  1. good chance hopefully we have better season this year..rick
  2. im at gorokan..we fish for everything from blackfish to marlin..give me a yell when you come up..only to happy to help other raiders..rick
  3. the trend to put smaller 4st motors is definitely because of the weight difference...the four strokes develop a different power curve to the 2st motors...a mid range 4st will get the hull on the plane and hold it on the plane at lower speeds than the same size 2st as they develop their power at higher revs...when I looked ar repowering my vsea I had to work out power/weight/fuel consumption to suit my hull..i had a 60yammie 2st.same weight as 70 2st..if I went to a 704st I would have added thirty kilo..no more power no more speed only better consumption...I went 90hp 2st..12 kilo heavier.but massive gain in usable power...jurys still out on consumption as I havnt been for decent trip yet but im thinking same or only slightly more as I use heaps less revs now to do a comfortable cruise speed...it leaps out of the hole and doesn't die off the plane on the back of swells in a working sea.....horses for courses is the old saying....my mate just repowered with 135 yammie 2st..he saved $6800 on the 4st he was looking at....that's a lot of fuel you can buy for that saving...if you find a good hull you like try it on the water and see how it performs with the motor that seems underpowered..it may suit your needs...rick
  4. congrats jon..days like that with family are gems..rick
  5. awesome work swordie...nice lookin fish..rick
  6. had another guy ask my lowest price so I deducted a dollar havnt heard back.????
  7. yous guys are too nice..i would have run to montague to give them a SWIM with the seals...bahahaha..rick
  8. a short length of thirty or forty as shock trace will suffice for kings..if they are there anchor up so your twenty mtrs upcurrent from beacon start some burley and fish free swimming livies jigs and surface and sps work as well put one livie straight under boat with reasonable size sinker and lift 1.5/2.0 mtrs off bottom ..you never know when there are big kings deep or jew..rick
  9. jealous sittin here with man flu..wish I was out doin something...congrats stewie and deano..rick
  10. u can catch livies in near the adolphe wreck on the outside of stocko wall..there is a red beacon visible about 3 mile nth in a straight line with the breakwall..its known as nth reef..kings hang round the beacon..the majority of the reef is inside the beacon..reds trag bream tailor bonnies...hope this helps..rick
  11. hey neil freshwater catties are known as tandanus tandanus...alias tandans..rick
  12. mate there are a few decent priced seafarer vseas on the usual for sale vendors..i might be bias cause I own one..but saying that they are one of the best handling 4.8 boats ever made...have a look you might like...rick
  13. seen the new boat heading down freeway earlier in the week looks like a great setup for fishing..hahaha...rick
  14. yeah I put it in for a good price 2/3 what every other motor of that vintage is selling for then they tell me halve that..i may end up storing it in the shed and keep it in case someone I know needs a motor...the moron that upset me the most I sent him a msg with a new lowest price..$1.00 less than original..havnt heard back..thanks for the replies guys and girls its good to know im not the only one getting picked on...rick
  15. not them bloody seals...I hate them..rick
  16. im trying to sell my old faithful 60hp yammie on gtree..some of these lowballers make me wonder...one guy said think of your lowest price then halve it...offers of 500 bucks are an insult..it costs 600 for a lower gearcase...without a prop then there is a good running motor with 130psi all cylinders....these morons are doin my head in ..im not even responding to them now...rick
  17. if a boat is that unstable I wouldn't buy it...rick
  18. thanks for the offer dave..im gonna try and go to mates at eungai rail in a few weeks..il let u know when we are comin...cheers...rick
  19. 5.2 and 5.6 yellowfins had issues with nose fiving and broaching the 6 and 7mtr wernt as bad they had a very fine angle bow and if driven hard in following seas could bury the nose easy..for the fishing you have mentioned it would probably suit as you stated outside on nice days..rick
  20. there is large schools of Swansea and Newcastle at the moment..mainly mack tuna..plenty of bait with birds everywhere..rick
  21. you can fish for and keep bass in impoundments and the rivers above them..the closure on bass pertains to breeding stock which travel from fresh to brackish to breed.they need 17% or more salt or they cant breed..fish in dams cant breed so they are not under the closure...rick
  22. not sure of model name..its the smaller brother of the Bahia mar.6.0mtr...pride Bertram and carribean made the same boat..Raymond c hunt designed hull..very seaworthy hull..the 70f/s should push it ok they have different power output to a 2stroke...I would ask to take it for water trial...rick
  23. its a 4.8 vsea..the 60 is same motor as 70..both 44.1kw..70 revs 500rpm more..i could fish 3 blokes no prob still cruise on 22knots..the 90 will give me more grunt when travelling in bad following sea..easier to climb out of a trough and maintain speed...imo always try for more power than less..you don't have to work your motor so hard ..I had the 60 cause I bought boat for bargain price..i pikd up 90 for good price so couldn't knock it back..rick
