  1. OK i know i'm steping into dangerous teritory here but as i read this post my heart sank. Lets straighten one thing up first this IS NOT a carp thing, i'll touch on that latter. However such a negitive opinion about YOUR local fishing hole (and i don't mean just the fellas who have posted but the thousands of river uses that feel the same way)it is surely gunna see this STILL great waterway get get less respect and in turn get worse. This is in no way an attack on the post by Karnage (ironic name though hehe) but. *Where are you gunna go in Australia and not find flys and mozzies near water. *Not find snakes in the scrub (near water). *Find a river system that is not home to carp. *Park your car and be sure it will still be just as you left it. As for polution i've been fishing this river since 1978, and i say it's on the way back from the state of the early eighties, as for the rubbish left on the banks PJ Garn and i can only pick up so much (would love some help). Having a shot at Kingies T I D for wasting his time was uncalled for if you know the bloke. This fella spends a lot of time down OUR river and appreciates for what it STILL is. Even though he'd rather be out catching kingies he still knows a good thing when he see's it. So what i'm saying is, This is OUR / YOUR river it is how it is and it's still great. How we refer to our river will affect how others treat it, the gripes some of us have with the river are not exclusive to the Neapean. Not wanting to take away from Karnage's report (whoops probably too late) nice catch of a carp there and you must certainly know your stuff to get a catch like that. As for Carp they are here to stay like it or loath it. So let's make the best of what were stuck with. Ya wanna dong e'm ya wanna let e'm go, what ever ( nobody has been persicuted for releaseing one apparently, but i prefer mine fast asleep). And a very small round of applause of the british aclaimatisation society. Now as for bass i got 4 in 1.5 hrs last weekend taking a test paddle in the kayak, two stonkers and all within 500m of the boat ramp. Yeah its hard to get past the weed but they are back. and some of us are lovin it. Now i know we can all have days where we come home dejected and bit filthy about a certain patch of water but. We must realise that Fish Raider is now HUGE and that a negitive spin on OUR struggling waterway could only do it more damage. Now if you don't mind i think i need to be alone, Sorry if any of you think i dribbled on a bit but hey lets be positive and not damn OUR river to hell Lata Raidas. Waynie
  2. Thanks for the post mortem, i guess if the live bait tank was workin we may have tried to use yakkas as well as the frozen squid we had. Thanks for the heads up on what it took to get a king on the day lesson learned. We could see fish on the sounder take a look n turn away, knew they were there but fussy. Must have waved to many fellow raiders but not known you guys were raiders by the sounds of it. We were in a quintrex 475 centre console. Would be nice to get to meet more raiders but whats the bet the resceduled social will be when we are at sw rocks. Once again thanks for the replys, i guess we should have given yakkas a go. Thats what makes this a great site. Lata Raidas. Waynie
  3. I guess my king fish blank wasn't that bad, i'm glad i wasn't with you to have to witness that
  4. Hi Raiders, Sea Rabbit and my self still went for a fish on Sydney harbour today regardless of the social being cancelled. The weather conditions were not as bad as expected, but you've still gotta respect the admins decision givin the forcast 2 days before the event (i'm happy they thought my safety was more important than the social and all the effort people had put into it). But on the king fish front, none to be found any where. We tried all the markers east of the bridge trolling squid, trolled to middle head were conditions were a bit messy, scooted up just past the spit bridge and anchored up for the tide change, went further up river and trolled back where i picked up a unmarked mooring line, then back out to north head for a troll in pretty ordinary conditions and finally back to drift the squid around the markers again. No kings to be found, just a 41cm flatty which swallowed a 10/0 hook. So i say you didn't miss anything. There were a few boats out there and i didn't see any body do any good, so if any body got one let us know. I say it was a shut down or do we just suck at kingy fishin. Lata Raida's Waynie
