  1. This post is a bit late but i have not had the time to post in weeks. June the 1st seen me out off Shell Harbour with Sea Rabbit and our skipper Spooled Again. We had a rough run out, and 20 min in to the cube all rods were hit with Sea Rabbit coming up solid on a nice fish only to have it jump towards the out board n ping! cubed on for nada. Had a troll back home and i had a fin crash my skirt while i was watching it , what a rush!. Also a couple of pics of some stripies all on lures we got during the way out and back in. Lata Raidas. Waynie
  2. all on rainbow power nuggets, and yep i was stoked to get ole loven kisses into a few.
  3. Gee I LOVE Lake Lyell, We got away a little later than hoped due to i had steped on 4cm of nail at work and also having a wicked flu ment the mrs was demanding no trip the the doc no trip. So sat mornin saw me loading the ute to the gunnels with gear, tinny, fire wood and more. Got to the lake at about 3pm only to find the spot i had hoped to camp taken by a bunch of rowdy but entertaining bunch of fellas on a boys weekend. So in goes the tinny to start hauling everything to the other side. Givin the wifes quite pregnant i had to do pretty much all the work with her doing as much as she could, i recon shes a bloody legend just for joining me. Didn't get set up til after dark so fishing was gunna wait til morning. We woke sunday mornin to a steady drizzle, but it just wouldn't be Lyell without it. I was joined by my now rugged up properly Mrs after the coffee had been made, and down to serious fishin now. The first twitch of the rod came at 7.30 then the other rod got a more positive touch at the same time i say to her ready ready NOW and she comes up solid to her first trout. I was a bit disapointed didn't jump for her but it went hard enough on 3kg to give her a good intro all the same. I was a bit nervous as i ready my self with the net but sweet as, strait in and a big goofy smile from the Mrs, a nice hen of 40cm brings a big cheer from the fellas on the other side. There was a few missed very tentitive bites there after and it wasn't till about 12ish that a rod buckels over releaving me from cooking lunch as a absolute beauty leaps into the air. Luckily it was a very slugish fight cause about 4m up from the fish ther was a big stick now caught up in the line, so i call for help from the Mrs only for the line to somehow get transfered from the stick to her finger as the fish jumped. Luckily all came sorted and i slid the net under this big buck rainbow 54cm. Choice! Was a bit quiet after that with a couple of about 30 cm fish realeased (they looked so small by then). At about 4.30 pm PJ Garn turn up to bunk in for the night, with all his stuff carted over it was around the camp fire with a port and a cigar to contemplate what all the poor pepole were doing tonight. Next morning saw the three of us keen as tending our rods for some very tentitive bites. Given things were a bit slow a couple of about 30 cm fish caught by my wife found there way to the esky. Around mid day PJ Garn andi went for a blat in the tinny only too return to see my Mrs holding the landing net aloft with another 40cm hen. With storys of how this one put on a good airial display and how the trace broke as she netted it in in near mid air we all got back to the job. A few small fish followed mostly to PJ Garn with him reluctantly keeping a 30cm fish. Pulled the pin about 4.30 tired, dirty but satisfied. Got to say it was the slowest old ducks birthday weekend i have fished but with all the small fish in the lake it holds good for the future if the water stays up. Lata Raidas. Waynie
  4. I'm sitting here with Toto under my arm clicking my red jandels together saying "theres no place like home". Welcome onboard n keep em coming. Lata Raida. Waynie
  5. We must have seen you at some stage, we were out there from shell harbour ramp in the seafarer "spooled". We didnt go out as far as some of the others or do as good, lost a est 20kg fish 20 min into the cube, didn't get another til on the troll back. Which was a lil 8.7kg yft and my first, smallest fish back at the ramp but you still couldn't wipe the smile off my face. Just waiting to get the photos off a mate so i can post it up. Lata Raida Waynie
  6. I'll be at the road bridge with Sea Rabbit in his centre console. Might see you there. Waynie
  7. Hi Dave! I felt so bad for you when we were up at SWR, only getin sharks when we were outside. Those fishin gods had to smile upon you some time hey! Good to see you gettin into em. You truly deserve it, and i hope to get that chance to fish with you again some time. But you know it's game on now and Brett and i are gunna have to try to top that out on the Hawks.......Yeah right! Lata Raida Waynie
  8. truck driver had been taking a very close inspection of his cargo.
  9. Oh How Excitement, I'd give my mums funeral a miss for this one. And i hope to get up there this weekend as it sounds a few other Raiders are planing like wise. This is gunna be the best social ever!!! Lata Raidas Waynie
  10. Top Stuff Dan, Just like that line from Ghost Busters, We Came, We Saw, We Kicked It's A$$. Waynie
  11. Double dorsal fin, no visible barbels, deep body ???? I say it ain't a carp, but what is it???? Which pond did it come from. We may be looking at another introduced nightmare, especialy if they don't even put up a good fight. Waynie
  12. Nah Pelican, Just surface but we worked the pot hard while the tide was turning. We tried alot of baits and presentations til we figuired squid strips were the go.
