Anyone On Line At The Moment To Resize About 10 Fish Photos?
warnie replied to jewgaffer's topic in Fishing Chat
Jewgaffer finally some one as useless as me with all that mumbo jumbo stuff with computer's.............. I was starting to feel like Robinson Carusoe Cheers warnie -
Hi boy's Reading with interest the info in regard's to the jewfish and was wondering if the same principal's apply............ to the fisho's that target this fish on close in reef's out side of the estuary or does that open up a whole new way of predotary tactic's to this jewfish's demeaner.............. i guess what i'm trying to say..does it feed and act differently in the estuary than in the ocean ? Cheers Warnie'

Holmesie I think that the best quality fishing tackle you can afford is the way to go......As you aware there are some good second hand gear through other fisho's offloading excess stock or losing interest' and moving on.............. There is nothing worse than coming across the big one the fish of a life time whilst watching your rod fitting's self destruct and ping off back were there came from... Have you thought of selling two of the kid's ....lol.... Cheer's Warnie ps and you don't get the fish...................

Ben I am no expert on this matter........... just trying to get the think tank going,,,,,,here goes 1. Repeated high pressure cleaning with as you say oil and petrol dispersent added 2. Will it dry out then be able to be vachumed out with an industrial type. 3. Less of two evil's do the inspection hatch via the cabin just doubly make sure that it's sealed 100% this could in the long run be the least involved......... and most effective way of cleaning that tank Cheers Ben Warnie

Ben I think you have done a great job there on your project and i take my hat off to you to attempt such a thing..................... surely a labour of love.............. I can't think of any other way of cleaning the tank other than repeated flushing but may i suggest if it is not usually the norm of employing two water seperators in line to catch that initial crap that get's missed once again good luck and well done Cheers Warnie

Humesy The advice the boys have gave you re the second battery and at the very least the jump pack is the way to go...... These two batteries will be connected by mean's of a battery isolation switch allowing you easily to toggle between them both If however as you say the second battery is impractical you can get a simple electrical device fitted to the main power supply that will automatically cut off when getting to the stage of depletion saving a call to sea tow....... Humsey just a thought have a look just on the presumation the battery was not the blame .ie loose connection to battery use nylox nut's to the terminal's not wing nut's or some bad electrical connection in the motor so when you have a new battery you don't repeat the same thing again............oh and i'm presuming your motor is to big to use the emergency pull chord...... Hope that help's now go get em............tiger Cheers Warnie

Shark Bait I guess what i'm trying to get across is not so much as the e-tec being good or bad just that i cant understand why it be allowed to go so far wether through the dealer,or at the end of the line BRP have let this thing to blow out and degenerate to the extent it has........... i am sure Huey for example would not of let it get any were this far with one of his customer's and by now would of been screaming at BRP and would of provided an outcome suitable for all.... The end result at the moment is crazy john is going through pain.. the e-tec is coping flak....... and a million $ company could'nt seem to care less or am i missing something. Cheers Warnie

Fishraiders To all.......... that get a bit discouraged with catching your favourite fish at times then be adventurous with your bait selection whilst certainaly...... fresh is best............. some times go figure. Why is it trout will wolf down power bait yet at the same time ignore my lovely juicey worms Whilst tuna fishing I couldn't lose a bait whilst my mate hooked and caught a 42kg y/tuna on a lamington yes a lamington !!!!!!! Whilst having lunch inside of cabbage tree port stephens as a joke we put a chicken bone on a hook attached with an elastic band result a 5.6 kg snapper........................ Shark fishing..... had a shark come and go for 2 hrs refusing every lovely bait presented to him.........his eventual downfall he took a section of the carboard box the mullet came in.... none of these are unique i know...... But as they say......Thats Fishing Cheers Warnie

Netic Strange you say ...Andy say's youve gotta talk to the right people let me put it this way......... Providing it is the motor at fault with the amount of negative feedback shown here and no doubt influential people are privvy to it then why is it not in BRP best interest to step in and say Crazy john bring her in and we will give you a new one................... Take me for example i was going to upgrade my yammies over to two etec's before the coming season........ After reading what's going on ..........i don't think so Cheers Warnie
-
Andy point taken.... it just seems as what is happening to crazy john for example and regardless of brand of motor, why does it seem that anything relating to fixing motors or any thing to do with boats for that matter, seems like it attracts a extra couple of zero's to either get it fixed, or buy a new one. Whoever coined the phrase ............... "owning a boat is like throwing money into a empty hole in the ocean"............. Well i suppose they weren't joking, Cheers Warnie
-
Andrew Sorry mate, but after reading what crazy john is going through ...if my motor has had one injector replaced been running rough, and miss firing..................... and only in the run in stage well i would be feeling a little uncomfortable with what might lay in the years ahead. Warnie

