  9. generally with bibbed diver lures if lure is veering one direction bend the eye on lure slightly toward the direction its going ..are you using a clip of any type or trace straight to lure..rick
  10. hey baz my mate has gone up to fish near sisters this arvo..if he rings with news of reds later il post it..rick
  11. ps boat shows on next week ..go have a good hard look at whats available..you might find something that takes your eye..also that give good deals at the show..rick
  12. weight in a hull is a good thing especially in a working sea your hull wont lift and bang as much heading into a chop..my mate that fishes with me all the time has a 5.5 stessl striker but prefers to fish in my 4.8 vsea glass boat..better ride more comfortable and cheaper to run...I have a 60hp yammie he has a 130hp yammie...generally a glass boat in the same size as alloy will ride better be quieter to fish in when at anchor and you don't have to worry about stray hooks or sinkers that disappear causing electrolysis in your hull....my thoughts but everyones different in what they want..in a perfect world with flat comfortable seas a tinnie is fine but I fish a lot in ordinary conditions and love my little vsea for its ride and handling..our group that all fish together laughingly call tinnies bang bang boats for a good reason give me glass any day..rick
  13. bugger now im droolin..have to defrost some snapper fillets for tmow night now...rick
  14. don't worry new signing its good to have a crack at it..thers heaps come up on here ive never seen and im 55 and fished and speared all my life...some of these emperor and sweetlip are normally caught a long way north of here..ive caught them at Swansea and port stephens..cheers rick
  15. sombre sweetlip usually red in the mouth..rick
  16. I own an extra cab rodeo that used to be a paddy wagon..i had issues with springs inverting so I built some stoppers..i will put foto up later..i have also had to weld cracks on the chassis so I know how easy it is for this to happen..im a fencer so I carry plenty of loads common sense says put it as far forward as possible...ps.I HATE SPEED BUMPS...rick
  17. you can anchor up with the crowd in esmerelda or use coal shaft bay on southern side or little cove tucked in eastern end of longest beach on north side...depends which way the wind is blowing..i sleep in my boat up there all the time..throw second anchor so you don't drift if wind changes..others have woken up on the beach..rick
  18. current runs too hard in channel next to rocks and you don't want to be near north wall over last 400mtrs as its a break zone on entrance bar..go out in line with cardinal markers and drift for squid between heads and moon island there should be other boats so watch where they fish...rick
  19. fab...where do you keep finding these gems..yow that's not good...rick
  20. twin hulls work better with air in the tunnelonce you get over 5.6mtr..under that most are average..websters run singles but are expensive if you can find one..i fished for many years in 18ft shark cats 20ft broadbills 26ft brdbll..6.omtr dominator 7.0mtr dominator..i like cats..they are designed to use air and water pressure in the tunnel to give b etter ride..unfortunately I have had the experience of being caught in a sea that was so rough we couldn't get up and travel..sooo we were virtually dead in the water..only my opinion but stick with a glass vhull 5.5/6.0mtr with adequate power and you will have less costs..dramas ..maintenance...there are heaps to choose from..seafarer cruisecraft haines Yalta etc etc...if you are confident on the ocean you can go smaller..i have 4.8 vsea and run to shelf off here 30 nautical mile..fads 12 naut mile seal rocks 20 naut mile lots to consider so read what other frs say as everyone thinks differently..thats why fr is so great...rick
  21. if you drop your canopy you should fit under no worries..go thru the span north side of opening...rick
  22. I fished for cod two weeks ago.slightly dirty water overcast day.every expert says dark lures for these conditions but we could only get fish on bright lures go figure..rick
  23. we have been getting good bream off wyee pt..sit 100mtrs out from tree line on edge of shallows there are marker posts as you head south toward pt .left is shallow right is deeper...right on dark best time...good tailor have been getn caught trolling deep divers north of Wangi round fishing pt and further north..there are still good blue swimmers getn caught mates at our weighin on sunday had some crackin big males .7kg weight..rick