  13. NAH Byron, Maybe we were catching jew in flatty terrirory. Think out side the square jew boys. Waynie
  14. G'Day Raiders, Sorry the reports a bit late but my internet has been down. I went out on the Hawksbury on tuesday night with Sea Rabbit for a jewie sesh, and what a sesh we had. We arrived at our spot about 4.30pm just as the tide was starting to turn and hsd a bit of a play with lighter rigs til the run out tide picked up, but as soon as it did the skipper said, ok it's time to get serious. And with that out went the two hook 9/0 rigs. It was just on sun down by now and Sea rabbit had a nice flatty on board in short time. This was soon to be followed by a steady flurry of activity lasting a couple of hours where we landed about 2/3rds of our catch including my pb jew of 60cm (and i hope to better that soon) and my skipper a 76? (the esky lid only went to 70). Then came a quiet patch til the tide started to get to the end and then, it heated up again. In the end a great result with 5 jew and 6 flattys, but funny part was two photographers out for a fish and not one camera. we had to wait til we got back to my place at 12.30am to take photos hence ??hhmmm??. Mind you the Rabbit had to start work at 5.30am and me at 6.30am, fish came easy compaired to getting up for work hehe. Lata Raidas. Waynie.
  15. G'Day Chopper, Iwas up there recently with my good mate PJ Garn and i hope our report might help you or encourage you in some way. http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=30400 We fished a bit different to Stewy and the boys but did pretty good. If your new to this, i recon you can't go past the power nuggets. But use a small hook say #10 and make sure they float up. Good Luck. Lata Raida. Waynie
  16. GEE!! Ceph, You must have only skimed the post n looked at the pics GO BACK and read the funny part about Garn falling out of his yak. We did troll a bit in our yaks and i did get a nice fish "on the troll" but all in all trolling seems to be not that productive. But being mobile to go try other spots has it's advantages. I tell ya Raiders and veiwers we had a ball, my good mate and i aint been for a fish in a while. and what a trip we had adversity 'sleeping in the ute. rain, cold, busted cooker, ute got a bad oil leak, old mate fell in the drink (hehe), lost some good fish, wasting fishin time rescuing wantabe 4wdrivers. But if it went smooth it would not as been as good, Plenty of laughs and well earnt fish. Big thanks for the company Garn and lookin forwards to our next adventure. Lata Raidas. Waynie
  17. I've done somthing like that, but it was a reply to a mum of a couple of young swimers when we produced a 1m+ mako shark back at the boat ramp. But my best passenger (i should have just shut the f#@$! up) was mid way thru a swrocks bar crossing when i said do you know theres a 10ft wave right behind us. Sorry Sea Rabbit it will never happen again. Gee we had a good laugh after wards but " never dout your skipper half way thru a bar crossing". Waynie.
  18. I've got what i thought was a reasonable rain jacket till i spent a week away soaked thru every day. As long as it's not to windy, never under estimate the effectiveness of the cheap plastic poncho. Makes for a great backup when you find out your jacket aint that good.
  19. dunno what any of them are but i do love your brag mat. I'm gunna make a green one, just got 12 more to drink, should be done by the end of the day.
  20. Are you thinking what i think your thinking Mrs Swordie. A GOLF SOCIAL hell yeah i'd be in that, if it was to be and time suited. I prefer to play ambrose, at least you get to pick the best bad shot. and the presure is off, so you can have a good laugh at your self and each other. Lata Raidas, Waynie.
  21. Thanks for the replys all, Ross, I haven't had a chance to fix the yak yet, i just put some sml bolts in the holes and used it the way it was. when it gets patched up is going camo. I've got a cool idea which should look good. Jim wants camo so camo with a twist it is. Roberta, Yarramundi is a part of the Neapean, between Penrith and Richmond. Good access to the river and not as weedy as some parts, and not accessable to power boats so a good training ground for first timers. Hey Hodgey, The celta part was very ironic, the whole day was very cool, and yep what a great place to share it. Thanks for the reply. GARN!!!, I know he's mine but we gunna have to take turns at towing him. He's hooked on it but strugling a bit for our range of travel. The Rob Dawg i'll be in the same position one day. Lata Raidas. Waynie
  22. It's a shame that some pepole have made you feel that you make that post Boban. The site rules state you can not critisise legal captures. So much for "some" of these do gooders who marlin apparently swim away well, straight to the bottom were they die!
  23. Hi All, I took my young fella Jim down to Yarramundi on sat to try out the yak i got from Kingfisher Cam. It was his first go in a yak and after a hour or so tuition he recons its not as easy as it looks (he only weighs 18 kg so his yak sat a little high in the water, tracking was a bit hard to say the least) but he still had a ball with it. After he had a swim and a play we thought we might get into a bit of casting tuition, so i had a look in the lure box and settled for a celta green on gold, a sentimental favorite as thats what i started on. It was 11am and the sun was shining and i didn't like his chances of a fish. We had done a bit of cast practice before but not lures. Wouldn't ya know it, half a dozen casts in and he's on, and to prove it wern't no fluke a second came not long after. Now they were small, very small, but that was a huge step up for one little fisherman. On ya Alfalfa! I tell ya it was hugs n high fives from a very proud dad. After this i tied his yak off the back of mine and went about half a km to check out water dragons n stuff, and dad got a couple up near the rapids. Top Day! Top Day! Lata Raidas Waynie
  24. I thought i'd chuck this one in, it's called a Grinner and funny enough thats the name of the fish too! My wife says i remind her of Mater the tow truck from Cars the kids cartoon movie Lata Raidas. Waynie
  25. Thanks for the input fellas. I went to bias and found a tub of gelcote repair putty, cost $24.50 for 375g tin and should do the job just fine. I didn't thing car bog was such a good idea thats why i put it up for ??? I will post up a report on the tidy up with pics, even though i'm not going to go to alot of trouble with it, just a quick tidy up. But not today, gunna take it out the way it is for my young blokes first paddle Lata Raidas. Waynie.
