    Gps Marks

  2. Croydon With your newish boat coming......and with what you have said regards with heading out to the shelf chasing tuna & marlin maybe a bit of winch work...over the shelf.....sounds to me like you are preparing your self for a step up to the next level......so if that be the case.............. do like wise with the electronics think about a combined sounder & gps with chartplotter mounted on or set in the dash and depending on the amount of money you are prepared to spend of course.... you will never look back....... as you said there are numerous brands to look at...... and at various prices maybe a call to huey might get you a better entry combo for an affordable cost......... or for you to aim at saveing some dollars for.......... Cheers Warnie.......
  3. Poacher...... Okay providing the weather is agreeable out of terrigal .... terrigal or avoca wide...... out of broken bay then hit broken bay wide....the hump on the n/east corner...... but you didn't hear it from me....... Cheers Warnie....
  4. Im betting!!!!!!!!! if manly win sunday night ........ Dan will be a no show monday morn.........(reason self inflicted hangover) Cheers Warnie.....
  5. Jewgaffer........... We all tend to feel about it that way at times i know my self when fishing is slow i say to myself.....what the hell am i doing out here for.... im with billfisher on having differant boats for differant purposes and thats why i have "ungry" for game fishing "little ungry" for estuary work and last but not least "mini ungry" for my trout fishing expeditions all be it only once a year......... The size of craft owned will at most times relate to your ability to afford such but for most part of owning a trailer boat is the intensity of your commitment to the sport which play's a big part also.. i myself have a cabin and would not be without one both for summer in getting relief from the sun and in winter were we all huddle together to keep warm...... i have an advantage with what you have related to with the fact that when i go away and fish tournie's i can dropback to the comfort's of home by sleeping onboard other boats from my own club that are there attending fishing the tournie also..... one such boat in the spare cabin that i often get to hijack has a remote drop down plasma tv its own climate control and own ensuite..and thats spare cabin nbr 3... we also often rendevous at sea with them where they offload a roast dinner for us done in the oven..... Fairdinkum is that fishing and being spoilt or what........... That same boat though can get through 1000 litrs of fuel a day...... 900 litres more than i would be wanting to use......... So yes it can be hard work but as said i feel it all comes down to affordability.... and the level of commitment that you are willing to give which can seem to wane as you get older and wiser.....one thing we all have in common though is we all love fishing!!!!!!!! Cheers Warnie
  6. Nudge....... as you are aware there is no shortage of us up there at south west rocks at xmas time feel free to have an open invitition......... to jump on board any time with the whipper snipper....... and give him a go on the rod........... there's no better oppertunity than at chrissie at the rock's........ to get him his first marlin...... bring the video camera you'll cherish it for life...... Cheers Warnie........

    Mono Or Cat

JM...... the question of a cat v mono has been debated for many a year and can be compared to holden v ford debate so i guess a lot comes down to personal choice........... What size boat do you have in mind???? And what sort of recreational fishing have you in mind???? Me...well i personaly settled on a 7.2mtr marlin broadbill cat remaining trailerable And because the majority of my fishing is mostly all offshore and as such there may be times were i needed a boat that could handle some angry seas thrown at it.... a boat with inherant safety features and as well as satisfying my fishing requirements..... and settled on this cat that i felt best suited all those needs........ all boats to a certain degree have there pro's and con's and the list can be lengthy the best advice in regards to before buying any boat you are considering whether it be mono or cat is to take it for an on water test....... Cheers Warnie....

    Springers

Hi offchops Personally i reckon you can't go past the bamboo cane springer...... i think the ones manufactured nowadays are made out of fiberglass... and just dont seem to have the same feel to them............ not even sure if the cane ones are available anymore i'm sure someone on here would be able to confirm that if they are still ready available or not a simple standard skin fitting accepts both types and wiith a bit of electrical tape on the bottom to take the slack up and give a snug fitting...... if your unable to source cane springers then maybe......ask jewgaffer he may very well......... have bundles of them stacked in his garage somewhere that he could be persuaded to let go of a couple........ Cheers Warnie........
  15. My goal this coming summer is....... i would love dearly to get my wife (genelle) to be able to last longer than getting the boat off the trailer at the ramp before turning green...... seeing's i have unsucessfully tried for 20 yrs i don't like my chances........ name of the goal........ don't give up and keep trying!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Warnie.........

  18. Hi bob........ as you can see that would be about maybe half the size against the other which is a clone of the one that you have it weighs close to 3lbs and would be the heaviest i would resort to.... the normal size for me generally is a further 1lb lighter still that's not to say the heavier sinker wont do the job for as you know it does just that i personally have better results going lighter....... try it bob......and hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised.. Cheers Warnie. thanks johnno
  19. Hi bob sorry i am endevouring to sort a posting pic problem out when iv'e worked through it i will get back to you Cheers Warnie

    I Am Stuck

Hi all not sure if this is the right place or not but have read the tutoriol on posting pics have followed the directions so i thought but when i hit browse c/documents/and/settings/user/ keeps coming up i click on the relevant pic but it 'wont allow me to attache because the file is to big..... anyone know what im doing wrong and can tell me how to go about it correctly i thought i had it all worked out Cheers Warnie.....
  22. DV8 what you say has a certain amount of merit.........but no one would not either carry one or use one with that concern in mind.....you would most likely find that if the perverbial was to hit the fan and you were to seek assistence the shear number of boats listening on channel would be in your favour and many a boat as sought out help by means of another boat relaying the relevant info..and in fact many a rescue has been carried out were skip conditions have carried the signal to another country...which then has been relayed back to canberra to effect the rescue operations..... so if required do not hesitate to do so it has a huge chance of being affective.... And peter quite a few raiders and a lot of other fisho's converse on channel 94 and to a lessor extent channel 96 there are other's as well but i am confident if you monitor 94 you will find what you are looking for see if you can meet up with a raider on this site that lives near you so as they can give you a rundown on procedure and etiquete if that proves difficult then let me know and i will arrange to meet up with you and take you through it...... Cheers Warnie...........
  23. Hi bob I personaly would rarely ever go over 1.5kg in weight for brown's even when current is pushing hard 1kg is closer to the mark for me and down to a snapper lead when no current is present the lighter you are the less inclined you will be to lose tackle i could arrange and pm pics that would most likely surprise you then by the sounds of things which may involve you to have a rethink and maybe adopt a differant approuch if that will help you... Warnie......
  24. Hey marty i just obtained some for a cutting board for me i just refered it as that teflon stuff they knew what i was refering to any kitchen cupboard manufacturer has contacts for it a factory over in wetherill park deals in off cuts i got mine 800x 400 by 40mm thick for $25 bucks so its reasonably priced and much better than you would get at a department store i am sure someone on here will be able to post the link for you if not i could chase it for you if you get stuck.... just noticiced that last post i was to slow........ there you go thanks peter Warnie
