havnt tried fg yet ..I use Albright 12 turns down then 4 back up over top never had failure..leader length depends on what and where you are fishing for..
-
we got a dozen squid sun arvo drifting in front of murrays jetty ..small yamashitas are the go..flatties are just startin to move shallower ..enjoy your dinner date lol
-
we fish out of my mates pride Bahia mar they are 20 ft but are one of the best handling and riding I have ever fished out of we run a 160hp Volvo diesel duoprop and its fuel efficient and has heaps of grunt..another to lookout for is the Bertram 23 with diesel...I wouldn't touch petrol in this size unless they are fourstroke outboards..

4 and 5 inch soft plastics in natural colours or nuclear chicken squid viscious are the go on flatties ..we got fish up to 75 last weekend and lost a 95 cm beside the boat...rick

depends on your bait size but iwould use 200/250 lb trace with multi strand at the front joined by ball bearing swivel crimped with thimbles....burley bags and assorted add ons are a recipe for tangles and bustoffs ...kiss..keep it simple stu...learn how to cut baits open and hide the hooks then sew back together with just the points exposed...most guys working of the beach don't use floats...good luck

seafood shops or learn how to catch fish lol
-

old story boil with a brick...when soft eat brick
-
definitely a barracouta ..gemmies are a lot heavier build as you can see from the foto...you normally wont catch gemmies in less than 350 mtrs of water

until gamefish aust banned the use of mammal flesh or blood many years ago...I fished out of lake mac for many years chasing bities..we used a mix of chicken mince ..fish mince..fish frames chunks or thrown out pieces of chicken from chook farm....some guys prefer mullet or salmon put thru berley pot..we used mince in bags as its quieter..we fished one bait weighted nearly on bottom and two baits on floats in slick..everyone does things differently...I have since gone to the gentlemanly art of marlin fishing...bahahaha

we use to run to lord howe for respite from weather but commercial boats arnt allowed to make landfall at the island so we just sat in the lee from the wind...taupo has kingies that nudge 45 kgs..there are fish that you will never match anywhere else....I caught broadbill up to 150 kg while drifting near taupo overnight waiting to dropline next day..live squid 80lb braid and sore muscles..i would go there again in a heartbeat..anybody got a big boat and the kahunies to go ???im in pm me PLEASE...RICK

hang em high

you need to wind the line off onto your spool either clockwise or anti clockwise so it matches the rotation of your spool..if you wind it on with spool spinning you are putting a twist into your line..same applies when fighting fish for extended periods as line comes off straight under drag then gets twisted back on by rotation of reel rotor...rick

pretty sure kristy or wotever her name is..is hunts daughter

I worked for a few yrs on a longline boat from port stephens..I have fished barcoo/taupo/derwent hunter seamounts and believe me they are eye openers...if you want kingies better than 30kgs..bass grouper that are just huge ..blue eye over 30kg and others too numerous and too big..too far for trailer boats but there are a lot of boats up an down the coast that are quite capable of a weeks run out there..????just a thought
