  2. hey berley guts I run an older 2stroke 60hp yammie on a seafarer vsea 4.8...average trip to broughton with some running round and I fish the northern side most times I use 30/35 ltrs average...depending on how much you run round up there I would say you should have plenty..if in doubt take a ten ltr container with you as I think you would prob only use 25ltrs for my normal trip..etec 60 should use heaps less than mine...rick

  7. the 3 and 4 units have small rectangle screens the 5s have square screens easier to read and use..rick
  8. yeah regan they are a combo you can have either or both on screen....I have two hds5 units in my vsea and im goin to use the combo in my yak as I have spare trans and my power is set up with plugs so I can change quickly...my units are set in a board in boat so I have spare mounts for the yak...I will silicon my trans in hull near hatch so its not under hull as I crash paddle over logs in my fave creeks..keep an eye out for a used unit in a hds5 or elite5..rick
  9. I have a spot locally where I get bream over 45cm all the time.but to see the numbers up there is eye opening..just to be able to watch them an feed them is awesome.....rick
  10. probably the best feed you will get ..luv them little makos...at least at that size they are fairly easy to handle...good day out by all accounts .nice weather nice feed nice one...rick
  11. the rope caught on lure was probably cut off by someone who got it caught round their own prop..it happens..rick
  12. they are excellent bait for tiger sharks...just the smell of them turns me off trying them...rick
  13. went for a walk round dalbora marina nelson bay yesterday..wow..there are so many fish in the NO FISHING area..bream pushing two kilo..blackfish the same.huge whiting.but the best was a flathead laying on the sand rock edge at your feet that was easy 1 mtr..another little one was 5 feet away it was 85cm..8ft of clear water and the bream love eating bread or chips thrown to them...my casting finger was twitching the whole time....I must have looked like homer simpson standing there going aaarrrrgghhhh....drool....rick
  14. good stuff ..great report im envious..rick
  15. your becoming very artistic scratchie..rick
  16. just got home had two short sessions 1 tailer and 1 dropped flattie..was too interested in drinkin to spend too much time..lots of weed in shoalie...wish id taken boat sat was a cracker day..back up there soon then the snapper better watch out..rick
  17. heading for shoal bay for the wknd..missus booked us into the caravan park for my bday..sneaking a flick stik in and give the flatties a go along shoalie tomorrow...hope they are hungry...rick
  18. try a few different knots and see if it still does it ..not good considering if you stayed connected to your lures longer you may have lost a good fish to bad line..hope they replace it for you mate..rick
  19. jim I have a spot off Newcastle fifty mtrs off the rocks in thirty feet of water and I don't start fishing there till ten in the morning..i dived here for years and used to see heaps of jew and good reds in mid morning dives...its shallow reef straight onto sand and I have half a dozen spots like it..im sure the same happens at many locales up an down the coast...I dived boat harbour below kurnell a few times and seen reds there in forty ft of waterso don't be scared of shallow spots in daytime...rick
  20. congrats to both of you..well done..rick
  21. aaahhh seascapes...blew up six of the beastly things..then came speedmasters yaayyy......havnt had to do the nail polish for a long time...but it works...rick
  22. Take apart and paint nail polish on lip of spool to build up diameter takes a few layers but works
  23. sooooo aerial scoping of possible snags....no wonder you find the cod.......bahahaha
  24. most ropes end up sinking after being in water for a while..i do a fair bit spearing and chasing crays and find heaps of anchors..most times I leave them near boat ramp for whoever piks them up....I use very specific anchors so I don't keep any....the amount on some bait grounds would amaze you...hope you can get yours back..rick
  25. plus one on retrieving from inside boat..12mm rope from bow back into boat attach anchor rope thru loop..when pulling anchor in I just drive past float wait till float hits chain then stop pik up rope laying next to boat turn round and idle back along rope...no pulling no weight and I don't leave the helm in my boat..so very safe..no hatch bulls@#t..no waves over the bow no water in your cabin....depending on style of anchor how strong is the winch setup if you have to try and drive your anchor off a reef ???..rick
