  1. My guess it’s just Garmin trying to get more coin out of the navionics acquisition.
  2. That explains it. Navionics on phone has better maps then my Garmin. That said, with the price increase I may just put up with the Garmin and not renew
  3. Interesting. What contour intervals are you getting on your Garmin? Are you using g2 maps or the ones that are built in? Does your navionics have an active subscription? I’ve found the opposite true, navionics on phone with a subscription is better then the Garmin built in charts. I’ve read lots of complaints around the Garmin charts I.e doesn’t cover Lake Macquarie.
  4. That hasn’t been my experience in the past. Last time my subscription ran out the maps downgraded significantly.
  5. Nice one. if your dropping the pump just over the edge somewhat, look at using some water proof connectors and heat shrink on the wiring joins. The outlet mesh is pretty small - just keep an eye on it, I found with mine that squid ink & slime can block it up. good work.
  6. Depends on how much bait you want to keep mines an old 36l esky with about 25 litres of working water. That’s enough room for 15 squid or 20 yakkas which does me. Haven’t had anything die yet, but when full I have pump always on. 60 is heavy, it’s another person on board. Make sure you have a way to empty it.
  7. It will be fine. But if you want to see the theory, the pump will have the amp draw likely 2amp for a 500gph pump, then look at your battery spec for its amp hour capacity. Use clips or anderson plug or sae plug.

  10. Negative of pump to negative of battery. positive of pump - to switch, then switch to fuse, then fuse to positive of battery
  11. Depends on how much power it draws. What motor/pump are you using? heres mine https://imgur.com/a/5kEjTG4 i hook up to battery directly via a ctek plug. I’ve added a 2 mode power switch, a infinite relay so I get have it turn on for 30 seconds then off for 60 seconds. Also has a pulse width modulation controller so I can slow the motor down and use less power. Uses 2amps on slow. I only turn it up to full when a squid dumps it’s ink. make sure you add a fuse.

  13. If it’s just for the led anchor light you can use pretty much anything as the draw will be so low. 18AWG will be fine.
  14. Don’t forget the off shore safety gear/requirements.
  15. Time to retire the 25 year old shimano chronarch. It’s served me well, but now beyond repair. 25 years isn’t bad Looking for feedback on the kastking baitcasters - the brochure reads well & priced cheap. Has anyone tried one?
  16. Don’t use ethanol. It absorbes water. Just use non-ethanol at the octane rating your motor is tuned for.
  17. I wouldn’t discount a good 2nd hand boat. Not sure what issues you’ve had in the past - but how old/many hours was on the 2nd hand ones you bought? Stick to low age/hours and get a mechanic to do a *pre inspection and you’ll save some coin. I hunted around for 6 months before I bought mine - had 13 hours on it and paid 60% new cost. I haven’t had a single issue yet (now 250 hours in). I know people who have had more drama with buying new. I get buying new, but with homework, looking in the right places (sub 30 hour renegades pop up every month) and with some patience you can save a bit of money if it’s tight. Also - if you haven’t done so, spend some time in a tinny before you comment, big difference compared to glass, make sure youll be happy. * I didn’t get a pre inspection done with mine. When I was looking, The marine mechanic was booked out for 3 weeks so I said I’ll wait for that, or drop another 1k and I’ll get today. Had a service done 3 weeks later, mechanic said this is the newest second hand boat he’s seen.
  18. It’s just no fishing in the swimming enclosure
  19. Has anyone here given feedback on the Tunks Park lockout?
  20. Did you try this wizard http://fishesofaustralia.net.au/key/family
  21. Either test with 12v straight to the plug or test your cars socket with a test light/multi meter to work out which.
  22. Your green and brown are the wrong way around.
