  1. Yeah I’m flying with Qantas and jetstar and the height limits are pretty good.
  2. Morning Raiders, On the 2nd of July I’ll be leaving for New Zealand and I’ll be staying for 9 days and I’ll be leaving on the 11th. I’ll arrive on the South Island, Christchurch for two days then leave for Queenstown for the rest of the trip. The trip is more ski orientated but I’ll have a few days to wet a line. I’m writing this up for recommendations on where to fish and what lures/bait to use and fishing methods. I’ve never been to New Zealand before so I’m going to blind and all tips and trick are appreciated. <Gear> light 2-4kg rod with a nasci 2500 with 4lb braid and 8lb leader 3-6 medium rod with 16-14 braid and 8lb line <Transporting Rods> As previously mentioned, I’ll be going to new Zealand by plane, so I have a few questions about transporting my rods, I have a 20kg under carriage luggage and 7kg carry aboard. I have two rod carriers as recommended by @DerekD and I’ll be bringing by fishing bag as carry aboard with my reels in them. Should I ziptie my carriers together or are they fine by themselves? https://www.ottostackleworld.com.au/seahorse-rod-tubes Rod carriers Cheers, Albert

Hey Raiders, I’ve got an 200L tank and was wondering if anyone has experience in keeping saltwater or freshwater fish like bream or bass as I might consider that option as the couple of goldfish we’ve kept in it since now may be going into another tank. Don’t know if this is a good idea so I’m just here to ask around. Thanks, Albert
  5. Thank you all for the positive comments everyone!
  6. Good Evening Raiders, I revisited the ferry wharf at Cremorne solo today and started fishing at around 2:30 in the afternoon. Started with a bloodworm coloured paddle tail on my light 4lb braid and 8lb Fluro setup. After a good 20 minutes a few bites and a 25ish cm flatty. Decided to switch to the 10g yakka coloured vibalicous I recently purchased and after fishing the front of the jetty for a bit I hooked onto a good 45cm blue spotted flatty. After a bit of help from a fellow fisho at the wharf with the net I landed it and got a photo. Nearing the end of the session I switched back to the paddle tail after a few missed strikes and the poor thing got bodied, the tail was missing and fingernail sized gaps were torn out the side! Flatty~ 45cm ish Flatty~ 25cm ish
  7. Nicely done mate! Congrats and welcome to the community.
  8. Thanks for your great comments everyone I’ll continue to work hard and learn!

  10. @Little_Flatty @bessell1955Thanks guys!
  11. Hey Raiders, I rocked up to Reid Park at around 2pm and fished around on the ferry wharf with some chicken that I had marinated overnight with tuna oil and cheese, after a bit I only got a small yakka and a 25cm snapper. At around 3pm @DerekD popped over for a short session with some soft vibalicious lures and after a bit I caught my first fish a small snapper on the 10g vibalicious soft vibe and afterwords 3 more fish to end out session at 5pm. Thanks for teaching me today derek! Fish caught: Flathead: 34cm Flathead: 32cm Grinner: 20cm ish Snapper: 25cm ish Flathead photos were too large and couldn’t be uploaded*
  12. Thanks Little_flatty I’ll keep that in mind
  13. Hi all, I was wondering if Quibaree park is any good to fish? It looks like a pretty decent spot with 4 wharves but there’s nothing else on the web that says about fishing in Quibaree park. I will be using a light spinning lure rod with 4lb braid and 8lb leader and also a medium 14lb braid and mono spinning rod for bait and will be going for anything that bites as I was just introduced to lure fishing by @DerekD. Thanks fishos, Albert
  14. Thanks guys, I’ll need to get a good rain jacket
  15. Hey All, I was wondering if you guys have any tips for fishing in the rain? The weathers been pretty nasty this week and possibly next week as well and I was just thinking about going for a session or not. I’m going to be fishing lures in saltwater and any tips or info would be very appreciated. edit: Forgot to mention I can only fish land based Cheers, Albert
  16. Bobbin head has been pretty trashy for me, I’ve tried pilchards and prawns but got no bite for the times I’ve fished there, I suspect they’re all at the cafe where people feed them but you can’t fish there
  17. Hey All, I’ve been recently looking to get into lure fishing and I’ve found a decent 7ft 2-6kg rod in my garage that I can use, the problem is that I need a new reel and I’ve been looking at this shimano nasci 2500 HGFC, I’m going to put on 4lb braid and probably 4lb fluro or mono as a leader. The thing is I have to order it and it’s going to take a few days so I need a fast response if possible, please correct me if I need to get heavier or lighter line or any other problems. Edit: I’m just beginning lure fishing and I’m trying out soft plastics Thanks, Albert
  18. Ahh okay thanks for the confirmation guys
  19. Hi all, Just a small question on whether i should invest in fishbrain pro or any other good websites/apps that can help me find new spots and fishing knowlege. Cheers, Albert
  20. Hey Derek, How much roughly would a new outfit cost?
  21. Oh, my reel for the samaki combo is 2500
  22. Oh that might be why I haven’t been able to cast soft plastics that far, should I change my main line or is it easier to catch larger species? I found out that I can cast very far with my samaki rod if it has a heavy weight you can even use it as a beach rod if you stand in the water
  23. Yeah I’m just after bread and butter species but I would also like to get into hardier fish if I can progress enough