Tough Weekend At The Mountain And The Canyons
warnie replied to Ross Hunter's topic in Fishing Reports
Ross We cubed inside the mountain yesterday for 2 y/f t before arousing the interests of one energetic Thresher shark and had one take a lure on the troll home.... Ross is the thresher a normal occurence in your travels ? ... for these two are the first i have seen other than book's etc. are they normaly from these parts for i am sure there were more around................. Cheers Warnie -
Hi Lads Reading with interest regards the 2 stroke v 4 stroke debate on motors really grabed my attention in regards to there fish raising ability (namely marlin) having a previous boat that changed from 2 to 4 stroke motors and which did not make a scrap of differance in that regards................. But after going through a dry spell of raising marlin I started looking for reasons........... for why............ the only changes to the boat was an addition of one of them small fridges the type for camping 12 volt ............And after much scrutiny and finger pointing i decided that, since the fridge came on board that had to be the culprit.... For i haven't seen a fish since........ and it had to go!!!!!! And you guessed it.......... next time out............. bye bye fish drought............. We tend to be fiercly fanatical regards any thing that might shy the fish away and any hint of it being related to the motor would in my eyes doom it to the scrap heap............ frustrating im sure to the people concerned telling us......But there a good motor...... Can any one tell me if you were to dive under water can you hear or feel a differance under water........ with a four v two stroke motor i know ........................................ you can hear diesal motors and feel them from miles away at times what must that sound and feel like to a fish would be the last thing a outboard mechanic would be concerned with but as i said ..............we are fanatical with that thought Cheers Warnie

Croydon I will be interested myself also................... my main concern was in not knowing if they would still be on the trailer when i got back from fishing' As it would work out costly replacing them all the time...... but you have got 6 months on the board, so maybe that would'nt be the case.............. Cheers Warnie......

Kiwi Dan What ever y/fin i catch on sunday I will be tossing back in the water its got to be an aquired taste as far as i'm concerned........ ive tried it Raw, Marinated, smoked, in curries,Soaked in soya sauce Flipped on the BBQ , as fish cakes, I even had shark's come and turn it's nose up at it..................Have i left any thing out. Maybe the cat but i have't got one of them....... So there you go dan......... they all go back sporting a new bit of plastic. All i have to do is convince who ever's out fishing the day with me the same........ .Cheers Warnie

Hi raiders My 27 meg radio a GX 294 works fine but i keep having dramas with the ariel i will be on to nbr 4 shortly that white plastic covering that protects the copper wire that spirals up the ariel keeps cracking and crazing allowing corrosion to set in....Am receiving fine, but my transmitting range has suffered once again, the VHF ariel seems unaffected. is it because i use the 27meg the most...... ive tried vaso...... uv protector.......... its parked under cover out of the sun any one got any suggestions what to try next. Frustrated Warnie

Stumpy Don't be grumpy as greg mentioned........... front runner will do the trick my cabin was done in that way spray glued also bends around every nook and cranny and look's a million $ although i seem to recall it was marine grade........... upholster's carry it also i have been told. Cheers Steve.

Boys Just a word of caution............. i fish up at s.w. rocks a fair bit and that bar still puts the wind up me when i cross it sure it can be fun, but bars do have a dark side a couple of years ago i was unfortunate enough to carry out a rescue on a local dive boat that turned over whilest crossing the last set on the bar. on pulling a young girl of about 12yrs old out of the water i will never forget the fear she showed in her eyes that day. And has served as a reminder ever since yea, with common sense in mind there is no problem most of the time but if you come across what was shown on u tube for example unless you are 100% confident with yourself and the boat give it a miss that day its not worth it i dont want to sound like a party pooper it's just that i would much prefer to be out there fishing with you Cheers Steve
-
Andy That sounds like one nice boat you are getting i really don't want to confuse you in regards to the choice of sounder but further up the track i would'nt like you to be dissapointed and regrete it but i would just like to say to you that the most mentioned fact with my mates who have a furuno is the ability of the sounder to read what the transducer is relaying, there have got the two units so perfectly matched with each other that the discrimination is second to none, so before you fully decide on your sounder option could you have one more look around it could end up turning out to be cheaper than you think.................................... Cheers Steve.

Ross try skirmish letting go with a couple of hunderd paint ball's won't help who your shooting at............................. But it will sure make you feel better. Steve
-
Andy not 100% sure but i think the actuall size or the fairiing block doesnt change in regards to the 3kwt mine is 1kwt which i use a lot to read the bottom at brown's mountain it reads no differant than what you can read at say long reef at 50mtrs there awesome thourghly reccomend one but not cheap have to weigh justification up regards the deep water usage Cheers Steve

Hi Fishraiders Not sure if this has been touched on before or not!................... But all things being equal single or twins yamaha or honda we have decided on our boat package then what, or who has done or needed to carry out that repair to motor or boat. River, or out at sea to enable to continue the day or indeed to get back home. With out the obvious of sea tow etc as any one got suggestions or ideas what is good for the average boatie that could or may help if it were to happen. Example; those with a single motor if you were to do a bush to the prop short of throwing another one on say out at sea(if you carry a spare that is) Will it limp home at low revs i have never experianced it before Example; You are taking on water in the hull lets say an alarming amount we have bilge pump going but is not coping i know if you remove the bung or bungs and get it up on the plane struggling maybe but the water will drain out of the hull............................. but does that apply to all or some hulls. Just wishing to share our past experiances between us so as to maybe avoid some of the pitfalls that can and do occur what to carry or have on board what works what does not..... how to turn a bad day around Cheers Steve