  5. Nice poem PJ GARN, Quite possibly one of your best, i can feel another email to yaffa publishing coming on (PJ Garn had one published in the decemer issue of Fishing World). But whats happened to the "hey wana go for a fish" phone calls, last one i got from you was on the morning of my sons christening, the one you couldn't attend cause you had somthing on. Yeah thats right folks "nah sorry mate we got something on that day" and then the shilly sit rings with "hey ya wana go for a fish" . But we have been mates for near 20 years and he knows i don't mind and in fact was quite tempted to join him. But another great poem, the book couldn't be far away now. Lata Raidas Waynie
  6. Hi All, I took my kayak out for the first time this morning. I bought it off ebay a while back but hadn't had time to fix it or use it ( i had to replace the strip that joins the top n bottom together and seal it). Launched at the Tench res ramp and headed down river, after about 30-40 metres to get the hang of it (it was only gunna be a test paddle) out went the purple baby vibe ( that lure is a weapon) i decided to just troll it along and enjoy the paddle. About 50m later the rod sitting in my lap was loaded up, down paddle and grab the rod and into a lame kinda fight. I could feel head shakes and there was a bit of weight there so i started to asume i had a small bass with a bit of weed. But as it neared the yak it spoted it and then it was on! straight down under the yak one side to the other it was AWESOME!!! ( thats for Melissa). Once landed it shat on the yak so my yak is now called BASS TURD ( you know like bastard)i estimate it to have been about 37cm from reference points on the yak after that i proceded to land three more sml, med and one bout the same size as the first all within 500m of the ramp. But after about 1hr of this my ass was so sore from the seat in the yak i called it a day. So it's out back to design a coushin for my butt so the ride might be as good as the fishin next time. Sorry no photos i wasn't sure how wet it may have been, next time i'll take it though. Lata Raidas Waynie

  13. Way to go Shan! When you first posted about taking the centre seat out i didn't think it would work, but that bracing looks great and functional too. I've got a tinny that could do with somthing like that but i intend to up grade so i dont think i'll bother. Lata Raida. Waynie
  14. Hey Cattfish, Just about any fresh water will have carp in it, even the lakes they put in parks. If you could be more specific as to what part of Sydney you want to fish i'm sure sombody could direct you to them. Lata Raida. Waynie the Carpinator

  16. Hey Mr Garn, Good on ya for taking your Dad out for a fish, but i wish i was there to see Moby the great white Pommie go for a swim. That trolly looks the goods i think we could take a slab next time Great read mate. 18. As the Winner of the Manly Dam carp classic i think i would be an expert on this place, Nahh!!! no expert here, Just got it right on the day. We could only manage lil ones on the lure but i seen Mark 84 got a stonker bass. You can take a petrol power boat with in the ski boundries but it's only lecie or paddle outside of that. There is heaps of good bank to cast from. Hope you get a stonker. Lata Raida. Waynie the Carpinator
  19. Nice work, specialy the young fella. So why were you asked to move 20 metres ?????20 metres Lata Raida. Waynie the Carpinator
  20. G'day, Now i just have to clear somthing up " i dont like carp as a fish" I do love their fighting ability on 3kg gear. The Garn and i are like the odd couple. One a expat pommie carp lover who would like everybody to rethink how carp are seen in this country. The other a carp killin son of a ...... who would like to remove as many as he can. I'd rather see the natives have the lions share of our rivers. Did you notice the caring way in which we are holding the fish? We had to do that so as the photos were able to be shown to PJ's cuzzies back home. It felt weired The fighting ability of these fish will give any angler a work out. I recon some of you blue water guys would benifit from some pre season training. Hope PJ Garn gets some video sorted soon (i'm not so good at this tecno stuff) there is some good footage even though it was shot on a still camera. Great report mate, still on a high from our day wooo hooo! Lata Raidas. Waynie the Carpinator
  21. Hi Raiders, Yeah that turtle took a bread bait which is even rarer. Somthing that The Garn didn't mention was a lot of the rubbish was Korean products, I just wanted to mention that just on the off chance sombody knows them and could give them a gentle reminder that is just not on. You take it there, take it home and better still if you've got room in your rubbish bag take any rubbish you see. Great report mate. Lata Raidas Waynie
