  1. WTF??? You refs take things a bit too far even when you get home!!!
  2. It's only a kayak i scored super cheap from Kingfisher Cam (BIG thanks mate). The gel coat is lifting, and without a major strip back, i recon even resin will still crack and lift again. It's just a dolly up to get my young bloke out bassin in somthing he can be proud to own. ???? any implications to glass over bog later???? Thanks for the reply. Lata Raidas. Waynie.
  3. Great read, great fish. Can't wait to read more of your posts. Lata Raida. Waynie
  4. Thats! Huge!!! Just too hard to fathom what the fight would have been like from a yak. Can't wait too see the pics, and no shame in keeping it, better in the freezer than all the dead marlin that the divers have seen lying on the ocean floor in seasons gone bye. I think i'll start with big carp from the yak first, but then again you wont catch me out there in a yak. I know how big the sharks are! Lata Raida. Waynie
  5. Hey Roffo, We launched from where you fish and headed back to the dam wall first, turned around a couple of bays short of the wall and went all the way back up to the top, we trolled two rods each changing lures now and again all day. We had a bait fish up the back with power bait, mudeyes and yabbies. We tried hard but....... Oh well it was good to be out there. And for Peter S Lake Lyell is at Lithgow, it is sign posted just as you get to Lithgow from the Sydney side. Not a big lake but very pictuesce and good fishing (normally). Lata Raidas. Waynie

  11. Hi Roberta, If you are refering to what the lil cobe took that is a bait jig intended for slimeys (yeah great fight). And you wouldn't catch me out there in a yak, too many sharks, Even seen a approx 5-7 ft one back in the river. Waynie

  13. G'Day Raiders, Here Comes A long report and a stack of photos. Well South West Rocks trip was a blast, even though my Marlin cherry remains intact. We were there for one week, Sea Rabbit, Spooled Again and myself, there was no Marlin around, bait was hard to find and the bar was just plain scary to a first timer, and the water temps from 28 - 19 within 2km in one day can't have helped. Day one we raced out to gather livies for a jew sesh. (Remora were fun) back in the river (it was to be our only "easy" bar crossing). I had two baits snaped out of the out rigger for no result, other than that it was just Sting Rays and picker Bream. Day two was a 4am start for a 5am launch, aboslutely peakin with anticipation. Got bait (it took a while) then Sea Rabbit was first on the board with a 5kg Yellow Fin on the down rigger, and bout an hour latter i scored my first ever Cobia just shy of 7kg. Poor Spooled Again had a Hammer head at the boat to get bitten off then a smokin run late in the day to get Sharked only getting back 3ft of a 6ft trace. The evening river sesh saw Sea Rabbit Get a nice Estuary Cod. . Day three saw the bay totaly void of detectable bait, so after floging a dead horse we set a spread and made for Fish Rock, this is when we saw the craziest water temps. From there out to the fad our skirts were not troubled. On arriaval at the fad we changed to hard bodies for an instant double hook up, only for both fish to throw the lure at the boat, nearly catapulting mine into Sea Rabbit's fore head. Switched to bait, no good, then to soft plastics and Spooled Again gets a lil one. We went back to Trail Bay with hard bodies most of the way, then to skirts to pick up the pace. We then managed to get our livies only to not lose a one. This was to be our last dry and not to bad day on the water weather wise. Day four or seen rain and the bar gettin plain ugly. Not so many fish boated, still got some good runs. But the only fish landed, and the fish of the trip went to Sea Rabbit with a nice 9kg Cobia. I'm sure this was the day that Sea Rabbit had a 40 min battle with a presumed Shark in the rain which killed the video camera for good. Day five we went out of back creek, due to the fact that Sea Rabbit could'nt negotiate the bar with his crew of comentators any more (i offered him to dong me on the head and wake me up once we were out there). On this day i got the most hard earnt catch. A 70+ cm Cobia on a bait jig while tring to get livies. Spooled Again finally put one in the boat with a nice shark that took a trolled livie. day five was once again rather ordianary weather wise, fishing was slow the whole trip, but this day had lots of runs and a lot to keep us on our toes, until the weather went really bad, Spooled Again had a Hammer Head that was determiand to get his livie, over and over til he got hooked in the eye. On this note while the down rigger was on the way up Sea Rabbit Made it a double hook up. Lil 3kg Yella Fin. Day six we were like we aint gunna get out There, we did but the weather gods sent us back with our tails between our legs, ON LOW TIDE!!! . made for a very bad bar crossing for Sea Rabbit, me n Spooled missed the whole thing as we were over the bow tring to keep the weight right. All in all South West ROCKS!! Here's some general pic's of firsts and stuff. Not too shabby. Stuff bar crossings. Lata Raidas. Waynie
  14. MMMMMMM, I can't express my jealousy with out getting BANNED! You rock Robbie, I just spent a week hoping for one of those bastards! Waynie
  15. That Was Probably Us, Got a bad run back in Back Creek after the wind got up. As a early report cause Kingies would be bustin to know 3 cobia, 2 yellow fin, and two sharks
  16. Hi Folks, The title basicaly says it all, just got back from one week up there with Sea Rabbit and Spooled Again. Day 1 water temps touching a massive 28 deg, took a run to Fish Rock to find 19 deg. By the end of the week most of Trial Bay was 23 deg. Bar crossings were heart in the mouth kinda stuff, no marlin caught while we were there, got one slimey bill wacked, heaps of sharks stuff all bait. I'll post a report on all the good stuff when i get the photos, most probably tomorrow night. We heard that the locals from SWR have been heading down to Port Stevens and going quite well. Oh well thats fishin ain't it, still had a great time. Lata Raida's. Waynie.
  17. Well Done I guess that will make the first show 'n' tell Lata Raida Waynie
  18. I am so gutted i had to turn this trip down due to my wifes photographic business. Your a lucky ba$^&d and a great asset and custodian of our river system. I recon your a pillar of the community, in fact i recon your a sheet and a bed spread too. This is pobably the best post youv'e made to raise the profile of the Neapean, FULL of carp (so they say) and still has Platypus. Great work bro!!! Lata Raidas. Waynie

