  1. the ramp in the river is very good..you have to contend with the bar..i can beach launch my vsea with 4x4 at gaol if river is wiped out..keep an eye on seabreeze for swell size and check conditions on surfcams..rick
  2. call me old fashion but I find it easy to flick a switch and watch the water pour from the hose..also it saves having to start and travel to get rid of water...maybe the question should be where is the water coming from ?????
  3. im trying to go to crowdy or swr in two weeks dependent on water and reports...trolling livies around mermaid reef can be awesome when the fish are there..ive caught cobes and spotties on the shoals 3 or 4 miles straight up from crowdy heading north...there is good broken reef in front of diamond head and you can troll livies in close as well..rick
  4. I launch my 4.8 vsea solo all the time..so if you have kids helping it should be easy..three or four people and you will appreciate the room...rick
  5. if I have read correctly the bungs are designed to work from outside..so if you mount internally it will let water in as it will be under pressure..over the years ive seen many types of self draining systems and have never seen one that works 100% of the time so in a 5.4mtr boat mount a bilge pump as far back and and central as possible..as you mentioned you were going to remove the bung from inside I would assume you have access...rick
  6. 5 mtr seas is not the forecast I was hoping for....the little blacks were biting just nth of broughton earlier in the week...maybe it will drop for next weekend..rick
  7. good stuff..another angler bitten by the cod bug..start saving for more lures.bahahaha
  8. hear hear back to what happened offshore today...any takers I had to work..doohhh..rick
  9. I had a stebercraft with an inboard and my alternator died and drained my battery when about 5 miles from Swansea heads...things happen...I then installed second battery..but even then it would prob only run dry after half hour anyway without alternator pumping power into the system...wires can wear through..terminals can break off batteries..motors can seize..the list goes on....if one thinks you are in a position where you need help and nothing else works then your epirb which you have to carry by law in case you break down or are in danger should be used..why else do we pay so much money to buy the bloody things if you shouldn't use it...discretion is up to the individual...if I had no fone recptn or radio and no other boat in sight with seas rising I think I know what I would do...rick
  10. after gamefishing for years in many different boats..glass and alloy ive never found an alloy boat that is close to glass I fish with a mate at the moment in a 20ft Bahia mar with duoprop diesel and two others with 6.0 and 6.5 allys...the old pride leaves them for dead..trim tabs make boats this size better but the allys don't compare..everyone has plus and minus sides to compare the two but it will come down to towing weight launching areas maintenance power options and price..try a few types of hull before you rush in and buy you may be surprised at what you end up with..rick
  11. I may be dumb but aren't epirbs carried in case you break down and cant contact help...daahh
  12. just tried my hds5 and put cursor on exact cords of your screenshot and I don't have anything showing there..???? anyone else ??
  13. your contours have been turned off in your chart settings..check settings menu..rick
  14. lizzy beach can be dicey if there is any swell from the nth..not a good beach for launching unless your competent at it...if you get out alright there is usually bait right on the point at seagull rock..the nth west point before you go round the front of charlotte head..if no one is lbg fishing round the front of charlotte you can go in close to the rocks and catch bait there...there are large areas of reef straight out the front from 30 mtrs to 60 mtrs...rick
  15. very solid spear..nice to hear so many were tagged...I eves dropped on the skeds from home...not many small blacks for this time of year...hopefully you can nail a blue soon..rick
  16. a fixed constant light can and will attract small baitfish which attract bigger fish or squid but a bright light being turned on and off or flashed around usually spooks fish..ive had people do it to me and I am usually rude and abrupt with them..but that's me and I don't recommend this action for everyone...sometimes discretion is needed in ones approach to morons..on the other hand you could always buy a bright light and shine it in their eyes and let them experience night blindness..haha must be the mean streak in me...rick
  17. get the gun pa.hahahaha................idiots that don't know better..sometimes its best to move away..rick
  18. nice spearfish boys...hope you get some more...rick

  23. fished the island on Saturday plenty of slimies inbetween the sisters...bait just about everywhere we fished...plenty of squid over the weedbeds in coalshaft bay..rick
  24. yeah never had so much trouble...got dusted by some bigger reds ..fishing pretty rough ground,,,but the amount of sharks was out there...hopefully bak up in a fortnite and the water might improve..then its game on ..if you go up scratchie nth side of nth isl covered in bonnies...sisters holding plenty of slimies..rick
