be trip 5 on the good ship Seafaris in as many years. This is where I zone out to on tho's tough days at work or just before I fall asleep at night. My place I dream about when things are tuff, my oasis in the desert of ground hog days......... oh how I love that place, the piece and quiet, the talking on the top deck watching the sun go down over the water in the west(us easterners don't get to see), sashimi on the deck washed down with a cold amber bevy, the big meals at the end of the day with a few nice wines and great company, the serenity of walking along a beach with the only foot steps there are yours........ Then there's the fishing.......... OMFG!!!! Deep heat and Voltaren pills are your best friend! You know it's good when you go threw close to $2000 a trip in lures! Man I love that place......... My count down has well and truly begun, this trip was booked over 18 months ago! Finally we have entered the home straight, it's been a real tester for me personally but the wait is coming to an end. The sound of 10" poppers chugging over crystal clear water over coral heads is getting louder! Now bring on that first hook up!!! Greg
  22. I use both but if you are going to run mono I would go the Stella as the drag is smoother on start up on big drag settings. Braid is my personal choice, and the 6500exp has the bling handle that just feels sensational in hand :wank: . My fav to use Doesn't the 6500 have a lower gear ratio? Better for fighting large fish on drawn out battles....... Greg
  23. OUCH You might want to trim the tags down alittle, I find I get more bites that way! Flurocarbon wont stand out like dogs balls like the blue stuff you used either....... Wishing you a speedy recovery. Greg
  24. Lee, always up for new spots, you know it's the way of a tournement angler to beg, steal and what ever else it takes to find someone elses spot! lmao But if your offering, SWEET! Sorry Dan, we have only just started to venture out of the Cove area on our quest to learn more ways and areas to catch BIG bream on lures. The areas we have found fish in everyone else fishes to. We are just finding and focusing on the prime spots and then fishing deeper and slower than we use to. Add in some of the different and newer lures to hit the market we are starting to put a pattern together. Some places are where we use to bait fish in the past and some are just places crazy to throw a lure into and expect to get it back! Add light leaders or fluro main lines in the <4lb range ya have troubles straight from the bite. We just think it's better to get more bites and worry about the rest after that! Well that's what I tell myself on the 10th rerigg for the morning IMO To get better at any form of sport you have to practice and focus on one technique till you become very good at it and then move onto another. Pat and I have fished together for 4 years and near 3 of thos have been in the Lane Cove River fishing moored boats and nothing else. We can slowly drive on the leccy flicking plastics at boats and name half of them before we get there! Now we are just working out on our next technique to try and master well become half decent at........... cheers G
  25. G'day Lee Nah mate didn't get out this week as I have taken on a store at the moment, the office work was killing me. Didn't have a day off this week. The pics were from last weeks feast. IFS had a good session, fished some unusual areas but will now be a part of my comp run so I can't put any of the pics up It was a very expensive day! $120 for lunch and then we lost close to $200 in lures! 4lb and deeeep cover don't mix........ Greg
