Im interested in a career in aquaculture, mainly fish farming. I was wondering if anyone has/had experience in this field and what should i expect, now i have looked for places where i can study and it seems that if i were to study i would have to move North to Townsville or South to Tasmania as im located in Sydney this wouldn't be ideal but if i have to i will, so my question is does anyone have any hints or tips in how i can hopefully break into the industry? I have done some reading and there are Oyster farms at Towra point and i hear that there are fish farms there aswell but im yet to read about them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for that, yea i had a go last night fishing structure on the run out tide, had a good pickup but it got spat, im still yet to master jews on bait and plastics seem a lot harder, im guessing you strike the jew as you feel the hold unlike you would if you were fishing bait.

Fished SWA (Port Hacking) today with plastics along the edges on the run out tide, was fairly quiet, however the were whitebait schools working the surface. i managed one 65cm flattie and went thru about a pack of Gulp! as the tailor were ripping them to shreds. Has anyone else noticed that there are heaps of undersized tailor in the river (20-25cm)? The Gulp! has really grown on me i mainly didnt use them before as i didnt like how they would leak in my bag, the fish was taken on 2.5' shrimp in Nuclear chicken. I also spotted what i believe was a small shark that was cruising the surface along the channels, it was brown in colour and would have been 2ft max, as i wasn't close enough to identify it i have no idea what it could have been, any ideas?

What lures are working atm for Kings , bonnies and other pelagic, i plan on trolling some lures around Jibbon and Bate bay. I was also just wondering what i could do in terms of gear to try and eliminate line twist. Thanks

Who follows these size/bag limits seriously? Every 2nd LB fisho i have seen have had at least 1 10cm snapper in their possession, id rather there be checks on these ppl before increasing the size limits.

No its illegal to trap them, however there certiantly are blue swimmers in the port hacking

Yea my favourite atm is Powerbait i didnt vote Gulp! because the pack leaks and i barley used them, but the gulp i have used has been very good!

O ok, thanks for that, yea i have only just seriously tried using plastics like 8 months ago and last week i landed my first Bream on them, only small went 23cm but bloody hard work!

Good stuff, the Port Hacking can be a struggle but if you study it, there are fish to be caught, Read the paper today and they reckon that there are 20kg+ jews being pulled out of there.

I have had no luck what so ever, i have got one and dropped a couple of flatties over the last 3 sessions, im finding it really hard to find them and im noticing that the bait schools are leaving even the tailor aren't ripping into my SP's!

Ill keep it short and sweet, went for a 2 hour fish today landed a Pb Trev on SP that went 40cm, a flattie was dropped and a 31cm tailor was landed, now my next question is what Braided line should i be using? Lures used 3' Pearl Bassminnow- Got the trev 3' Watermellon Bassminnow- Zilch 3' Nuculer chicken Minnow- Had a flounder but dropped him I had rapala but it keeps on getting air knots, i cast about 150+ times each session so i was wondering what to spool up next? How does the 4lb pink fireline go? Thanks guys.

How do you guys store it without leaking, this is my 3rd packet of Gulp and its the third that has leaked, whats the trick? I do seal the bags what else am i meant to do?

Yea you can take them, what i did to be sure was drill a hole thru the vipper so i could put a padlock on them, last trip the 7' rod tube housed 3 rods so yea its fine.

Short and sweet tried a new spot today fishing the plasitcs on the fall and rise 1 hour of each, pretty quiet landed one flattie 44cm, another 55cm and a 34cm trevally, they go alright, all fish were taken on Pseed bassminnows 3' and most hits i found were on the run up which was a surprise for me, I nearly lost a flattie due to the hook twisting (TT Jigheads) not very happy has anyone else had these troubles? Tried, Green, Pearl, Bloodworm and pink lemonade for zilch.
