  1. Unlucky mate, its not easy to land one, but i think the best chance to take one is on squid, i have tried several times with yakkas for zilch, where squid has worked but they have been dropped. BTW what shark did you catch?
  2. Chest waders are a very good investment, i have the Snowbee ones that are around $105 that are a light brown made of light material they are ideal as they breath and more comfortable than the other PVC waders you'll get for $50 less, they also provide good protection from those nasty rays that we get down here. They do have compartments for tackle at the front but there is very limited room, my advice is to get the ones you can afford, after all they are a good investment. Hope that helps
  3. Last night went out fishing for bait, that being squid at for a Jew session early this morning. In the beginning it was very slow no hits no nothing, but at about 7:30 we picked up 10 nice arrows in about 10 mins. Started this morning from Dolans bay boat ramp at 540 for spot X to target the jews, i had two combos, one being a SicStick Pro with a 4000 Symetre and 20lb braid and the other was a T-curve with a 1000 stradic spooled with 4lb braid. Dropped two squid down for very little in after about 1 hour my T-curve gets a good jew run, takes about 30 m of line and snap there goes the leader... Very disappointing considering that he didn't take my other line and that was the only action. Dropped several other baits, but they were getting munched by the leatheries so we decided to target them. Ended up with 20, the biggest being 2 fanbellies going 35 and 36cm. All in all a good day on the Port just a bit disappointing not being able to get into the jew.
  4. Thanks for the reply and helpful information, yea i have tried the rebal popper with no luck so far, and the river2sea, im getting hits but no fish.
  5. Just bought a River2Sea popper that is 3cm long in black, has anyone used it with success? Im trying clear ones and blacks any other opinions?
  6. Was wondering what rod i should get fishing SP's for a mate, it must be Okuma or Silstar in the 2-4kg line class, im willing to pay a fair bit. Thanks
  7. Nice thats towards south west arm in the port hacking right? Great pic one of my favs.
  8. Unlucky, it hasn't been that bad recently, i have caught a few fish recently. Last outing on the boat saw us land a jew whiting and a bream, so there are fish for the taking.
  9. ahhhhh of course it would but im in for a challenge
  10. What are some good ones? I plan to target them at my local sandflat.
  11. Great stuff, well done on that Whiting i have always been keen to fish for them with poppers.
  12. I dont know how your smiling in that pic, id be in tears if i lost a stella...
  13. 3' Burkley bassminnow in Pearl, believe in me, once you get a PB flattie on SP's you'll be hooked till your next quiet spell... Yea , i held it like that cause she was pretty buggered after the fight she gave me! Your right, you dont know what to think, at that stage i would of ended the day, but i continued to get 9 smaller models.. haha
  14. Very nice man, i know how they go on light line got one acouple of weeks around that size! And isn't it great to see them go back like that, after the fight on light line they are buggered as it can last for up to 20 mins! BTW just a bit of advice, i wouldn't leave your reel in the sand like that, it wont last long at all! Thats just you i think!
  15. Not uncommon they are very inquisitive, i have seen some up to 1m come under the tender as we sail around Bate bay.

    Daiwa Sol Reels

    Where is the sol made?
  17. Thanks mate, yea went out the day before for about 3 hours for zilch, chasing the Jew, we had good livies to Tailor and Yakkas the only thing i managed was a big numb-ray on 3' gulp. Other blokes came back at the same time as us and managed 20 odd whiting up to 42 cm so the river isn't fishing to bad.
  18. Went out tonight on the boat, landed one bream 30cm, one whiting 33cm and a Jew 50cm. all taken on nippers

    Gulp! Alive?

I guess you can return unused ones back in the bucket and you can put other gulp into the bucket?
  22. Sorry i mean like the gap between the lip of the spool and the line, in other words don't overfill the spool
  23. G'day mate, For mine i would go 6lb Rapala titanium braid, thats what i use or 4lb fireline with a 6lb Nitlon flurocarbon trace. That line can handle more than you would imagine, i have landed 65cm kings, salmon and big flatties on it, the key is when fishing light is to take your time and be patient. BTW the fireline breaks above its rating. Nitlon is about $17.50 for 100m as compared to vanish that is $19 for 200m or something, and i haven't found that there is that much difference between the two. It can be expensive when fishing with this line so the key is to leave a gap on the spool so you dont get wind knots, its painful and time consuming trust me! I fish the flats so my fish dont graze the flurocarbon as much as they would if i were in the boat so if fishing for bigger flatties i would go about 10-12lb flurocarbon, of course they can still break it but your a better chance with that over the the 6lb. Hope that helps.

    Gulp! Alive?

Worth the extra money? Yes or no as compared to the ones out of the pack, and how much do they retail for? something like $20? And how many plastics would you get in the bucket. Thanks
