Also if your using artificial jigs this is a case of the expensive ones out fishing the cheapies , in my experience at least.

Anywhere with broken ground , weed, gravel , somewhere they can hide etc. Anywhere with lights at night , jettys etc. Anywhere that holds smallish bait fish with little to no current. lol almost anywhere.
  3. Good luck boys , stay safe.

    Which Boat

Do you have to cross a bar at Noosa to get outside? Forget it JCC, to dangerous in a tinny of those size parameters.
  5. Agree with Paddy, drift past if others are in the area. Depends on the type of hook you plan on using. I find circle/recurve hooks work better when bridled, j hooks work well pinned into livie or on a rubber band for a more immediate strike.
  6. Mate of mine nabbed a few frigates and bonnies on the inside of the breakwall at port this morning, easy paddle for you yakkers.

    Which Boat

Repost this in the boating section mate, opinions a plenty will flood in.
  8. Oh Fab don't get me started on nav light use, lol. The only positive I see these morons provide is good subject matter for the morning smoko rant , lololol.
  9. I'd wager Fab went and jacked up his trailer just so he could take some photos to use as a visual aid for this thread. Super helpful Fab , love your work
  10. You can never be wrong advocating donning a PFD , law or not its always the right thing to do. Facebook's for selfie taking wankers , Fishraider's where it's at.
  11. Best thing about rewiring the boat yourself is if the proverbial hits the fan your familiar with the circuit and can hopefully fix/diagnose the problem. Bus bars make it easy to add or remove circuits later down the track., well worth the extra effort.
  12. LoL , not quite but I see what your getting at.
  13. These are the go if your serious about water ingress.
  14. I think its the phrase "Blow up" that is the myth. An engine running poor fuel wont "Blow up" but it may damage the bore, rings, piston crowns and skirts, seals etc. Also the key word here is "May" , poor fuel isn't necessarily a death sentence for an engine but it is a little like eating sugar, tastes great but you know its doing you damage over time. The newer injected engines have finer tolerances and smaller timing parameters, putting them at higher risk of failure. In saying all that you would be amazed what a modern internal combustion engine can run on. Many moons ago when I did my apprenticeship the amount of things my fellow class mates and I poured down the carby of a running engine when the teacher wasn't looking, oh jeez here come the memories lololololol. Any who , its better to run fresh rather than stale fuel if you can.
  15. Alcohol blended fuels are hygroscopic, meaning that they absorb moisture from the atmosphere, the alcohol prevents the fuel from splitting among other advantages. Typical approved shelf life is 3-4 months at 60-65 percent humidity. Non alcohol blended fuels have a longer (variable due to blends) shelf life but will eventually split forming solids known as gums. Much like mixing water and oil together, eventually they will separate. Fuel stabilizers work by forming a bond between some or all of the blend. There is many in depth, mind melting studies to support fuel degradation . Seek and you shall find.
  16. I dare say you won't see it again Seb. Better start saving for new gear. I hope I'm wrong though. Why did you leave it so long to post this ?
  17. Got a few hundred thousand lying around ? Look at the sailfish cats there pretty special.
  18. Maybe pink/red tones being the first to "washout " gives a darker , cleaner silhouette. Possibly red reef fish are so coloured to blend in to the reef. I remember reading an article on jig colours and silhouettes a couple of years back , really interesting. Wish I could remember where I read it. I know the new ultraviolet jigs I've used haven't seen an increase in hookups. I have to remind myself occasionally that fishing tackle is designed primarily to catch fishermen rather than fish. You would think that the action is more important than the colour.
  19. This makes it easy to visualize. Same reason I tend to use blue, silver or black for deep water jigging. The silhouette is more important than color at depth.
  20. Ha, your hooked. Some of my best and worst days in life have been on a boat.
  21. Bring the sunscreen John its been pretty hot of late.
