  1. I haven't tested scents on any lure fishing in fresh water, might give it a crack and find out! Cheers, Wellzy
  2. I use S Factor. My first fish ever caught on SP was after 3 hours of flicking without a touch... Then I added scent to the SP and landed a legal flathead a few casts later working the same ground. Cheers, Wellzy
  3. Nothing wrong with the Nepean mate! I'm also from Penrith. Nepean will start firing in the coming weeks (if it hasn't already). Cheers, Wellzy

    Wedding

Not true! I'm fishing the next two weekends, and she's fishing with me for one of them Didn't get a chance to fish at Airlie, unfortunately. Saw a bustup from the boat on our snorkelling tour of Hamilton Island, and tried to book in a charter, but no luck! Fished at the Gold Coast though, plenty of big greenback tailor around there. Cheers, Wellzy

Thanks Scratchie! It was a lot of time, money, planning and stress for what felt like such a short day, but I wouldn't change a thing. Cheers, Wellzy

    Wedding

Hi raiders! My partner @Hamilton and I got married at the beginning of the month. While I'm waiting for her to post a fishing report I thought I'd share a few pictures from the wedding (with a bit of pressure from Donna!) After the wedding we spent some time in Airlie Beach and also Brisbane/Gold Coast. Cheers, Wellzy
  7. Yeah mate. Chunks of mullet fillets also work pretty well for flathead, and I put the frames into crab traps too. Cheers, Wellzy
  8. I actually saw a video on Facebook recently of a guy who built a small hut in the forest using clay roof tiles that he made himself. By the looks of it, the tiles were 100% clay. He built everything from scratch, from the axe to cut down small trees for the frame of the house, to the clay furnace for cooking (and hardening the tiles). It was fascinating to watch! Cheers, Wellzy
  9. I find that regardless of what type of leader you're using, you get more bites on smaller diameter line. That being said, I can't fault Berkley Vanish at all, best leader I've ever used. Cheers, Wellzy
  10. If you're interested in blackfishing, Neil, maybe @Stapo and @RUT could lend a hand. They helped me get my first blackfish at the Entrance! Cheers, Wellzy
  11. My lunch break at work consists of eating as quickly as possible to play as many games of ping pong as possible! Haha. Cheers, Wellzy
  12. Good on you guys! I've done barefoot bowls a few times, and I found it really enjoyable Cheers, Wellzy
  13. I'm happy to show you some spots around Yarramundi and Penrith, if you'd like! Cheers, Wellzy
  14. I work around the corner from Toongabbie creek, aiming to get some lunch break sessions in once the weather warms up. Cheers, Wellzy
  15. Hi Barkley, welcome to Fishraider! I can't help you with Manly Dam. However I've caught plenty of carp from the Nepean River. I fish at night with the same method, usually at Yarramundi. Cheers, Wellzy
  16. Nailed it, Royce. Always good to get out and change things up a bit! Cheers, Wellzy
  17. A heads up when you're pumping nippers - Don't just pump once at a set of holes, and move on. Pump 2-3 times, and if you get any nippers, pump that same spot a few more times. The most success I've ever had pumping nippers is 6-7 times in the one hole, and the last pump (Real deep in the sand, with a partially collapsed tunnel network they use to travel below sand) I bucketed 12 nippers on the final pump alone. P.S. Welcome to Fishraider! Cheers, Wellzy
  18. Hey Royce, I haven't heard anything recently, but if I do I'll let you know! Hoping to get a morning fish in this Sunday so I might see a few if they're about. Sorry again about missing my last day out with you! Was really crook overnight, spent Sunday and half the work week bedridden. Cheers, Luke
  19. I appreciate the offer mate! It's not for a long while, my partner's agreed we can go for a week in January 2019 for my birthday. Just looking at ideas for rod storage to get sorted before then! I've been considering getting a 3-4 piece travel rod for a while, this may definitely be a good selling point to bargain further with the boss. Cheers, Wellzy
  20. If you're worried about breaking your rod, check the cast weight. Make sure you're not overloading your rod casting lures that are too heavy for the rod! Cheers, Wellzy
  21. Seems like PVC tubing is the way to go. Thanks guys! Cheers, Wellzy
  22. Some cracker fish mate, well done! Cheers, Wellzy
  23. Hey raiders! I'm in the very early stages of an NT trip late next year. I've got some friends in Darwin that I also plan to visit, but figured I'd have a crack at the fish up there while I'm visiting. However I'm a little concerned with the idea of packing fishing gear into my luggage - Have any raiders done this before? What's the safest way to store fishing gear in luggage? Cheers, Wellzy
  24. I know a few people that catch so many redfin in a few hour session at Lyell that they hate looking at them by the end of it. Needless to say there are a fair few in there. Cheers, Wellzy
  25. Thanks PEARLY. I assumed that was the case! Usually a fish that length will weigh a bit over a kilogram, and it was only 0.64! A quick happy snap, and back into the water The redfin wasn't nearly so lucky. Cheers, Wellzy
