  1. nice one what area are the caves ive never heard of them..rick
  2. listened to ccgf skeds today not many marlin a few sharks with one boat still fighting at 5.30...port stephens boats raised a few out wide but guys were complaining water was too hot wide of carpark and were heading in closer looking for cooler water..reports of 26.8/27.2 off the shelf...water is 23.5 up near big gibber so little blacks should be showing now..hope to go up wed/thur..tomorrows skeds should be interesting...ch 80 if your on the coast..rick
  3. wow..the references to large snapper in lake mac with a school from the heads to pelican blows your mind..also schools of large mackerel in broken bay and Sydney harbor..maybe Spanish or spotties ??..also reference to plague proportion leatherjacket of the large yellow type...interesting reading to say the least..wow...rick
  4. if im not wrong its a pike not a snook..there are two species locally long and short finned pike..thats a shortfin..rick
  5. hi neil..yeah they are the fmj from tassie..cheap but effective..orange was goin off as well as green yellow..water had a bit more colour than normal...the surface luring was unbelievable..i caught three fish standing in the one spot..and missed multiple boofs..we have been told there are larger fish in the still water we fished but we didn't catch any this trip..hopefully next time..
  6. the knot itself may be stronger but the line is still only 6lb...so wots the point when a good uni knot is about 97 % knot...if you use 50% drag your only pulling 3lb so therefore you should never break a knot...me thinks too much thinking...rick
  7. just seen foto of 166kg blue weighed on xmas eve out of port..their out there..rick
  8. on swivels and hooks I use either a locked half blood knot or a 4 turn uni knot..never have failures with either..rick
  9. a small tip that I use is short ;5/6mm of plastic tube that is used in fly screens and run a piece between sinkers and swivels and the float and swivel..i also use tube with running sinkers to a swivel as lead sinkers hitting your knot will wear it and cause breakage..the tube stops this...rick
  10. just bought a pair of talisman sandals..copy of kaydees..on ebay size 10 ....freaky after just discussing them and trying to find them on my dumbputer a pair popped up on fleabay of all places...rick
  11. some of my spots I fish 14ft deep so a running rig is necessary..i use a small bead above my float and use two small lengths of nylon tied on as stopper knots..you can slide one easily but the two together are very hard to move.just wet them and slide one at a time
  12. yeah I cant find any info but it flows into the colo so it might be a search trip when the seas are too big,,rick
  13. only the first for the season ..ive caught hundreds over a lot of years chasin them..they still thrill me watchin them smack surface lures or grabbing a hb at your rod tip...rick
  14. we use one in the boat all the time..a small high sided wok and snags an bacon are the go...rick
  15. hi raiders ..does anybody know if there are fish in the upper reaches of capertee river...google shows large volumes of water but ive never heard it mentioned..??????
  16. could be a bit difficult if you have rollers like 95 percent of boats have..you only need two inches of hull with st/edge or level....Stephan lower or raise motor till cav plate on motor sits parallel with said st/edge..measure height above or below if badly wrong...then a resolution to your problem can be sorted..rick
  17. haha I must be talkin in Egyptian again
  18. so at 54 ive been promoted to stinky greenhorn bahahahaha
  19. if you want to send a bait deep attach with a 64 rubber band and a snapper lead to the trace side of your swivel
  20. lower the motor so the cav plate is levl with hull
  21. engines normaly need to be raised 25mm for every 30cm back from normal i notice yours is half pod so your cav plate should be 25/30 mm above hull level
  22. lower your engine to running height and lay a level or straight edge from under the bottom of hull to your engine..me thinks your cav plate is slighty lower or dead level with your hull if lower you can raise...the water leaves the hull and rises slightly as it flows back towards your motor..engines on pods have a large prob with this as they need to raise their motor higher than normal..check your height then let us know
  23. by the way no fish were harmed in the making of this report hahaha
