  1. im pretty sure it was from high tide dropping to low
  2. Hey Raiders, Decided to go out for a 2 hour session at balmoral beach again with the same little diver. The tailor were still around and I managed to land 8 small tailor throughout the session, as I started to cover ground I managed to hook up on a 50-60 ish cm flatty which put up a very nice fight on 10lb light gear. Nearing the end of the session I somehow managed to hook a numb ray which I didn’t know at the time could electric shock me so I just rolled him back in. There eas also a seal/dolphin sighting which was chasing a big school of baitfish or something as there was 20ish seagulls circling it. Overall a pretty productive session with many fish landed. Thanks for reading, Albert
  3. Cheers Neil, looking forward to the next time you make a trip down to Sydney
  4. Well he is a jack of all trades for lures!
  5. Sure go hard green hornet, I would’ve been screwed if he decided to swim down instead of swimming alongside the reef
  6. Wouldn’t say brilliantly haha, I should try and target kingfish in lighter outfits next time so I can work my drag better, that first pinky I caught on the jig was already a huge confidence booster as it showed I was doing something right
  7. They sure fight hard Yowie I thought I had snagged up at first due to how much weight it had
  8. Cheers Derek, I wouldn’t be here without you, I’ll try and make full videos next time as I was a bit rushed for time and my laptop was broken so I had to edit on my phone but anytime I get anything big or substantial you’ll be one of my priority contacts
  9. Coincidentally that’s what I’ve been thinking, the mate that helped me land the kingy has met a couple of very skilled shorejiggers there one being larryoutdoors who has started recently to jig off his kayak so I might try to get acquainted with him haha
  10. Morning Raiders, This report was suppose to be up last Friday but I’ve had trouble posting the video up on YouTube. I’ve been going out shorejigging for a couple sessions by now with no luck until Friday. When I had lost all my jigs the previous day and had to borrow one from my mate, and on the first cast as I jigged it back up I realised a small pinky had managed to somehow hook himself between the eyes, my first fish. After that promising catch nothing much happened after until 2pm right after some heavy rain that I managed to hook up on a fish I’ve been chasing for a year now after @DerekD was so kind enough to give me a couple lessons on lure fishing. I’ll let the video do the talking. (First video!) Afterwards around 20 mins after I managed to also land my first salmon which went 43cm but was largely overshadowed my the fish I just caught. Huge thanks to everyone on fishraider who helped me and have me positive feedback especially @DerekD who has taken time out of his weekends to take me out and show me how to work lures. Thanks for reading, Albert
  11. Cracker article Derek! Forever grateful for your lessons and the information you put out!
  12. I did fast/medium retrieve with a couple twitches
  13. Morning Raiders, I had a little excursion on Sunday and after not being able to get out on the water for 3 weeks because of assessments and my schools AFX (annual field exercise) for my schools Cadets program I was finally able to take a mate out for a fish on Sunday. We arrived at around 8’o clock ish and started off at the wharf, wind was howling as I tried showing my mate how to cast and rig up a running sinker rig with pilchards. At 10 o’clock after not much action on the wharf I left my mate and his dad to experiment with bait fishing while I went off on the beach with suspending lure similar to the double clutch but smaller. Adrenaline started pumping as I started to reel in one fish after another in total I managed 8 tailor and 1 bream all caught in one hour, not bad for my first time using divers. All of them where either barely legal or just under so I released all of them anyways. My mate’s dad managed to pull out a 31cm bream on the pillies and was satisfied with that so they went home. Had a little lunch break and was back on it. Unfortunately the tide had receded and there were no more tailor schools so I decided to call it a day at 1pm. Thanks for reading, Albert (couldn’t fit any more photos)
  14. I do the opposite with entering through the tail and exiting through the head and half hitch on the tail
  15. honestly if the trap doesn't work you can try small balls of bread on an unweighted panfish hook
  16. might try rigging it with a hidden weight jighead
  17. Hey Raiders, It’s been a long time since I’ve posted due to the combination of me starting school and not catching much at all. Anyways, after being sick with covid for a week we decided to go out for some fresh air at Terrigal Beach and I packed my bare rod and reel just in case ( rod was an Arrowz estuary 6-14lb and my brand new nasci 4000 I has picked up for a shorejigging setup and switched out as @DerekD recommended) and a single 30g halco twisty. My only plan was to walk around the beach making casts but my plan changed as soon as I got there as I started walking up to the rock pools where there were already a couple of other fisherman(mostly my age) which I quickly aquatinted with and fished together, Less than 10 minutes go by and two older(4-5 years) blokes ( that looked way more experienced but still pretty friendly) hookup on the first bonito of the session, now this was my first time catching bonito so I was still in the dark about the rodeo of a fight they put up and the exaggerated screams of his bream setup didn’t help much. Now at this point of the day I still didn’t expect a fish as my earlier months of unsuccessful ventures didn’t exactly help with my confidence but I still pushed on. The older bloke hooks up again and as I feel my halco twisty slowly sink I suddenly hook up and the Bonnie fights like crazy and i expected a bigger fish than the 35cm ish but I was freaking happy due to my dry streak finally being broken. The rest of the day goes about wonderfully my new mates and I all get on catching some bonnies (mostly the older blokes giving their Bonnies to the other guys as they didn’t eat Bonnies) I catch two more Bonnies until I leave for home, two were caught when the halco was sinking and I could feel them repeatedly tapping at it and one surprise catch near the rock pool ledge where the biggest one of the day followed it up and absolutely smashed it. Bled and gutted the Bonnies and gave them to a friend of my dads as we were parking at his house a lot so I could get dropped off for school. (Couldn’t include vid due to file size ) Until Next Time, Albert
  18. Hey @Aussie_fisher Are you using lures or bait? And also what time/tide? If you're using bait you'll get your usual stuff, bream, snapper, flatties and trevs. With lures you can get your usual stuff and tailor. If you're lucky you might get a sambo or a kingy encounter on bait/lures. At night fishing dies down a lot and you'll most likely get flatties, tailor or eels (maybe jewies but I've never caught one there) The yakkas there are a bit odd and it's really a hit or a miss if you encounter them.
  19. Mostly around sydney whether north, east, south, west, the harbour, north sydney, mosman ect.
  20. Hey Raiders, After a stressful assessment block I've been itching to go wet a line and this sunday is looking pretty good, I was just wondering if any of you raiders have had any kingfish action in nsw preferably landbased in or near the harbour as it's a struggle to get the kayak out. Any info is greatly appreciated. Cheers, Albert
  21. Ahh man, if you wait at the big pier at night sometimes the tuna boats will come in! That how i got a free albacore last school holidays anyways at the pier the fishing is very good, tons of yakkas st night, tailor and trevs.
