  1. I recall reading about the theft of your gear recently Tara. Thats great that your back on the water, well done. Did Santa drop off the yak?
  2. That's no flatheadluke, see what I did there. Lol. Nice fish luke, well done.
  3. Its like alot of things, a majority suffer so a minority prosper. Same down here at Lake Illawarra. I too reckon a year off from commercial and even recreational fishing would do wonders for an area under pressure. Id be happy to steer clear of an area for awhile.
  4. Nothing better than the take on a plastic or jig, so aggressive. The only problem now is your bank account as it decreases while you stock up on plastics. ?
  5. Morning all, took my girls for an afternoon session on Wollongong reef yesterday. Water was dirty and 20c with an uncomfortable bump. Caught and released a couple of pan size pinkies, a big mowie and one of the largest Sargent baker Ive ever seen, wife reckons he was a General. All fish on butterfly jigs. Overall it was a pretty relaxed session and I'm happy to report not a barracuda in sight. Back at the ramp by 5pm. Used the new wash down area at Port Kembla and have to say I miss having the grass area, be interesting to see how it handles the summer crowd. Hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas.
  6. It's the first destination penciled in for the new boat when it arrives.
  7. The bait is usally holding wide round my way, and if the bait is in close its usally because there is nothing chashing it and they feel safe.In saying that I refer to "out wide" as being 15km or so and further. Im sure others wouldn't consider out wide till the shelf. I wish we had regular captures in close. Might have to live in Scratchies garage for the summer.
  8. Lol. Just checked latest charts , it has cleaned up quite a bit and come in closer.
  9. Not wrong, conditions so far have been really hit and miss. The warm currents have pushed in all mixed up, clean temp breaks have been out of reach. There's been better action in close rather than out wide.

Yep. Sea temp, altimetry, currents, chlorophyll charts etc. Does it help catch more fish? Yea , but it did take me awhile to learn how to put all the info together. Guess it helps me find where the bait should be quicker, that hopefully equates to finding the fish.
  11. Mmmm, how does Johnny tax payer benefit from this. https://www.huonaqua.com.au/community/community-consultation/huon-aquaculture-port-stephens/
  12. Thats interesting, so there farming them. Wonder how "storm proof" the pens are. How far offshore are they positioned? Will be interesting to hear how it affects fishing in the area, keep us posted.
  13. What are the king fish pens Scratchie, are they fish traps or something?
  14. Well Ive done a bit of a shifty. I already had an un used digital camera which has been wrapped up and Santa will drop off Xmas morning. I even remembered the batteries. As for the boat I will start a thread once I start getting progress photos early next year. Finished product should look like this.

According to the DPI update there have been reports of dollies all the way down to the Sydney FADS.
  17. The gates on the seawall road were closed on Sunday. There's a company trying to reclaim the wave rider project at oillies (the big derilic lump of steel just off the beach ), I guess they prefer the gates shut at the moment to keep the public away from the job site. There the second company to attempt the removal so the gates may be closed for sometime. Was speaking with there foreman last week and apparently there's 6 meters of the thing buried under the sand. I got the impression that they are only reclaiming what's above the sand. Either way, no access at the moment.
  18. Great report. Haven't been there for 25 or so years. It use to be chock full of ski boats, cant imagine trolling there it was that busy. Is the caravan/camping park still on the point?
  19. Gday Noel, out of curiosity what does something like this retail for new?
  20. I think you might struggle to find a quality boat package in that size for your budget, hopefully I'm wrong ( more often than not ) and you find one. Keep us posted.
  21. Sounds good mate, jackets on and get amongst it.
