  1. Hi Raiders, I recently purchased my first boat (soon to be named the "SS Drought Breaker", with any luck once it's finished). The boat is in fact a small 3.9m DeHaviland Mustang, I think circa 1984 with forward controls. The problem I currently have is trying to work out what to do with the windshield? It was in average condition but it has suffered a couple of stress fractures & a triangular chip about 3 inches. My questions are: 1, Can I mend it / should I bother? 2, Where can I buy a molded one piece of perspex or does anyone know a place that does replacement boat windscreens? 3, is Perspex hard to mold ? 4, Should I S-can the whole lot & start again making the windscreen in 3 parts (sides & front) which means making the extruded alum frame & modifying the bimini to fit? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Jas
  2. Thanks mate you're a champion I didn't want to get stuck there overnight with the car...
  3. G'day Raiders, Hoping someone might be able to help me out in regards to Davidson Park, Roseville. I wanted to drop the tinnie in at the boat ramp there today for an afternoon fish. I have now been told two things : 1, the boat ramp & park will be closed at 6:00 pm or 2, the park closes but the boat ramp is open 24 hours ? Neither are completely reliable sources so, Does anyone know which is correct? I would really apreciate any advice or if you know of another ramp round that area would be great. Thanks The Drought.
  4. Elwood Blues & I will be heading up to the hawks for an early start on fri night/saturday morning....
  5. I have to agree with the guy's, you can snag a dominant trout in very small waterways. a thing of beauty as they play hard. Jas
  6. Seperate forums sounds like a great idea As a LB fisho & new to raider-hood, I found I was going through a lot of reports which turned out to be about boat fishing great places that I couldn't get to. Seperate forums would make it so much easier to find the reports your after. J

  8. Believe it or "FishDrought" is very appropriate - unfortunately
  9. That is bloody beautiful mate!
  10. We were thinking tonight after Elwood gets off work maybe round 1-2 am till after day break if we get sick of it.. Not sure if that time suits anyone?
  11. We are pretty much novices round here too, though we did have a bit of luck at woolies bridge - Narrabeen. A nice little flattie drifting down from the bridge & there is some lovely whitting there but they don't seem to like my company! Malacoota Pete is a legend when it comes to Narra & is happy to give out advice for the area onya Pete. We have never tried the manly area before but driving through on the weekend, it look like a possible goer for us land based fisho's. Will PM you with contact details & if you don't get a better offer or find a better place give us a buzz. Jas
  12. G'Day Mate, Elwoodblues (Davo) & I were thinking of giving one of the folowing a bash: Balls Head, Lavendar Bay or round the bridge up at Manly, but the idea of bit beach fishing sounds good too. Where abouts are you thinking of? Cheers Jas
  13. Awesome catch mate. Stuff the office for a catch like that. Hell even I would have thrown my cap into the ring to be on that trip. much better than the day at work haha What weight did the largest go? Well done again.
  14. Congrats Stephen, It is a very tidy looking boat, hope you enjoy floating round Windamere while there is still some water in mate. some decent sized yellow belly have been taken near limestone creek. Just watch the drop off from the bottom of the boat at ramp at the Rylstone end . Best of luck .
  15. Thanks Pete, I appreciate all the info I can get! I might get the tow bar fixed up & then hire one of Darrens boats for a try. Jas
  16. Geoff I love ya! My cousin & I have had a raging battle over the movie final conflict & no video store attendant has ever been able to work out the title for us! We had it mixed with the Phillidelphia experiment. Hahaha The last place I ever would have thought of finding the name of that damn movie! Go FishRaider !
  17. Cheers Zenman, Holden rate the tow package at 12-1300, The Astra is coupled to a 1.8 ltr & at $750 for genuine tow pack after market at Holden I am kicking myself for not adding it at purchase . But them's the breaks huh!
  18. Ok Guy’s I am looking for a confidence booster, I did for the first time in my life, leave the comforting arms of real sized cars & purchased a Holden AH Astra 5 Door Hatch (Not knocking the little car, it is a beaut & takes a heap of fishing gear). The problem is I now want a boat, just a little tinny nothing fancy maybe a 15 or 20 on the back, Herein lies the real life problems: 1, I have never used a little car to launch from a boat ramp – does anyone here have experience in this regard. I am concerned over having a car dragged in by the weight of the boat or slipping down the ramp? 2, I was considering welding in a pull thru extension bar to the trailer so I could get up to another 6 feet from the tow ball to the trailer, thus keeping the car higher & drier up the ramp? 3, Any suggestions for places to get a good quality tow bar fitted, So far I have been quoted between $350 to $750 due to there being some special harness required for the tow kit! I don’t want to end up with a bodgey job, i.e. the reason I am not doing it myself. 4, Any suggestion for size of Tinny/trailer considering the overall weight. Love to hear any suggestion or experiences from Raiders. Hope to meet some of you at Watto’s tonight. Jas
  19. Like Frizzy I think, Land based maybe round fig tree, also there is a jetty in Hunters Hill (I think the bottom of Mount St or ADY St - probably the latter?) produced a few nice bream, flatties & whitting though the whitting were just undersized. Its worth trying to flick a bait under some of the boats & a sp's through the shallows. Depending on weather I might try to wet a line up at Narra over the weekend & try for a feed of flatties. Best of luck Jas. ( Note to self, I really really really really really neeeeeeed to get a boat, a small boat - damn small fuel efficent cars!).
  20. War movie favourites in no particular order: Platoon, Apocoplypse Now, Bridge over the river Kwai, Black Hawk Down, - The book is better but a good movie none the less Saving Private Ryan, We Were Soldiers, Full Metal Jacket (some of the best movie qoutes ever!) Odd angry shot, The Great Escape, The Dirty Dozen, Gallipoli, Breaker Morant, Cheers Jas
  21. Thanks for the reply & very handy info. I have a basic idea for the freshwater species, But I am less confident with saltwater fish ( not that I catch enough large size breeders or any to be honest - to worry lol). Just hoping to find away to avoid filleting a good sized hen. Thanks again for the help. Jas
  22. Hello people, what a glorious day to be out fishing, the harbour looks beautiful & yet here I am stuck at work! Does anybody know the quickest way to discern a male fish from a female fish? just asking so as to reduce the time & stress on breeding females that are taken out of the water? Cheers Jas