  21. I don't know whos poem i like best. Well i supose Ceph's is a limerick but there both brilliant. I tell ya Fish Raider needs to have annual awards, i can just hear it now " and for the winner of the hard luck award for the second year running......."
  22. Well done on your first Dangles, But at least the only way from here is up. Think of all the pb's yet to come. My opinion get a purple baby vibe, it's this years fav for me (it rocks). Just to rub the perverbial salt, i got two 36cm + bass within 500m of the ramp couple of weeks ago with out even trying (in my kayak). So all you boaties just keep heading up the gorge and leave my bass alone LataRaidas Waynie
  23. I'd do somthing like that, maybe it's a kiwi thing. Definatly got a great shot. Gotta get me a underwater housing for the slr. Waynie
  24. Hi Mate, yeah it was in the side lagoon, i spose you would say it was the most south western one where there is a park seperating the two lagoons. We caught 5 between us for the few hours and i lost a HUGE eel near the bank due to i use 2kg trace. It truely was a great buzz for Jimmy and me, as most the dads here will know what i mean. Can't wait till it's #2's turn, Bryce spent his first day down the river aged 7 days. He's now 7 months and showing enthusiasim. Lata Raidas. Waynie
  25. Hi All, Decided to have a picnic / fish out at Richmond lagoons. We couldn't have picked a much hotter day for it, headed out there about 11am with shade tent, bbq, chairs, esky, push bike, frisbee and rods ofcoarse. Got it all set up with my son Jim nippin at my heels "is this my rod dad, when are you gunna put it out for me". Set him up two rods with bread and corn, out when a bit of burley and it didn't take long before his rod in the rod holder was peeling off line. I was first to the rod as he gets a bit distracted and can't sit in front of a rod, which was probably a good thing as the fish had took off around a willow tree. A little bit of steering with the rod saw the fish head to open water and handed over to Jim. I could tell it was a good fish for him and was gunna test him. So with me coaching "lift up, wind down" clearing the other rods and getting him darting back and for steering the fish away from the trees, saw a still very lively fish come to the bank. Every time i approaced it for a net shot it just took off again, which had the getting worn out fella groning and laughing. Finally the fish came to the net and it was high fives, big smiles and a round of applase from a group of on lookers. The fish was 63cm after that he got another at 43cm which was still a good fight but paled in comparison to his earlier battle. Hope the pics go up no probs cause now im late for work. Lata Raidas. Waynie
