  1. Hey Raiders! Fished with Swordy yesterday, in the hopes of a first Jewfish. After the previous success of his teaching skills (4 from 4!) he certainly didn't fail to deliver. On the Cooks, armed with his favourite plastics, we had both landed a good Jewfish before the sun was even up! Stewy made the call to move to a different system and aim for another first for me - estuary perch. So while he was packing the boat up at the ramp, I cooked up some fresh bacon and egg rolls for breakfast. Judging by the compliments, I've set a high standard for a feed on the fishraider boat! Put in at chippo lakes to chase EPs for not much luck. Spent a few hours at a bunch of stewys spots for zilch... Then out of nowhere, I hook up. 'Aww. It's only a bream. Damn!' little did he know I'd never caught a bream on SPs before - another first! In the same spot stewy landed a nice bass, so we kept fishing. A while later and still no EPs (but another bass for stewy) we called it a day and headed home. A great day on the water! First Jewfish, first bream on SP, and even learned a couple of new knots and tricks on the water. Thanks for the great day @swordfisherman! Cheers, Wellzy P.S. the pic of food was of an extra I made when I got home, just to show the level of quality!
  2. Sorry for the delay! Posting the report soon. Became preoccupied with catching up on sleep after the early start, and the late night. Too excited with the prospects of a jewfish to sleep the night before! Cheers, Wellzy
  3. That's how I do it, mate! I'll use a single hook through the top lip of the fish. If I'm bringing up baits with the head left, I'll switch to two hooks. One in the mouth, one in the back. Cheers, Wellzy
  4. Try using a slider clip above your leader and attaching a swivel to that. It allows the fish to swim more naturally than on a paternoster rig, giving the fish some extra line to move around. Cheers, Wellzy

    Cybersecurity tips

Unfortunately the smarter (and more talented) ones are much harder to track down. They use multi-level encrypted VPNs to bounce their IP address through loops in excess of half a dozen locations, and have further countermeasures in place that makes them near-impossible to track down. There's a reason the good hackers are good - I remember a story a while back now when someone hacked into the Pentagon... Once he was found, he was offered a job as a counter-hacker at the Pentagon. Thanks for the tips Luke! Cheers, Wellzy
  6. Good on you, Tara! That puts Swordies Cook's Jewfish Charters on 4 from 4, holding that 100% success rate! Cheers, Wellzy
  7. PaddyT nailed the float setup for tailor. An alternative is to set up a burley trail of whatever you're using as bait (cubes of yakkas or pillies are good) and throw out yakka fillets or whole pilchards on ganged hooks, unweighted. Cheers, Wellzy
  8. Good stuff Dirvin! Those trevally are hard fighters for their size. As for the yellow coloration of the fins, I'm pretty sure that's common for juvenile and sub-adult silver trevs. Once they reach adult stage, they lose the yellow in the fins. Cheers, Wellzy
  9. In my experience, bream are more active in the summer but the bream caught in winter tend to be bigger on average. Cheers, Wellzy
  10. Unfortunate you didn't make the water, but it was probably in your best interests to turn back. Hopefully the water levels get back up soon! I'm planning a trip to Wagga when the weather warms up, I can make a trip out your way and we can meet up for a fish Cheers, Wellzy
  11. I have Celtas too, I forgot I had them! Royce, I got 2x CD5s, one in rainbow and one in brown. I also got a tub of Powerbait 1" Craws. Thanks for the advice, raiders!
  12. Hi Cuss, As Sea Shepard said, you can find bream, jackets, trevally and (if you're lucky) snapper in those areas. I'd opt for a running sinker rig with the smallest sinker possible to get to the bottom, and a leader 4-6ft long. For bait, your usual suspects should work well - Pilchard, prawns, chicken (breast and guts), and bread. Good luck! Cheers, Wellzy
  13. Hey Marks, PM sent Cheers, Wellzy
  14. Rick, would you suggest a specific colour? Anything, or specifically the trout patterns?
  15. I do plan on taking the fly rod. I've got a couple of woolly buggers and pheasant tails that I'll bring along as well. Fully armed, just need some hardbodies.
  16. Thanks Houdini! I've also got a couple of Ecogear SX40s, I'll make sure to pack those as well as some small cranks. As for baits to soak, I'll be taking worms and Powerbaits!
  17. Hey raiders! I'm travelling towards the Jenolan Caves for the weekend. The house I'm staying at has a private dam that's stocked by the owners every 12 months, and I'm hoping to catch a few trout. Any recommendations of lures to get? I've got a few Tassie Devils, but that's about it. Cheers, Wellzy
  18. Getting a chance to fish overseas is an opportunity I've yet to take! Good on you for getting into fish you can't get around here. You're right about those pacu, they've got a nasty set of chompers! That carp also has a beatiful sheen to it. Cheers, Wellzy
  19. Beautiful king mate! Good on you for getting out and battling the cold, it definitely was worth the effort. Cheers, Wellzy
  20. Haha! Fair enough. I've still got a lot to learn Cheers Wellzy
  21. There was plenty of small bait schools around. If there were tailor about, I'm very surprised there wasn't a bustup!
  22. Definitely, Rah. The weather was beautiful, and the wind was at our backs. Nice view of the touristy stuff too Cheers, Wellzy
  23. That's one thing I have no idea about. However running by the same logic, arming yourself with different fly designs to match different kinds of weed (mainly varied colours of string/wire weed) would increase your chances. I also imagine you'd still have to burley with weed to keep the fish in the zone! Cheers, Wellzy
  24. The advantage of the low water levels is you get a good look at where the structure is, and how it's laid out underwater! Another advantage you'll have over those sneaky cod once the water level rises again. Cheers, Wellzy
  25. Had been pestered all week to take the family out for a fish, so headed to the harbour for a session. Set up to soak some baits for not much action. Had a few enquiries but few and far between, and the only fish caught was a baby snapper (est. 12cm) which was released healthy! With plans to pack up by noon and head home, rigged up a 2.5" shad to have a flick. Second cast had a solid hit and lost the tail of the SP, right at the hook! Spewing. Packed up with nothing worthwhile caught. However, one guy fishing not far from us hooked up, and we rushed the landing net over to give him a hand. He refused the landing net, grabbed the leader to hoist the fish up, and PING! Leader snapped. Fish got away Nothing caught, but a great day for fishing with the sun out all morning. Cheers, Wellzy
