  1. 1. Hey mate for number I can say that I went on a cruise not long ago and was at the wharfs at circular bay and darling harbour and while waiting for a "water taxi" a saw a group of bream near the docks. Big ones too about 9-10 of them. They looked really dopey and my father said that if we threw a line in they won't even care. not sure if they are even edible due to water contaminations in harbour. hope that helps mate, all the best! Oz.
  2. Haha a nice pic there mate! Tell him its not legal lol!
  3. Hi Guys! Not a fishing report from myself but I thought it would be nice to post. Was down at Kiama on Sunday and was blown away by how many boats and fishers were out. Not long after at around 2:00pm the boats docked in, and my god were they loaded with Tuna. Unsure of the species but I believe they were a mix of bluefin and albacore from a distant. It was so exciting to see so many tuna and wished I was out on the water with them. the boats themselves were massive and loaded with trolling setups. It was nice to see them stroll up towards the shops heading home which made it a mesmerising sight to see as they were carried away into the sunlight with big old style utes. I could see the grins on the fishos faces, they were buzzing. All in all a great day as an observer and thought I would let you guys know there are some nice tuna off Kiama. Cheers guys, I hope your all well and happy, Oz.
  4. Ah fantastic recount there my friend of the hairtail thank you so much! They are a very intriguing fish and I hope one day I can hook one.. Oguzhan.
  5. Nice to see someone keep the leathers! Allot of people throw em back in and think there pests. I enjoy eating them, I find deep frying them whole the best method.
  6. Can you catch them anywhere else or predominately the Hawkesbury river? I saw a guy catch one from the Illawarra not long ago... Also what do they taste like? Cheers, Oz.
  7. Yum one of my favourite fish to put on the plate! Very under rated fish in the kitchen, cheap too at the markets.
  8. Hahaha yep good ole Bellambi for ya there my friend! Glad you got fish to compensate the wait and hardship though!
  9. Do you think it would be okay still to eat seafood from caught from eastside even though they said its okay up to 150g?

Nice! great to see it hasn't died out.
  11. Yum! Great haul. My favourite fish.
  12. My dad caught me a Hogfish a few weeks back. First time I tried it, was delicious! Tasted like lobster and snapper mixed.. sweet and subtle.
  13. Is it true that seafood taken out of the WEST side of the harbour bridge is not to be consumed? just read up on it and it says only caught from the east side are safe to eat. Not trying to stir the pot, just thought Id put it out there.

My Grandma always mentions how hand reels were the thing back in the day, very popular. Just wind the line out and wind back when hooked. But if you hook a big one its a different story lol.
  15. Hi everyone its been a while since I last came on. This next statement is not fact just my own observation, but fish can have a bit more fat on them in cooler periods resulting in more tasty fish. Certainly a reason to get out there in the cooler months!
  16. I am like you too mate it's extremely frustrating seeing this type of behaviour, best chance might be to report him to fisheries, especially if he keeps doing it. whats grinds my gears also is when parents don't call their kids in. was fishing a few back and this blokes kids were coming right up to me to check out my lure. i said yes dear that is a fake fishy, and had two kids right my back side and was so scared I was gonna hook em. The parent couldn't care less. I was very patient but ended up walking away.
  17. Try it on the barbecue, salt the outside and cavity area, olive oil all over 👌🏼
  18. Jeeezz 71 fish in one trip that's a dream for me man, insane! Im struggling to just get one atm.
  19. Hi all I'm having trouble figuring where in the harbour the fish cannot be eaten due to the high chemical/metal contamination... if anyone could show me on a map I would greatly appreciate it! cheers,Oz.
  20. 100% mate I love all the those fish stated as trash fish! who said trevally was not good enough eating?! try again!
  21. Agree for all above there PaddyT. I do not like bream because it's has generally less meat than other fish. With snapper I don't like the taste but then when ever dad comes from fishing with some nice extremely fresh snapper I will eat it. Taste a thousands times better than the snapper from the markets stated as fresh...
  22. Gee that was a good insight and very informative, great video Green Hornet!
