  1. Yes I understand mate as I've stated "whispers".
  2. Beautiful jewfish mate well done! Thats it 1 per person, 70cm. I think it's great the size was increased from 45cm. was it because of commercial fishing? Because I've heard whispers recreational had a bit to do as well.. Cheers, Oz.
  3. Thank you very much Kev glad to see the same methods suggested by yourself. I get extremely frustrated when I see people catch fish then chuck it on the bottom of the boat and let it suffocate. This one time I saw this snapper and it's body was bent sideways from spazzing out. anway thank you very much everyone I really appreciate the advice, and most importantly I hope fellow raiders know how to or will continue to dispatch humanely.
  4. Estuary perch and Bass migrate to saltwater/ocean in winter to breed, awesome to see some in the ocean even though we are a long way from winter ❄️ Cheers, Oz.
  5. I'm with you there Toilor3000 even though the esky method is considered humane I personally don't think so.. ah I will now know a clean slice if it doesn't thrash, thank you!
  6. I have read that whacking the fishes head hard and in 1 clean "shot" to the ground stuns the fish and causes brain damage and then it dies essentially being numbed.. clubbing might require more then one hit and might be bit distressing. i prefer now a clean cut to the throat or gill as I will feel bad if I slam the fish and it's not hard enough for a clean stun. Cheers Oz.
  7. Give them a blankly there in for a long winter sleep!
  8. I think I'll go with the clean cut through the throat and gills as you've said, might op the ikijime later as I'm saving some money up! I've always worried when I do cut the gills and throat that I'll do it wrong and the fish will spaz out!!! Thank you very much Savit I will keep this for future reference.
  9. AH Yes the ikijime, the only thing is accuracy with this method because each fish's head varies and it would suck to not find the brain first go Ek!
  10. Ah right, yes I think the meat would be far too tough and leathery to consume at this size.
  11. Hi all, was just wondering what our fellow raiders do in terms of dispatching fish (humanely I hope lol). Have researched online but I know there's a few tricks here and there that some experienced fishos might use... Thank you in advance, I hope your all well and happy, have a great weekend. Cheers, Oz. 🍺😄🌊

It's always good to catch a few new mates to compensate the fishing, still sounds a like great time!
  14. Nice man, had one a few weeks ago for the first time and it was delcious! One of my favourite fish on the plate that's for sure.
  15. I did see some at my local fish market a few weeks ago... which is the first time ever I've seen them there in 2-3 years. you could be right about them bring abundant in the south coast.
  16. What do we think about the legal size of jewfish being lifted to 70cm? most of you already know most likely as it was changed awhile ago. i honestly think allot of species should be reassessed in terms of legal limits.

You probably already know sweetlip or can see lol! But fishing this weekend down at the south coast may be tough... (very windy) 💨 the wind should settle down early Saturday morning according to app. Cheers, Oz.
  18. That's sounds fantastic I will be trying this when I get my hands on some any salted added? This should be added to the recipes section as well if there is any, would be great for fishos to make use of this fish and do it justice.
  19. That's great news I shall definitely keep any legal ones I catch, as for the Mahi Mahi fingers crossed! Sure I would love to hear your recipe for them.
  20. I'd really love to target Mahi Mahi and red scorpionfish this summer!! ☀️🐬 🌊
  21. Thank you very much that is a thorough explanation of a complex topic. Ahh so there's also these key factors it's make sense now! Absolutely the ocean is a mysterious place, always great to be suprised
